  1. Post on Future Events in General

    By Crozbozy, posted
    Hey!

How do we check the future events that are going to be held in NA, and does anyone know when the seal of Shakatu will be held?

    Cheers
  2. Far be it from me to complain about getting free stuff, but it feels like the recent attendance events have been a little, flat? Can only speak for myself but maybe we could go back to adding some cash shop items like last year.
Nothing crazy, maybe things like +1-8 inventory coupon, 50-100 weight increases,+1 worker lodging or stable slots. Stuff new players and altiholics could use. Maybe a random pet thrown in there 1 or twice a year?
Orrr hey a triple float rod, haven't seen those in a while.
Maybe some new rng boxes ,storm horse/wagon/fish boat ect, but for epheria sailboat gear or the in game  craft able costumes. Not the life skill ones, although if you want to add another +2 lifeskill box event item in there I'm all for it.
Be a bit of a stretch but thoughts on bring the failstack boxes KR has in their attendance events over? Think there was a recent patch over there that let people create there own store able stacks.
Just a thought is all, add some variety beyond high priced accessories and enhancement mats.

  6. Hey folks,

Let's get right to it! BDO has lot's of content... Hiding somewhere behind lot's and lot's of boring NPC talk.  And everybody knows there is lore and story behind the setting of BDO but it just doesn't show, you have to actively search for it.
And as most of us will agree upon, long searching for the lore and story in an MMORPG-sandbox doesn't actually help players to bond with the world.  The motto of "The New World" is quiet cynical: "A world every player can call it's home" but what does that "home" mean, when you don't have a clue on what's going on in the world?  I value the efforts of the devs for updating this game in an insane fast way, I do, but they should focus on more than just new area's and awakenings...
The feeling I have amongst many other players is that you can do like a lot of things in BDO but there is no point in doing them unless you want to be the best crafter, do endless pvp, grinding mobs, have the best gear, reach way beyond your awakening.... A lot of those listed things you can do in other games, games that are too superficial.
I have some ideas/concepts that might make players bond more with the BDO world:
A lot of NPC's are too stationairy is one of the first problems I want to tackle. I know it is quiet demanding of pc's but please make NPC's do more than just wave or some emote, let them walk around, carry out their jobs, "talk to other NPC's. I know there are NPC's who already travel and do other "tasks" but not quiet enough. Look at skyrim, for example that maid at the forge, in the noon she was forgeing weapons, at another point in the day she was in her shop, at night in her bed,.... Or the witcher for example, with it's breathing world, NPC's do stuff, they have emotions  and interesting conversations with other NPC's,...A second improvement would be more and better cut-scenes, even for side quests. In the beginning of the game there should be more explanation about the black desert (I didn't know why this game was called black desert until the valencia update came out... And still it's a weird name but that's off topic). Cut-scenes help the players to understand why they must do there quests, what's going on in the world, what bad guys there are or wich wars there are spreading across the land. In side-quests it would be nice since some NPC's their stories will capture you and you know why you do that stuff, instead of reading every (boring) dialogue or book to get a grasp of what's going on. Cut-scenes would clarify why goblins are at a certain location and attacking those villages and cities, why you have a blackspirit folowing you what it's purpose is and if has a secret agenda or not, is that spirit evil or good for you who knows.... And yes there are people who will know the explanation for these questions, but frankly, as a player you shouldn't have to search for everything you want to know aka knowledge system...More and better dynamic events, look at Guild Wars 2 (and for some aspects to WoW and Diablo III) not the greatest game(s) in my opinion but what I did like about the game(s) is the fact that there were dynamic events on a massive scale. Not just some world bosses spawning twice a day or some whale ready to be hunted. But actually mobs attacking  villages, dosens of raids through high level area's, mob elite hunting parties on the road that "terrorize" the lands and you had to kill them to "free" the NPC's of the danger.MOST IMPORTANT: Tell a better story and make it more visible/highligted. Entice players in the BDO world to become the hero or villain what they want to be, help them to create their own story with unique expierences but try to maintain a red line in the story. The story should tell what the "black" desert is, the danger of the black spirits, where your class comes from, why your soul is linked with a black spirit, what goals you should try to achieve  (like killing a bad guys, evil mobs,...). The BDO devs will bring the players new domains/realms/area's but what is going on there, what is the story behind those new landmasse's, are there new bad guys (like sorcerers, necromancers, dragons) players need to kill to "complete" the story of those new area's? That being said, I hope the devs will notice this post and take their time to think about what's being said here. If they do, and they implement it in the game in a right way => then I am certain that players will bond more with the world; there will come a massive amount of new players to BDO because then there is finnaly an MMO who really differentiates itself from others by creating a gameworld where players can dive into and lose themselves, following a good story line instead of what other MMO's do ( => killing mobs = the entire game).

