  1. Hello glorious BDO community!

x-posting from reddit as I'd like to get as much feedback as possible.

I'm currently looking for a side project to work on in my spare time to play around with some of the newer web technologies I haven't had the time to check out in the last year or so. I'd like to make something useful or fun for the BDO community, but I'd also like to be something that has longevity and will continue to be used by many people moving forward (ensures I'm motivated to keep working on it).

So I'm making this post to gather some ideas from the community on what sort of website/app you would like to see. Keep in mind that there is no open API for BDO, so fetching any sort of data from the game directly isn't possible. There are also a handful of existing and useful sites like http://www.somethinglovely.net/ - I'm not looking to build or replace something that already exists, unless it's no longer maintained and needs a replacement.

I've thought about something a bit more social, something that will allow people to connect and share. We have a lot of screenshots and character pics beying shared lately - maybe something to facilitate this? Just a thought!

Please share your ideas on what you'd like to see. I will be compiling a list and posting a poll at a later date to narrow down what people want the most - assuming there is any interest.

    Thanks!
  2. hello BDO community! I am coming back after a few month hiatus. Now a year into the game and the super competitive grinders have left for the most part...

What is everyone's gear score? (This means adding the AP/DP numbers together on your inventory screen. Do not add the awakened weapon. That is a seperate gear score)
This is just to help me understand what the average player power level is in the game.
  3. I'm still very new to this game, so please forgive my shortcomings. Feel free to correct me if my terminology and lingo aren't accurate. This testing was done on a Maehwa at level 18 for reference.
After thorough hours of testing I have found that the gamepad opinion is an extremely nice and useful feature, and I'm very thankful for it's implementation. Though with everything, no matter the greatness, some faults can always be found through trial, but with diligence addressed accordingly soon after if it's brought into the light. There were only a few things I noticed that if improved upon, would make for a much more engaging, thus enjoyable experience, with the already excellent performance of the gamepad. Perfection is always evolving and why it is so fun to strive for. No one is perfect, and practice makes better. With that being said let's move onto the topic at hand.
The very first thing I noticed when using the gamepad was how often I would unintentionally double tap a direction, executing a roll or dash, that caused the accidental use of the stamina and/or WP bar. I do understand how some people would prefer to use this feature, however I have come to the conclusion that any fast tilt to the left analog stick could generate this problem causing issues in the future. Seeing as customization is one of the key points, possibly most important, in setting keybindings, I don't think the complete removal of this is the right course of action. I do however suggest that in Settings, on the Game tab, under the Gamepad Settings, present the option to disable this feature by checking a box. Option reading: Disable Double Tap Movement. I'm unsure how possible this request is, but I think it would be very helpful and a much more forgiving addition then what is currently available. This is a game were a fast pace movement system is required to achieve optimize combat capabilities, so giving the option for a second guess moment would be very helpful, as I usually tap slightly unconventionally initializing this action. Second guessing ones own movement will cause this to happen more often then not, and this is why I believe this option would be a much welcomed improvement.
Lastly, while I was setting all of my keybindings to the gamepad, I noticed a rather bazaar thing. While holding down the bumpers, which I gather act as the function keys, I realized you are unable to make any type of movement with the left analog stick. This also creates a problem with the right analog stick when holding down both of them. It removes the ability to look around while granting you the zoom in and out function with up and down. I'm unsure why this effects the analog sticks this way, as that one step or over the shoulder look, lost in the process, would mean the difference between hit or miss. I suppose it was thought of to give the option to be able to key bind things to the function + left/right analog sticks. However, I personally wouldn't want to lose any type of moment, while holding down the function keys and using the right and left analog stick. It's possible I'm the only person that wouldn't want to bind anything other than character movement and camera movement to the left and right analog sticks, but from spending the hours testing this and keybinding, I've found there are more then enough buttons to keybind things without the use of the analog sticks in the process, other then them functioning solely as camera moment and character movement that is. I do however think that the lose of the vertical camera movement on up and down with both function buttons held down is minuscule and should remain as is, because it is a very nice feature to zoom the camera in and out and a good idea. I do however recommend still giving the ability for horizontal camera movement in the process. So, in Settings, on Game tab, under Gamepad Settings I recommend adding the option to enable analog movement while function keys are held. Option reading: Enable Function Analog Moment. The keyboard is needed to chat anyway , so leaving the least used hotkey functions on there to open up menus, or using the start button to manually access them, would make it entirely possible to get away with this implementation and create a much more immersive game.
Though I am still rather new to the game, and I haven't experienced everything this game has to offer, these are my thoughts on possible improvements to the gamepad. There might be more that present themselves in the future, but the base structure of how it functions at present is rather solid and complements go out to the developers for gamepad support. I do however, think there are some improvements that could work out for the better. It is my opinion that the gamepad isn't really used as much as the mouse and keyboard, thus these little things fly under the radar, so I'm submitting this post. Please feel free to comment, suggest, critique, and just in general join in on the conversation. Do keep in mind however when brainstorming it is best to remain calm and collected, as it's not necessarily they are insulting your opinion, but rather not understanding it. So, be the respectable community I know you can be and calmly discuss your debate. It hurts the creative process to ferociously argue. There is a fine line between argument and debate, and emotion tips the scale. Thank you for you time on this topic and sticking all the way to the end. Be productive and have a great day.

  4. So,
I left the game for over a month, I was getting frustrated at BDO, mainly due to the fact that I work, I cant spend all day, and I literally was failing behind. The game is a grindfest, and it sucks when a guy with more time than you, gets to crush you at grinding zones, open world, red battlefield, etc etc... I literally felt that I was just there to be the fooder for other ppl, and that I needed to invest everysingle amount of free time to grind, without the joy of doing other activities like horses, exploring, etc.
When I came back for awakenings, my first two weeks, sucked horrible, it was all over that horrible experience again. The awakenings made stuff better, but the main issue was there, until I realized and someoen told me that I could log into olvia channels, I read about them, I logged into those channels, and OMG! Its like I literally started to enjoy BDO like in the good times!!.
I go to pirates, and yes I get my ass kicked, and sometimes I get to kick some ass, I go to pvp arenas, and the game its fun, im playing with ppl my own level, and the game its fun.

