So a few points to ponder: 1.There are no personal trades = No gold sellers, so being able to put additional gold on a person that killed you would give a reason to go on a pk hunt. This works as long as there is a cap to the gold say 100 per bounty max. 2.Then you put a limit on the amount of times one player can hunt another player. So once player A hunts and kills player B for the bounty they would have to wait until X amount of time passes to be able to hunt them again. (should should be applied to his/her account so he cant just use another player off his account to kill the same person.) This limits the amount of gold one person could give another in the bounty hunter arena. It would be far more profitable to get gold in other ways. 3. The bounty system should only let the person killed take out the bounty on the pker. This makes it so you cant just put a bounty on some one to get the gold, while a person with multiple accounts could do this it would be too much of a pain in the (%&(#^$) to do it to make gold as it takes too long for them to be able to kill that player again. 4. Also, don't forget the person who picked up the bounty has to find the individual to begin with which will also take a lot of time. I liked the idea of one person that said " it depends on the amount of bounties the pker has on his/her head as to how specific the location info you get is" The more the person pks, the more specific of location the NPC will give you when you pick up the bounty. 5. There will always be pkers, they pk for a variety of reasons. They pk for bragging rights, for good grinding ground, for personal grudges, to get titles or other temp benies, for gold, to get hate tells (my personal favorite), or just to be a pain in the (&(*&(&. With the bounty system a lot of pkers will pk just for the challenge of staying alive. There will always be a lot people who PK. 6. The bounty system will bring the older pkers out of the closet to pvp, people who dont care about titles but want some sort of tangible reward for killing people.
It I think the bounty system would be a great addition to the game, but it cant be the only way we handle pvpers. There needs to be areas of profit that people can go to get things that will be fought over. In this area there is no penalty to pking. I think this area should have some what better stuff then the areas where there are a penalties to pking to encourage World pvp. The bounty system will add a great element to the game, but it is only one element and should not be used as an end all to pvp. For myself i will probably be the bounty hunter(because that sounds fun) having the challenge of not only finding that person but killing them for profit, will be something that would draw me back into the pvp realm.
This would work, but the rewards would need to be something worth while. I wasnt able to get in on the CBT1, but i am signed up for two. I would also submit the rewards would need to be better as you go along. Maybe some hard to find crafting item (again not sure what the crafting is like in this game) but you can take my point. The more bounties you take and finish the better the rewards. Bound items are great but they should be something some one would actively try to get because of the benefits.
one possible solution is if you pick up a bounty on some one and go kill them and receive the bounty, you may not pick up a bounty on that particular player again for an alotted amount of time or until he has been killed by x amount of players.
PKers PK just to do it and piss people off. They do it for bragging rights, they do it for a favored mob zone, they do it just to get hate tells (my personal favorite), and they do it to greif. This isnt going to stop pking, this i think will increase the amount of pks you have. People will pk JUST to get a bounty put on them for the challenge of defending themselves. For most hard core pvpers, having a bounty would be all the incentive they need to pk.
again, as i said they would need to find a way to keep players from abusing the method, not sure how to do that. The idea is a sound one though. I can guarantee, you will have a lot more PVP if there is a tangible reward and not just a title or a temp benefit. I want to PVP for a reason, not just to say yeah I killed that guy.
I have played MMOs for a couple of decades(yes, I am an old guy that plays video games) In recent years i have become very dissatisfied with PVP. In a real sand box game you got to keep what was on the person you killed. That gave you a reason to pvp, now a days it seems like pvp has gotten to the point where you kill someone because they happen to be there, with no real tangible reward. Games have gone away from that because to many people whined about losing their stuff. If i am understanding this correctly you will get Karma which decreases your negative Karma(you being a very bad person and killing helpless individuals ) I think the bounty hunter idea is awesome and gives a reason behind the pvp. I know a lot of players like having "titles and other possible benefits" but I would really like to see a tangible reward. With all the way people come up with to abuse a system, this would be hard to come up with. How about letting the person who sets the bounty also issue a reward a long with it. Say i take a bounty out on someone and as an incentive i offer X amount of gold with it. Which i would have to put in along with buying the bounty in the first place. As long as you can come up with a way to prevent people abusing the bounty hunter addition, this would be a way to get older pvpers back in the game. Us old guys want tangible rewards not titles. Also it would be fun for the person that has a bounty to leave an ear or finger to pick up as proof to bring back to the player who issued the bounty.