  8. Post on Megaphonica in General

    By Trixologist, posted
    Dear Daum Kakao
There is a rapid influx of Megaphonica spreading throughout the New World(s). Zpaks will not cure this.  These boys are sending love notes faster than political tweets at 3AM.  Reports of "Git good.", "Harambe Lives",  and pictures of actual fecal defecation are being received. We need shelter...HALP!!!
Oh right, I meant to ask for  a loyalty event where we earn loyalty.  That would be nice. TY
  9. That's a pretty simple suggestion, how about hiding all the unobtainable event titles, if you couldn't get them while the events were still active, for example the Master Baiter title, that you could only get in the first closed beta.
The reason why i think that is a good suggestion, is because these titles are making it impossible to get the 100% rating in world titles if you missed even one and i think almost everyone already did missed at least one event title.
It's kinda frustrating if you want to finish the game to 100% (collecting all knowledge, all titles, finishing all quests. etc), but you already know you can't get 100% in the titles, because some old event titles are preventing you from getting the 100% rating for world titles.

  11. I've been playing for almost 3 months and have watched many an event happen in this game. This is usually great and all but I have noticed that with the events here there is always a lot of confusion and the directions/rules are never very clear.
After taking a look at one of the event threads today (the "We are family" thread) it has come to my attention that MOST of the people that participated in that event will not get the title by no fault of their own. There were tons of questions asked throughout the entire thread about the form we had to fill out asking what name people were supposed to submit because the directions were NOT clear. There was a ton of confusion and it was never cleared up by the CMs until AFTER the event ended. Then it openly states they wanted your char's FIRST name and not last or both.
This is highly unfair to the players participating in these events and I have noticed this happening in several different events. Lots of questions about shoddy rules/directions and no answers or clarifications. Tons of entries being disqualified or thrown out because of rules the player didnt understand or know existed. In fact, in the art thread pages of questions about the rules were removed rather than being addressed and answered. This is poor business practice.
When you leave rules "open to interpretation" you cant fault the player for coming to their own conclusions. In the case of names a very logical conclusion would be that since this game FORCES us to have a last name that you'd want both a first and last (family) name of a char. Or just the family name.
So I respectfully suggest that from now on when running an event the CMs dont just copy/paste from PA etc and stop and think about the rules and how they will be interpreted by the player base. Please make the rules clear and concise so there is no question what they mean and what you are asking for. If you want a first name make sure that slot on the form specifically asks for a first name. If you accept any art form/medium make sure that is stated right off and so on. Be clear and dont bend on your rules.
Also, if there are questions about said rules then be sure you are watching the threads and answering them rather than brushing them off. People want these events and they want to participate and it is not fair to have their hard work trampled on or brushed off because of poorly worded rules.
While at it please consider the "idea" of the events as a whole. There have been a lot of other mistakes when running events as well like poor timing (running say an art contest which takes a lot of time and effort at the same time as a combat contest), poor general idea (having events where only high lvl players can access the rewards spots), terrible drop rates (killing mobs for hours and hours and getting a whopping 1 "insert drop item here"), and so on.
Like I said before, we love these events and we want more of them but you are making it very hard on us to participate and enjoy said events for the above said reasons and more. Please consider this in the future.