Point is, the game is clearly dividen by growth level, we in game, have already a ranking for this.
Im guessing there should be also a general growth level meter , that functions accross all channels.

Why take the olvia channels idea forward, and we make it that some channels are restricted according to your growth, and they have a exp bonus accordingly (the lower growth channels, would have more of an exp boost than those on a A growth channel).  We put in place the similar rules as in Olivia channels (if you are the required growth level, you can enter). Also there would be free channels, for ppl to play together. Exactly as the olvia system right now. I am able to do node wars with my guild, grind with guild groups on other channels, but when im solo I can hope into olvia channel and then get to play and meet ppl my growth level.
Im not gonna lie, the system as it is right now, im afraid that as soon as I get kicked from Olivia channels, Im going to quit for a month, only to be able to get back at Olivia again.

  6. I saw the first inklings of this game seep onto YouTube through the initial Korean beta years ago. I was skeptical at first, curious second, and finally, excited as hell. Now, after all this time has passed after the NA release, I was finally able to sit down with the game during the holiday sale event and give it my all.
Now, my desktop isn't a dual Nvidia titan 32GB ram intel i7 monster or anything like that, but it isn't bad by any means. I'm running an Nvidia GTX750 GPU, 16GB ram, 750w PSU, and a AMD Athlon II X3 445 Rana CPU. As far as what I'm seeing in the specs required for this game, I should be able to run it at mid settings without a hitch. For the most part, that's been true. I'm usually clocking 25~30fps out far from towns, closer to 20fps in densely populated areas. I'm not picky, so by my standards, that's acceptable.
From a performance standpoint, I don't have any major gripes, except one that has continually prevented me from enjoying this game for any more than an hour at a time. It will randomly freeze without any obvious reason, and shortly thereafter crash to the desktop. I've tweaked every graphic option available, even running on optimization mode, the issue is not tied to my desktop's ability to handle the game. As frustrating as it was, and as many times as it interrupted me in the most inconvenient moments, I persisted and opened the launcher again.
I had this occur perhaps 2 dozen times in the 16 hours I have logged on my character.
Also, I'm a damned Warrior. Warriors need head protection. Why are there no models tied to the in-game helmets? I'm quite butthurt over that. Oh, but if I fork over money to you you'll give me a shell of a helmet that provides no actual benefits but to shield my ugly mug from the public. Gotcha. There are too many instances of decisions like these that seem nonsensical and out-of-place. The game Pearl Abyss has going here has so many phenomenal aspects, but all these tiny things holding it back. I won't rave about all the good this game has to offer, because chances are, if you're reading this, you're a fan of the title and already know what's good about it.
I'm aware this is a pay-to-own MMO, which is an odd business model. If all these tiny issues were addressed, I'd pay for a monthly subscription, no doubt. The production value, soundtrack, graphic fidelity, set and setting, lore, attention to detail, gameplay in general, harvesting/gathering/crafting systems, dynamic stat improvements, they're incredible. They're everything I want in an MMO. Dare I say, this is as close to a perfect experience as I can hope to get in this day and age with an online game. I had dreams about games like these coming out when I was younger, and now that it's here, I'm so sad to say that I'm prevented from fully enjoying it. These are Skyrim and Fallout levels of immersion I'm feeling, but until these (glaring, performance-related issue and) stupid little annoyances are dealt with, if they ever are, I can't get over them. That's why I'm so butthurt. I actually love the decisions made to preserve realism with having to transport resources between storage locations, stamina affecting the distance you can swim, etc. A lot of people probably consider these inconveniences, I consider them overlooked aspects of immersive game design.
The future has a lot to hold. Hopefully a successor to this game that will won't make creative decisions based on paywalling it's players, or, ideally, a series of patches that turns it into the game I always hoped it was going to be. Take all of this with a grain of salt, though my levels of salt are brimming at maximum. I'm but one person in the vast sea of consumers here, probably a set of unpopular opinions, and with just a tad too much time on his hands to type out this grievance.
PS. I had to make a separate account from my game account to actually post this. Not sure why, forum wasn't recognizing my login information at ALL. Another tiny demerit for the record books.
  7. Greetings!
I'm writing this post in hopes of facilitating open and constructive feedback from the NInja/Kunoichi Community to Kakao/Pearl Abyss.  As we're pretty much all aware, the Ninja/Kuno community has been somewhat vocal about the lack of Quality of Life (QoL) adjustments making their way from KR to NA/EU.  @GM_Dew and others have kindly provided us with communication updates, and that has been appreciated.
To quickly recap the situation, after waiting for the classes to be released in NA/EU, Ninja/Kunoichi community members were faced with additional delays - officially stated to have occurred because of an impending Quality of Life update.  After waiting an additional 3 months, we received those classes at long last, but without the aforementioned QoL update.  Needless to say, that irked some folks, and I feel that the inboxes of the forward-facing Community team members have reflected that over these past few months.  However, as we near the Awakening, and the presumed inclusion of the QoL updates, I make this plea to Pearl Abyss, through Kakao - please make sure that you have at least the 9/29 Quality of Life patch pushed to NA/EU for our Awakening.  This specific patch brought about mobility enhancements that, from all community reports, allowed the KR players to actively enjoy the Awakening in Player vs Player combat.
Again, some of us have waited patiently through the launch of the game, until the delayed release of the class, and held strong despite being deprived the intended Quality of Life enhancements.  Launching the Dec 7th Awakenings in a state that resulted in KR Ninja players using their Awakening solely for PvE encounters, would be a difficult pill to swallow.  Let's work together to head off any potential anguish.  What do you need from us, as a Ninja/Kuno community, to assist in making sure that these adjustments make it into the launch of our Awakening here in NA/EU?
    Sincerely,
    Nerfs

  8. Post on The Price of Convience in General

    By Xaruses, posted
    Afternoon,
I am here to give my feedback on the current state of the game. Let me first say that I love the atmosphere that they created in Black Desert Online. The night/day cycles are amazing the character models are nicely detailed and the amount of things to do in the game ensures that there is a little something for everybody. I am enjoying the game however there seems to be a lot of questionable game design decisions revolving around the cash shop. There are a few tweaks that could be made as well to the overall game in some areas (Valencia). So lets jump into it.
    Cash Shop
Gaming is a hobby of mine, and I like to support the games I play, however I believe the model used to monetize this game is destructive to the game-play itself not to mention dishonest to some of the players. In regards to the item in particular "Artisans Memory", this item allows you to repair end game gear (Boss gear) at 3X the rate used in conjunction with memory fragments. The way gear is upgraded and is certainly RNG leading to a failure to repair the max durability. Its no surprise memory fragments are a little bit of a pain to get (Its end game gear it should be difficult). But allowing an item to bypass a large potion of the population that will not spend money on this item seems crazy to me. Not to mention the people that do purchase this item and fail upgrading there gear over and over again will have to spend a ton more to repair their gear. It seems like a deceptive scheme, while the artisans memory does exactly what is advertised, the purpose of it is to roll again on an RNG upgrading system. If it was felt that memory fragments were to difficult to get why not add it as a turn in reward for the seals you get off normal bosses? There are plenty of ways to make them more available. I completely understand some people don't have a ton of time to play sometimes and others believe that it's ok to have this item in the shop however, at what price do you say its not worth it when failing your gear and resulting in going back to the cash shop, its similar to gambling but not shown directly.  For the players on both sides of the argument, it's a very deceptive business practice to gain money for the game. Some things in the game are crafted very carefully to allowing for a short cut by buying a cash shop item. For example looting. Why not just make an area loot? What does everyone else thing about items in the cash shop? What could be changed so everyone wins?

    Valencia
The desert is a great area but unless you are looking for a specific drop it seems not worth it for grinding, your total net gain of money is lower due to having to pay for a villa to have easy access to repair. I do believe the clear speeds of most classes will improve as more awakenings get released but for now and up to this point its been pretty lackluster. Although I would love to make my main house in Valencia city, its just so far out of the way. It would be nice to possibly buff the drops in the desert area to attract more players to spread out among grinding areas. What do you guys think would make the area more attractive to players? What changes would you make?

I'm sure this will fall on deaf ears but I wanted to through in my feedback to many get some people thinking, and hopefully posting on what they think could/would help black desert online.
Video games should be fun, not feeling like a need my wallet to progress. I believe everyone works hard for their money and the players should not be treated like this.
I have a ton more feedback to give and would love to discuss I currently do not have all the time to type it all. So I will leave this with the rest of the black desert community. I will check back periodically.

    Thanks!

  9. Hello,
I would like to state a complaint as to the inconsistency and irregularity of our auction system within BDO. The Marketplace, to be direct about it, is a terrible tool when it comes to high end items that demands lengthy but indeterminate waiting periods before trying to click a button and type in a code. Sometimes if you successfully are able to click the button fast enough you can wait another shorter but also indeterminate amount of time before repeating the process and this can go on for several rounds before inexplicably the item is announced as already sold. At other times however, item's will pop up and disappear immediately because while there was going to be an item queue the hidden roll (or whatever hidden mechanism is used) selects them winners.
Then we hit the pre-order system which I can only surmise sends to pre-order about 2/3rds of the items posted but otherwise completely passes over the pre-order system and lands on the regular market. How the system selects items to go "up" or to "orders" is completely hidden and at times seems like a continuation of the regular RNG and this is just frustrating beyond belief as players sit with the market window open, unable to read guild/party/server chat, unable to accept party invites, unable to see anything but eagerly awaiting a purple 1 to appear so they can madly hit refresh after anywhere from 11 to 25 minutes but wait, no button for us because the pre-order picks up the item, not when it was posted (sometimes it does) but rather 15ish minutes into the wait for the item. It is all just too hidden and too inexplicable.
I, for one, fully appreciate the way in which trade has been restricted. I dislike but understand the market cut which restricts profit gained from the marketplace. But, I cannot understand why four times a day I have to stop what I am doing, swap to an alt, sometimes cancel a pre-order so I have enough silver, and stare at a grey icon for 20 minutes hoping to not get jacked up by a hidden system that teases me along. Why do it this way? It gets you no monetary benefit. It gets you pissed off players. Please find a way to solve these issues or, simply enough, standardize and publish the method by which the market works so we can spend more time enjoying the game.
    Thank you.

  10. Post on Maehwa/Musa Equilibrage in Maehwa

    Yop,

  11. Combat in Black Desert Online is a huge part of the game; the player will go through many hunting grounds from when they start their experience, hunting various monsters and obtaining knowledge.

Through this, you increase in power allowing you to hunt more effectively, this makes sense, is a form of progression and rewards players by enabling them to increase their power-level.

Would it be possible with this in-mind to come up with a way of making knowledge obtained through combat progressively rewarding too? So the more knowledge you have, the more powerful / intelligent your character becomes, to what degree and magnitude this depends on how 'skilled' your character is; for example, having 10 S rank monster knowledge increases the chance to obtain S rank knowledge by X% / 0.1%, having 25 S rank monster knowledge increases the chance to gain S rank knowledge by X% 0.25%.

This is just a quick example but yes, do we believe there is a way to improve combat-obtained-knowledge? I'd take any improvements to its current form, a progressively rewarding system such as the more S ranks you have, the more likely you are to obtain S rank knowledge is the best I can come up with.

What ideas, suggestions and such does everyone else have?