Thank you for reading or TL;DR: You should read.
  12. Heya guys, a few friends and I have been working for several months now on a new community-based platform called GameMule, and we're launching some of our first stages in the next few weeks. We have a new landing page up that gives a little info about what you can expect from our site, and as BDO has become one of my favorite titles, I'd really love to see what the BDO community thinks of our ideas.
    The site itself: https://www.gamemule.com
Our primary focuses are 1) increasing quality of life for guilds [we can shorten the time it takes to run your guild day-to-day by ~65%, giving you more time to actually play] and their members, 2) making it incredibly easy to organize and schedule events [raids, scrims, parties, giveaways, etc], 3) and giving individual players more ways to get into and stay involved with the overall game's community (thus benefiting them and everyone through a longer lifecycle).
I'd love to talk more about some of our plans and the dozens of features we're planning on building, but honestly at this stage we are considering going full-time on the project and want to see what other people think before we jump in too deep  Most of our staff have run (and been part of) multiple guilds throughout the last decade, and there are still a lot of problems that guilds and their members run into that we haven't seen anyone fix. We figured this was a great opportunity to change that
    Cheers
  13. We recently put on a PvP event on the Croxus server: The Fool's Day Massacre
I wanted to write a quick synopsis of some of the problems I faced in organising this event. I'm hoping this thread can be used as a resource for all players who are also putting on BDO events, so feel free to add your own input and suggestions! I may also add to this post as more issues come to light. It's almost certain that these suggestions have been made before but I'm hoping that I can provide a contextual argument for why they would be useful and viable.
Player-led events are immensely important to creating a robust community and exciting atmosphere within the game. They are at the heart of creating the buzz and drawl that defines a game's social community. Devs, give us the tools to make our events happen and let us surprise you with our ingenuity!
Communicating and promoting our events are very difficult at the moment. Because of (needed) mechanisms to stop gold-bots there are hurdles that event-organisers have to jump over to get things done. The current mechanism with the megaphone on server chat is reasonable and probably doesn't need change but...
    a) Whilst the personal messaging system on the forum is actually pretty good it doesn't have the immediacy of a proper inbox and messaging system ingame. I found that many players didn't even bother checking their forum messages. Please, please consider adding a messaging system within the game.  A quality archivable messaging between individuals -- and a group system for guilds -- would transform the social nature of the game for the better. If you're really interested in hearing player's voices, let us speak to each other!
    b) Also, there has already been a suggestion to create a Server Sub-forum. I feel this would be a great addition since the General forum is over-busy and filled with nonsense.
    Thanks!

Mercenaries & GuardsTrader & Marketers & Merchants & CraftsmanEntertainers & MusiciansPatricians & Diplomats (majority of the Guild Leaders job)Healers & Enginners
    OOC - related info:
We are by no means a Hardcore guild. Half of our Guild is contituted by EU side players and the other by NA players.
As a guild we a friendly, small, fun community that appreciates all new players. We will have various moments of travel, trade, roleplay, PvE and PvP (if possible) with the support of eachother and our alliances. Our community is organized in orders/branches and gives also place to smaller groups that decide to create their own clans/parties/familys with closer playmates.
The House of Festivities gives a lot of freedom to our members and their IC characters but also has RP group objectives: making events for the community and keep adventuring forward as a Guild.