    -Snoop
  12. Bonjour,

  13. Post on Leaving Game in General

    By Moira, posted
First off please don't take this post to be a thread whining about the game or begging for attention, I simply can't find the location of the goodbye thread that was originally in this section and decided to make my own thread and wished to provide feedback . I have indeed decided to leave Black Desert with the possibility of return in the future, however at the moment the game itself leaves a lot to be desired.
Customer service has been atrocious since the start and the only questions answered in a timely manner were done so through the staff here on the forums. Month long (or longer) tickets that were answered multiple times and yet not resolved, and then a system for feedback about it that involves 2 links of whether they did a good job or a bad job with no options for providing any actual feedback. Yes, I realize there is an email you can send feedback about these issues to, my point is that if you've ever dealt with customer service with any other company and gotten an email to provide feedback about your experience, there's a lot more options than just clicking one of two links. If you have multiple GM's handle a ticket like I did, this system does not work as some were good, and some bad.
The cash shop felt more and more like money grabbing over time with the prices and amount of RNG certain things provided being horrible. Costumes originally costing more than the game itself was a joke, and the adjusted price afterward was not at all helpful. Things like horse skill changes felt like nothing more than a gambling game as $20 worth of skill resets still failed to yield anything other than the same skills the horse had previously and I feel needs adjusting to be a little more reliable.
The games content. Most are aware that this game has been out for awhile now and that the Korean version is much further in than we are. Not everyone knew that when they first purchased this game that content was going to be released in a way where there was going to be lack of sieges, and content rushed month after month. The ironic thing is that even with the content being put out at a much faster rate, there are still constant delays for things that should have been implemented much earlier like security features to deal with bots and hackers. The hacker situation being it's own thing which I won't bother going into.
The Amity game. Dear god the Amity game... die in a fire Mevo. Fail 5 times? No thanks. Fail 4 times? No thanks. Fail even 2 times? Roll the dice and lose 75% of the time. The Amity system needs to be adjusted so that it's more of a skill based game, and not one where you lose everything you've accomplished the previous round due to once again..RNG.
As for the reason I'm leaving, I'm just not having fun with the game anymore and tired of waiting to see if every update is going to bring something that will keep my interest. I'll check the game out again in the future when all the content is there, the customer support has more people to speed up the process, the cash shop has possibly gone down in price a bit, and things that should have been in the game already are finally in.
I wish everyone the best, and hopefully you all will enjoy the game more so than I did.
  14. TL;DR below
So after reading the patch notes and a lot of comments about the new change added to the exp loss, I meditated for a while and to be honest I don't really see that much difference with the idea but it seems like a lot of people strongly disagrees with it, here at the forums atleast.
I am not as hardcore as I would like but I got to play enough to spend quite a bit of time at grinding on sausans (since it seems to be the spot where most problems and complains come from). I have been pushed out of my spot with my party some times and I defended successfully the spot others too. That's ok for me, the strongest party/guild should and can get a spot.
This game for the (hardcore) players  (like most games) is about time optimisation, so losing the time isn't good for anyone. When grinding, you want to kill as much as possible in the minimum time possible, so you get more drops/exp. If someone steals mobs or tries to kill you, both sides are losing time or rather investing it in order to keep/get the most efficient grinding spots.
So taking aside the people that really wants to grief or ruin other people experience (they are able to do it anyway, the change isn't affecting them. They can have 0 exp, no guild and a lot of time to lose, so the exp loss doesn't mean anything to them) Let's see the rest: Other people that are at a same spot than others is because a) are doing some quest/are casuals and won't stay there much, specially if you kill/push them away b) actual players that want to grind for exp/drops.
Into the second group, most people wants to get some profit of his time but probably has time to lose aswell. And that's where the changes aren't in favor of this group, because all the above have an easier time and the last ones now can fight more for spots without that many penalties. Basically more fights without pk (stealing mobs) will occur, and probably more guild wars in order to kill the rest at the spots without losing karma (remember that guild wars implict whole guilds, so for weaker guilds they might not be desired).
In that last case, fear might shift from losing exp to being permanently killed by other guilds, but not only you, the whole guild. So maybe some people has the fear of involving their whole guild on such things.
However, for the time I have been playing, popular spots have always some channel empty, unless you want best sausan spot. But as I said earlier, people wants to get most efficient spots because they don't want to lose time, so the most likely thing to happen is to try to steal the best spot, but it's a waste of time if the party grinding it is stronger than you. (They will clear it faster than you and they can kill you aswell). So as logic tells me, people will find the best spot they can within their possibilities, looking for an empty one/a spot with a weaker party than theirs. That has been happening on every game and here aswell, nothing new.
Also consider that at highest levels, the exp loss becomes an exponential penalty (better gems are more expensive too though), so until now the only way of dying without losing exp was with cash shop items. Remember that we are in a B2P game and P2W is a thing, but that's another topic.

In my opinion I like the change but I think that it doesn't fit properly with other systems like the respawn and the karma systems. People has less fear to die and therefore they don't care about dying more being pk'd, so the players that pk, now have more restriction because they get to negative karma easier as long as people tends to die more. You can respawn at the nearest node which is pretty near at most grinding spots and go back to fight/grief at the spot.
We should consider the fact of karma being a thing intended to people who pk's, getting into negative karma, and risking theirselves.

    TL;DR
To sum up, this change incites the players to fight more due to less penalties on dying, which can lead to more wars and more pvp. However it also allows players to grief more easily and restricts players from pk/not getting negative karma.

I strongly think that an easy fix that would keep the fighting for spots in a similar way as before would be to make a little tweak to the respawn system:
Players that get killed can choose:
spawn at the node losing exp as before  (maybe they would need to have atleast 1% exp to sacrifice, or not)spawning at town without losing exp. That would keep penalties but add the possibility of choosing, also a way of not having to pay. Tears would still be a thing and the karma system would still make some sense.

    What do you think?

  15. I've been playing for almost 3 months and have watched many an event happen in this game. This is usually great and all but I have noticed that with the events here there is always a lot of confusion and the directions/rules are never very clear.
After taking a look at one of the event threads today (the "We are family" thread) it has come to my attention that MOST of the people that participated in that event will not get the title by no fault of their own. There were tons of questions asked throughout the entire thread about the form we had to fill out asking what name people were supposed to submit because the directions were NOT clear. There was a ton of confusion and it was never cleared up by the CMs until AFTER the event ended. Then it openly states they wanted your char's FIRST name and not last or both.
This is highly unfair to the players participating in these events and I have noticed this happening in several different events. Lots of questions about shoddy rules/directions and no answers or clarifications. Tons of entries being disqualified or thrown out because of rules the player didnt understand or know existed. In fact, in the art thread pages of questions about the rules were removed rather than being addressed and answered. This is poor business practice.
When you leave rules "open to interpretation" you cant fault the player for coming to their own conclusions. In the case of names a very logical conclusion would be that since this game FORCES us to have a last name that you'd want both a first and last (family) name of a char. Or just the family name.
So I respectfully suggest that from now on when running an event the CMs dont just copy/paste from PA etc and stop and think about the rules and how they will be interpreted by the player base. Please make the rules clear and concise so there is no question what they mean and what you are asking for. If you want a first name make sure that slot on the form specifically asks for a first name. If you accept any art form/medium make sure that is stated right off and so on. Be clear and dont bend on your rules.
Also, if there are questions about said rules then be sure you are watching the threads and answering them rather than brushing them off. People want these events and they want to participate and it is not fair to have their hard work trampled on or brushed off because of poorly worded rules.
While at it please consider the "idea" of the events as a whole. There have been a lot of other mistakes when running events as well like poor timing (running say an art contest which takes a lot of time and effort at the same time as a combat contest), poor general idea (having events where only high lvl players can access the rewards spots), terrible drop rates (killing mobs for hours and hours and getting a whopping 1 "insert drop item here"), and so on.
Like I said before, we love these events and we want more of them but you are making it very hard on us to participate and enjoy said events for the above said reasons and more. Please consider this in the future.
Thank you for reading or TL;DR: You should read.
  16. hello community.
I've been playing this game since release, I really like it, but there are a few things that bother me and I'd like to see changed.
I'm not gonna start a discussion about balance, world bosses and ninja release here. that is centainly stuff that needs to be talked about, but this thread shouldn't be the place for that.
loot disparity in world bosses has been discussed a lot and needs to be adressed surely. ofc not everyone should get a piece of boss armor/kzarka weapon for hitting the boss once, but generel loot of the lower dps brackets should be raised.
    so, here we go:
    skill resets
why do we only get one full reset per account and the rest is pearl items? how about a free reset per month, so we can experiment a little?RNG on cash shop items
when I buy a pet and exchange it (making 1 pet out of 2 pets) I don't want it to be RNG whether I get a pet with useful skills or not. character bound costumes
seriously? I gotta be honest here, if the costumes were family bound, I'd have bought more. but 30 euros for a character bound costume is just too much.skill awakening
there is just way too much RNG for the amount of ingame silver we need to spent. the amount of silver sinks is too high
30% tax on marketplace. item repair. durability repair. potions. skill awakening resets... people that aren't rich already will never get rich anymore.value of life skill
the amount of silver you can make with life skills is too low. grinding still beats everything. this is a little unfair to people that actually have a life and can't spent 24/7 grinding.energy cost on processing
I heard that in korea processing doesn't cost energy. why do we have energy cost on processing?marketplace sniping bots
it is literally impossible to get certain items on the marketplacemarketplace prices
prices for items that are constantly sold out should go up (relic shards, forbidden books). in general, some items values seem to be quite off.patch notes
guild wars 2 anyone? more detailed patchnotes wouldn't hurt anyone, but stuff like "something adjusted" isn't really helpfulhidden stats
I don't really understand why there even are hidden stats, just show us stuff like accuracy.damage numbers
to help min/max people like me, it would be very helpful to see some damage numbers.please tell me what you think about these points and what else you would like to see changed.
after all mmos are driven by their community and games should be adjusted (at least in parts) to what the community desires.
(I don't say that these points are what the community wants, it's just stuff that I'd personally like to see adressed)

  17.
    Introductory:
I'd like to start off my saying that I in no way claim to be a BlacK Desert Online professional. I wouldn't even describe myself as very knowledgable about the game. What I am about to state below is solely based on my opinion and my current and previous experiences with the game. So please don't take the feedback the wrong way, even if you disagree as it is only my point of view and other people may see things differently than me.

    My Character/s:

My - hopefully constructive - criticism:
I'll just mention a few things that have stuck out to me and which I would like to address, so here goes.
    Class Balance
I know this has been talked about a lot already, but I would like to add my two cents to it as well. I am currently very dissatisfied with the overall class balance in the game. Not so much in PvE perhaps - eventhough there seem to be balancing issues as well - but mostly in regard to PvP. It has come to my attention that meele classes seem to have a very tough time with Player VS Player combat in this game. Playing the Musa class myself I sometimes find myself absolutely obliterated from afar without really knowing whatever has hit me or a real chance to launch a counterattack. This last point is what enrages me the most. I don't mind being attacked by surprise, but if that happens I would like to be able to at least fight back and have a chance to do something. The way it stands now I often just get knocked down by a ranger and get killed in less than a second. Or a sorcerer that does absurd damage yet can't be hit because the class teleports inifnitely all around the place. Now, I realize that a lot of these issues may stem from lack of experience in playing my particular class. However, I am very avid and competetive when it comes to PvP. I WANT to improve myself despite all of this apparent "imbalance", BUT I am sure that there is a large chunk of people that will not put up with that. They'll have the experience I do/did and they won't want to put up with it, and rightfully so. I do not think this can be fixed easily, perhaps with the awakening patch, which I would like to urge you to bring to us as fast as humanly possible.