    Recruitment information:
    History of the Order:
The Median merchant guild was full of riches and valuable goods. Both Calpheon and Valencias' gold were theirs. Media was at its' richest moment. Still, a bunch of merchants from the guild weren't happy. They never joined the Guild expecting it to be opportunist enough to take unique chances from war. Media's children and elderly were happy and fed, but the cities at war weren't.
This bunch of a dozen merchants came together towards Calpheon. Right after they left, the natural disasters deteriorated, losing themselves in desert landscape. For every village they saw during the way to Calpheon they gave their best regards to the people, helped them find provisions or even traded with them worth the little they had remaining.
Many times, long after the money and the goods were gone, they gave entertainment to the sick children and the oldies they met. When the group arrived at Serendia they could only feel happy: they were able to shower, to eat fish and boar, to sleep in warm beds, to be surrounded by living people. They saw opportunity. They could get resources in the wild here. They planned shows all across the lands to help people enjoy life; to help them forget wars and chaos for some time. They weren't affiliated to any nation. They traveled freely enjoying the goods they collected from the towns and people they visited and their smiles. Soon after they arrived at Calpheon they could see that war followed them wherever they went. Calpheon wasn't as peaceful as they thought, neither was Heidel or Serendia. They were prepared to make war for the sake of the black stones. The kingdom of Calpheon bestowed the traveling merchants with the title "The House of Festivities" . The merchants were paid to encourage and liven up Calpheon folk. At the same time, in 273, the war between Calpheon and Serendia was starting, and news from Media went around saying that the city of Altinova was constructed. The merchants fled from Calpheon, living the order ruined. The merchants of Media were never found again after the attack of Ilezra and the death of Variz the II.
At 281, Calpheon parliament establishes the recreation of the House of Festivities; the people are in low-spirits after all the wars and constant instability, there's a need for happiness to be promoted before a rebellion arises. The merchants that present themselves are mostly mercenaries out of hand, not entertainers. The parliament closes the case of overture of the House of Festivities.
In 283 a group of merchants and entertainers arrive at Calpheon. The group makes a proposal to the parliament of Calpheon, asking to be given the title of House of Festivities to themselves, pledging to schedule markets all around, and compromising on performing activities for Calpheon.
The parliament didn't agree, but since a diplomacy was in effect an assembly with a judge had to be made. The group confronted the government laying proof of testimonies, saying that the original merchants of the House of Festivities were not deprived from other cities and nations, they traveled around every country, giving diversion to the population.

The court gave reason to the group and the title was bestow on them. The House of Festivities is from now on a worldwide order!
     Notices:IC Notices
    Code of Conduct:
    HeadQuarters Location:
The House of Festivities has its Head-Quarters based on the central city of Hidel, in the Serendia Kingdom. The city thrives with recently arrived travelers and adventurers, commoners and merchants, bringing new trade opportunities and a place where diverse people cross paths.
Some days the Guild building is abandoned to the poor that take refugee on it's walls. Some other days the guild members reach the city after their long journeys and spend the night drinking hale and the day selling the richnesses they have collected along the way to noble heads or trade with the farmers and other folk. The mercenaries lay around or secretly avail some of the nobles to get good coin on their bags. Musicians play for the children and visit noble houses in exchange for silver.
Later they depart: pairwise or solo, to fill their own pockets. After a few days they allways come back, together on new journeys they depart, only to be back again, weeks later, months, a season. But always with smiles to share to the people of the land.

  15. Let me start by saying that the holiday events are a nice way to show appreciation and generate some fun variety and I appreciate you trying. However, these just feel phoned in. Why? They don't really have any in game feel to them. They feel ripped from the pages of some Hallmark calendar and tacked on. I'm one of those types that prefers the game events, shop items, etc to be of the world i'm playing in. It breaks immersion to see someone running around in a modern costume or to log in and see EASTER event. I'd even rather you just ditch the silly monthly holidays and create your own special events once or twice a year.
I guess this silly rant against game holidays also proves that I'll probably never be happy with anything...
  16. I have been out grinding and fishing and gathering and exploring and have found 10-20 of 3 of the 4 eggs and so far only 2 of the raindrop are they just that rare or is my rng avoiding them?

  17. Sup people,
I'm excited to announce the following EU PvP event -- this is a real event, not an April's fool prank --:

April 1st 9pm UTC on Croxus Server, Balenos C2
    Calpheon PvP Arena
This will be a 'last man standing event'. Kill everyone else and you win!
    The Rules:
    1. If you die, stay dead.
    2. Begin fighting only at the announcement.
    3. EVERYTHING else is in!