    Desync
This is an issue I have especially but no exclusively when I do PvP combat. People just port all around the space, spells hitting me that should have been dodged, in turn, my skills that should have hit on my screen miss etc. I understand BDO is a seamless large world and the action combat in such a large space is probably hard on the server hardware with so many players around. But that issue should have been considered when making such an MMO. The combat should feel reactive and fluent. Right now it does not, imo. Right now it feels very laggy and unresponsive to me and that is a huge enjoyment issue to me.
    Red Battlefield
I've got to be 100% honest here and I realize this may sound harsh but I don't think I have ever seen a battleground in a game that was so poorly executed. The imbalance in the Red Battlefield strikes me as horrendous. All the issues explained above contribute to a very bad experience when joining. Also, the spawns seem to be rather odd. The enemy frequently just camps the spawn of the other team and while I realize that there is a "invulnebility" buff given from the NPC on the top platform I still think it's bad game design to let an enemy team blatantly camp someone's spawn when they are losing already to begin with.

    Field Bosses
Another popular issue on these forums that I would like to address here. I very much dislike the current field boss system in the game. It is beyond comprehension for me how a world boss is able to basically one-shot any class in the game. Even warriors while blocking. Due to that meeles naturally have more difficulties of getting DPS in and in turn die more frequently. Which in in itself is another issue because we lose experience upon death and possibly crystals socketed in our gear as well. I personally die about 5 to 10 times per world boss fight and it is not a pleasant experience for me at all. I suggest toning down the damage those bosses do and delete experience and crystal losses when dying to a monster that is flagged as a world boss. That's just a quick hasty suggestion but the world bosses really irk me in this game when normally it is a feature in MMO's I thoroughly enjoy participating in.

I wanted to do a bigger writedown but doing this off of the top of my head that is it for now. I'll probably end up editing this here and there but those seem to be the biggest gripes about the actual game systems for me right now, leaving out things such as hackers, botters and the likes for now because obviously no one likes those. I hope this is relatively constructive and thanks for reading if you made it this far, regardless of if you agree or not!
  18. Hi guys! I've been playing for about...a full week now, and I would like to give some feedback from what I've learned/experienced. Only level 30 ish at this current time. I'm in no way an expert on anything said here, but just my insight on things I've been trying in this game. I'm not bashing Daum, any other player, or PA. Going to try and stay neutral, because I've browsed the forums for a bit. Anyway, onward to some of my feedback! If people have some constructive criticism, I'll be glad to hear it. ^^
    Character Creation: What I liked
The most in-depth I've seen on the MMO's I've played and tried. You can customize almost everything, and I was in the creator for HOURS. I had fun messing around with the options available. I could also customize the body shape, hair shape, etc etc of the character I wanted. It really made it feel that I could create the character I always wanted in a MMO. It was a real blast, and I do go back from time to time to see what else I can do.
    Things that can be improved
More hairstyles. The hairs were very limited on what you can choose from. I just hope more will be released as time goes on.
More ttattoos. Maybe add a few more over time, because the ones there I didn't like very much.
More colors to choose from. Color slider? Instead of a select few you can only choose from. It would be pretty cool to have more colors.

    Earning Money: What I liked
Earning silver is actually not that hard to come by. Which I do like very much in a MMO. I was able to buy a nice horse to run around on, which is cool! Buying potions is easy enough without going completely broke. It's nice if you grind somewhere for a while, and you can hand in certain amount of an item for cash. I also like this. Makes grinding in areas for exp worth it.
    Things that can be improved
Not that I can list here at the current moment, as I'm not level 50, and have yet to experience endgame yet.
    Horses: What I liked
Horses, horses, horses! I always loved horses as a child, and it's good to know they are the viable transportation in BDO. Breeding is pretty cool. You don't know what you're going to get. So, it's a surprise to me if I get a female, which I see is the less % of getting. ^^
    Things that can be improved
Who needs a coupon to change a horse's name? I really don't like the way you have to use RL money to change your favorite horse's name. (This is a different case if you buy a horse from someone, and you don't like the name it has). Same with skill resets, and death resets. These should be ingame items, costing silver, to buy these things instead. Breeding system is a bit grindy, but this a KR MMO, so that's expected.

    The World: What I liked
I was surprised you couldn't teleport to any of the major towns/cities, which in other MMO's I've played, could. This was a pretty neat option to go with. You can travel anywhere you want on your mighty steed! I've done this, and doing this over and over again isn't getting old for me.
    Things that can be improved
Trading. Why is this disabled? I know I read it's to 'stop RMT', but really, it's not a good thing to do. There are other ways to stop RMT. i hope KR enables it again, because it feels weird to not trade with people.

    Cash Shop: What I liked
The outfits are really pretty. There's a low selection of what you can choose from, but I'm sure that'll change as patches come to NA/EU BDO. I also like you can dye your stuff, but the dye system needs some work tbh.
    Things that can be improved
Prices. Are ridiculous. I could get outfits much cheaper in F2P games. 22 dollars for a set is a bit steep, don't you think? Maybe bringing down the prices will give Daum mores sales on sets of outfits.
Mix and Matching. You can't do that, or you lose your...outfit set buff. Wish this wasn't the case.
Character Bound. I don't like this at all. Including when outfits are way too pricey for one set. Why can't they be shared, since your whole account can be shared with all your characters. (Like horses/storage) ???

    Other Things: What I liked
Auto path system. I always find myself getting lost in the world of BDO, and auto pathing to a city is useful for me. I'm directional challenged. XD:
Trading system.. I always loved commerce in games, and it let's you see the world. Sure it may not give the fastest money, but trading is a big thing for me in a game. I love commerce!
Gathering/Processing System. I always loved life skills like crafting and gathering. Though it costs me tons of energy, but it's worth the effort to get the items you need for crafting. I haven't experienced what the system has yet fully, but it's pretty neat.
    Things that can be improved
Constant Disconnections. This is like very big issue for me. I find myself d/cing so much, even when my internet and ping are not the culprit. I've done multiple checks with Daum's FAQ on d/cs and what not. It's not me, and I believe their servers really need to be worked on better. I know they are only a publisher, but this is a major turn off for me. It ruins my gameplay a lot with the constant disconnections. Please fix this asap.
Lag. I get this a lot when fighting monsters. I see my land hit, but the monster didn't take ANY damage whatsoever at all. They would be right on me, when I saw them far away (I'm playing Witch right now). I don't know why I'm having many issues, when my connection is strong and I'm not having any packet loss. :c

  19. Currently the market bid system isn't working as intended to protect us from market bots. Here is how it works.
    1. A hot item goes on sale.
    2. When it pops, it goes into bid mode.
    3. Players bid. Player has to get lucky to win item.
    4. If nobody wins bid, it goes to regular sell mode. HERE IS THE PROBLEM. --- Market bot can still snipe the item.
It should be changed. When all the bids are in, 1 person will win the bid. Remove step 4 completely then it will be a pure RNG system for everybody including the bots. This way players have a chance to get the item. As of now, it gets sniped in less than 0.01 sec.

  20. Does Daum actually tell Pearl Abyss what is happening here in NA/EU?
Why doesn't anyone from PA talk to us?
Are we actually being told the truth by Daum?
    in other words
WHERE THE HECK IS PEARL ABYSS?!?!?

    6; TL;DR
    Introduction
Hey Bois / Girls. Today i have a topic about some personal feedback that i feel like i want to share in a constructive way for everyone to see and if you agree on my opinions that's cool, if you don't, that's cool too.
Please keep your responses to the thread constructive.
TL;DR at end of the thread.

    BDO:Gameplay
Gameplay: Combat, Talents, Classes & overall discussion about the game.
From the very first time i entered BDO i loved the combat experience and what makes me like it is the combo playstyle and i loved these kind of games since first day i tried them out in Tera -> Blade and Soul and Black Desert. These combat games are much more fun than other games like World of Warcraft "WoW" as it is my main game within the MMO-Genre.
However on-going with the combat, BDO made a good combat system, it feels well polished and responsive, i feel entertained whenever i fight against something.
Talents. I will not hop into a sort of "balance" system of talents but overall: I love them, i feel excited whenever i had enogh points to learn a new talent to see how it looks and how it works and most of the time i was impressed visually and they where FUN to use and that what's makes the combat good, FUN TALENTS.
Classes, There is a bunch of them out there and we're still missing a few of them.
However, it has been a pleasure trying them all out even yet i haven't been able to try them out in max performance at higher levels they have all felt unique and fun to play in their own way, as you have to adapt to their playstyle and i like that a different class should bring a different playstyle, it should feel unique and i think BDO does good there.
I could speak forever about a game in a feedback thread but in a overall discussion about BDO I feel that BDO is created with a passion where it is supposed to keep players active and logged in most of the times either doing some profession working or taking care of there fellow followers/workers to do some work and others trying to catch something in the water while others are hunting for cool stuffs on the lands! BDO has TONS of features and allows you to do a lot in the game.
Personally i spent over a month in the game before i started to level up to learn the worker system and professions, great overall experience in most parts.
    User Interface
Unit Interfaces in BDO. This is a place for improvements.
I could discuss the UI forever but to make this a short version of my long list is that i'd like to see improvements on features like this: More accessibility while traveling as some menys can't be opened at that time.
Improvements on the features for inviting other members to a party. I found it very hard to sometimes invite other players to a party when they are running around while i try to stand beside them mousing over and pressing F keys.
I'd also like to see better/more channel commands for speaking in certain channels like /G for Guild and /C for Channel and /RP for Roleplaying, i know some of these work but some do not and in case they do, maybe i haven't figured it out yet.

    "Hidden statics"
Okay, this is where one of my biggest problems is when reading talents, statics and information about my character. I found it very hard to calculate certain things when it stands +1 Luck or +1 Accuracy. Most of the times we all know what Luck and Accuracy do but i'd like to see a feature explaining that while i mouseover it to see additional information. When i started playing BDO i had to google about Luck becuase i wasn't certain what it did and if +1 was worth it and how much it affects drop-rates and so on, you get my point.
    More information about statics please.
    Cash Shop "CS"
Cash Shops. Personally i have nothing against them, as most of the games on the market today are in possession of a Cash Shop feature.
However, there is limits to what they should and to what they are containing, depending on the game of course.
    Buy to Play "B2P"
These kind of games should have a Cash Shop where most items are cosmetic, ETC: Costumes & Decors.
Most Cash Shops also contains Account Transaction items such as: Name changes, Customization changes and other things.
    Free to Play "F2P"
These games often contains items that can be bought in order to give you RAW "advantages" over someone else.
It can be items that you buy in the CS who sells for currency in the game and thus you have money to spend to grow stronger faster and gain "advantages" over someone who did not buy a item from the CS.

    BDO Specific Situation:
BDO Has a large CS with various items, from Costumes "Cosmetic" items to items who are more of a convenience to have.
Convenience items in BDO can be such as "Weight" Limit increase items or a costume that gives you 10% more experience and horse items for faster speed and so on.

In a personal matter i wouldn't find these items a problem but in BDO i find items with experience a small part of a issue as BDO is a game that has no max levels in it and each level gains you a lot of strength at later end game and having a flat 10% more experience than someone is not okay. I will not go into details on this discussion.
Personally, most of the items outside costmetic things should be removed and other items should be put into the game and not inside the CS as this game is a B2P but at the same time has some connections to a F2P Game.
    Information/Support - InGame & Forums
This is a hot topic: Information, Support and community.
This is the most interesting part for me as these words simulate love and dedication. Show support and dedication for something you will receive love for it, show love for something you will receive credit and support for doing so.