So i farmed about 8 hours now. I got 1 rainbow and 2 life eggs. This is redicoulus. i need to get 40 eggs for one furniture.. HOW? im at luck 5! a friend of mine with no luck at all has 35 eggs now. How can this be? is my account bugged or what? He farmed his eggs at the red orc camp, so i made a new character played to level 27 and tried my luck. in 1 1/2 hours, NOT 1 EGG. Damn. Just to be clear, i got 8 armor blackstones and 5 weapon blackstones in that time.
  19. I mean, there's a text field there that states: Latest Events: here

and yes, the "here" is a crappy non-obvious website link to the events forum section, but why doesn't it just list the events? there apparently is some big Easter Event happening right now isn't there?
I missed out on the just-finished boat whatever event because, once again, there was nothing indicating an event was happening in this section of the Launcher. Daum, can you please... do something about this as having this be our first point of information about something new in the game seems like such an obvious win.
(some of us actually do have to log out of the game y'know)

  21. Hey team!
Loving the game so far, thanks for all the hard work!  You have an awesome events tab located under your news section however it is empty!  Then, when you go to the events forum posts you see awesome events taking place in the community!
Would love some write ups/panels highlighting and announcing events on the main page!  I would even love to help!
Once again, thanks for all of the hard work and time into such a fun game!  I am looking forward to getting more involved in the community.
    Have an awesome weekend,

  24. Hallo,
    LG

    Events Specific to our Guild
    ·       MVM: Most Valuable Member
Officers can nominate a non-officer as MVM throughout each week. An officer can only nominate for one non-officer a week, but can change their nomination at any point. Each Saturday, the chosen MVM will be offered one of a few choices as a reward (ex: a contract increase for a short while, beer, etc. The reward will vary based on available resources and what the member needs).

    ·       Campains:
This is done when the guild needs funds or whenever members are up to it. Essentially, several guild members will get together and form a party. The party leader will set the looting system so they will auto-receive all rewards, and then mass slaughter of monsters. Everything gained during a campaign will go toward the guild, though it may be sold and converted into silver first. The party leader may only be the Bacon Bringer, the GM, or an officer the GM delegates.

    Commissioner:
    Markuk
Coordinates and communicates between the officers of the different types of items we need to play the game (Bacon Bringers, Home Manager, Resource Managers and Explorers) Runs the background stuff so that the average guild member can have fun playing.

    Potential Positions Available
Commander: This will be the person in charge of military stuff. They will be in charge of the fighters in the guild, organizing territory protection and seizure, guild wars, and protecting guild members from others (side note, the GM will have to click buttons to initiate guild wars and such, but this person is mostly in charge of the above)
    Openings: 1
Resource Manager: This person is in charge of making sure there are open slots in the guild warehouse (making sure items are sold or used so there is room for items that are automatically added). They are also in charge of making sure we have a ready stock of commonly needed materials for crafting (such as grains for beer)
    Openings: 1-2
Minion Manager: In charge of helping new members learn the ropes and dealing with squabbles. The official go-to person. (this will also be part of the GM roll)
    Openings: 1-2
Explorer Extraordinaire: In charge of exploring not only area of the map to see what's out there, but finding anything and everything on the map. This includes, but is not limited to: nodes, NPCs, quests, good spots for fishing/taming horses/grinding/uncommon monsters, secret caves (I've found two so far), etc.
Openings: ? (may be broken into sub groups)
Recruiter: In charge of fleshing out the numbers of the guild with quality members, helping decide who gets what contract levels, helping recruit through out of game means (website, forums)
    Openings: 1-2
Home Maker: In charge of keeping crafting things/processed materials available and delegating what things need crafted (this person will need to have a lot of processing kinds of homes owned on their personal account and lots of crafting skill knowledge)
    Openings: 1
Bacon Bringer: In charge of making sure the guild funds are always sufficient. This includes donating silver to the guild in emergencies. This person will probably do a ton of AFK fishing, as that's the best way to make money at this point, and might delegate the fishing money specifically to the guild. ALSO: will form parties with other guildies for the sole purpose of raising guild funds. These "Campaigns" will be mass monster slaughter, where a group of guildies kill monsters with the BB as the party leader and the looting system set to 'party leader'. This will auto-loot all items to the BB and allow for fast money gain. BB may want to have multiple pets. ALL items gathered during an official Campaign are to be used for the guild. It is important the BB make clear to those participating in the campaign that they will not benefit directly from the kills and that all funds will go to the guild.
    Openings: 1-2