So by this let me have this topic started:
From my point of understanding there has been a lot of blown-ups on the forums and across the game about certain things "no details" and that yet remain un-resolved or lack of information about the issues.
Again my understanding is that Daum for BDO is a publisher and there resources are very limited and has lead to certain issues has been taking a long time to solve and it takes long time to get information about on-going fixes.
    Support/Ticket
I've seen and heard that it can take up to a month to receive a answer about your current on-going issue in the support section. Personally this is not acceptable. I know some companys have different policys about waiting time. I take Blizzard Entertainment for a example: They have 24-48 Hours as a waiting time but often responses within a few hours.
You can argue they're a multi-billion dollar company but i've been with them back in vanila "2004" when they had no less than 20 People running the game and the support section.
What happened? They increased the staff members to resolve hot on-going topics until things calmed down where they can cut back on it, this is what i want daum to do when it comes within support becuase again, having such a high response time is not acceptable, however, that's me personally.
    Patch/Forum Information & Details
This goes hand into hand with previous discussion but there are some things that is different here. I am a person who love being social on forums and collect information and read-up on it.
When i first read a patch note on the forums here i had to double check it in case it was true and to even understand it.
Our last patch at may 4 Daum stated that Blader, had received certain fixes and balances within PvP, What are those? I don't see any specific information and it's important to always show what kind of work you're doing and what you fixed.
    Why?
So we can understand and see it and praise you a bit for fixing it, but keeping players in the dark like that makes good for no one.
Better information on the patch notes.

    Information from Devs/Moderators.
Hands down, this is the issue most games has out there today. I take Blizzard Entertainment as a example again, they lack huge updates from developers about information sometimes, and once they share it, it is on twitter and not Battle.net (their home website) However not to be off-topic back to BDO:
I Feel that information about patches and new content arrival has been a huge miss-understanding. People asked for when content are coming and the community had as a response, "Very soon" and it came out after the maintenance, this is WRONG. People want to prepair for it, maybe someone wants a bag of chips or someone who needs to take a day off from work by talking to their boss. But none of that is possible with that kind of information given and it instead makes it a bad time for a maybe awesome patch.
Moderators, i do not want to go into a hot topic here as i won't name and shame anyone.
I have seen threads that has good information or questions in them getting closed not becuase of that, but becuase troll responses and bad discussions. However this mod locks the thread "Understandable" and tells people to keep constructive next time "fair enough" but what about this OP? (Originally Poster) He had a good question that didn't get answered by the MOD.
Me personally wishes that the MODS would answer that question in the last comment and then lock it instead of locking it right away.
I also want moderators to be more active in discussions, sharing information and talking, giving out tips, making out guides, you're a moderator for a reason, to show your experience to others and correct misstakes. You shouldn't be this bird that we bearly see, but someone we see very often and represent the game/company in a good manner.

    TL;DR
    You don't like reading?
    Well in that case:

BDO had a great gameplay impact on me.
BDO needs a great improvement on accessability (Interface/UI)
Cash Shop needs a re-work, more Cosmetic items, some convince items are ok but some should be moved into the game instead.
Support/Information needs to be improved, it's way out of hand at the moment, hire more staff members until the fire calmed down.
Thank you very much for reading my feedback thread about BDO. IF you liked it, that's cool. IF you didn't, well that's cool too.

I've been told to post this thread in this forum as well instead of the general one:

Bad communcation on updates and overall information.

  23. I've lost interest in BDO due to the inability of my characters to
share quests with friendscraft items and give them to friendshelp friends craft complicated items by doing some of the workgift friends I've introduced to the game with gear and silverOtherwise I found the game fun and worth recommending.  Should it become
possible to play cooperatively with my friends I can see myself and others
continuing to play for a lot longer.
    Thanks,
              P

PS.  People like to play the game different ways and I understand there are issues with gold farmers etc.
  24. Post on Guild War System in Suggestions

    By Volucris, posted
I love the open pvp in this game. Its very fun sometimes. Sometimes. Even when I lose, I still enjoy the fact that I could be killed anywhere if not prepared. That being said, the current Karma system for getting too low could use some adjustments in my opinion. If people want to kill you over and over again while you're trying to do a guild mission to kill x amount of mobs, they need to be penalized for it. Our guild was recently doing that very thing, with a kill x amount of mobs in Mediah. We stuck to a very far corner and when we came across other people, we simply left them alone entirely. About 30 minutes in, while in the same area we started in, we get steamrolled by a guild grinding mobs, just like us. We thought, "Ok, thats fine, if they want to be jerks and kill us over and over unprovoked they'll get the karma hit. They will pay the price the game has in place to be jerks." Around when they get negative karma, their guild of 100+ members declared war on our guild of about 30 active members, simply to avoid getting the karma loss when they continued to steamroll us. Needless to say we actually had to forfeit the mission because of that. Like I said, I love open pvp in this game. But when people exploit a mechanic like that to avoid the penalty continuously attacking people unprovoked, I get annoyed and it really kills the enjoyment of the game for me.
There are a couple ways I think would improve the pvp in the game, and punish people who want to badboy it, while still allowing them to if they please.
    Suggestion 1
Give the Guild War system a ratio of silver required to declare war. If a guild of 100 members wants to declare war on another guild of 100ish members, there should be a fee completely reasonable to pay. If a guild of 100 members wants to declare war on a guild of 50 members, the fee should be much, much higher to pay. This would still allow them to have the badboy effect, yet penalizing them for doing it.
    Suggestion 2
Guild Tier system. This is my favorite so far, and was suggested by a friend. Guilds with higher populations are categorized by tier. A guild with 15 members has a low grade of Tier C. When the guild reaches 30, that goes to Tier D, and tiers increase as guild members increase. In order to declare war on a guild, you have to be in the same guild tier as the defending guild or at least close to it. You could even use both suggestions. If the defending guild has a lower tier, then combine the two ideas and charge the attacking guild an insane fee. Guild Tier can be graded by population, amount of accumulated knowledge between members, or any other factors.

Please suggest more ideas, tweaks to the current suggestions. Just please, leave the thread to suggestions and not to rants about "pvp is broken" or "you're just a baby" or "gitgud bruh". There are plenty of other threads out there for you to post non-constructive comments in.
