  1. I think there should be a feature like the hide ui cntrl+U, except its more like blade and soul (cntrl+f) where you can quickly hide all other characters and their effects for more effective bossing. Cntrl + F  = player disabled/enabled, helps a ton the fps. This would be faster than going into the settings and remove the lag, as well as allow us to see boss mechanics a lot better.
    Thanks for reading.
  2. I love the game, in my opinion it's the best mmo out there at the moment, but one thing that really hinders the fun more often than not, is the popping issue. Everything just magically pops in, trees, nps's horses, flowers and plants (most annoying are trees, bushes and npc's), wether you have the highest settings or the lowest settings. Also it doesn't just pop in in the distance, it also changes shape, color and directions when you alre close-by, just walking around. In towns this is completely game-breaking, since everything is emty, and all over a sudden a hundred people and items just magically appear, which completely breaks the immersion. If this gets fixed, I wouldn't have anything else to complain about, so will it ever be fixed? Was there a statement to this from the devs already and are they even aware it is such a big thing for so many people?
  3. I would suggest, to make the function to disable the display of the characters of other games. This function is in some games. This is a very good help for weak computers. And essentially raises the FPS.With this function it will be easier to go through single quests. And to display those characters with whom you are in a group or guild. Thanks for the great game!
  4. Please subtract the skill effect (smoke) of the optimization mode
Because the optimization mode has no light or shadow, this makes the smoke become very noticeable, blocking the line of sight
And simplify the skills of other players(attack range) if the skills of other players are shown
Dynamic Plant,i think in the optimization mode, no one will go to see the shaking tree or grass, so can let them stand still(I think this will reduce memory usage or other)
Please take care of low-profile computer players
  5. ** UPDATED: Found way to boost performance and unlock FPS by a shocking amount in FULLSCREEN mode. Credit goes to Jackal Hawk on youtube ** Scroll to the bottom.
I have seen a few posts about this from back in January - we asked for reponses and haven't heard anything back. My guildies are talking about it, my friends are talking about it, it's affecting a large amount of the player base if not all (knowingly or not).
** if you're going to get stuck argueing about what the eye can see and not see, please feel free to not **
    My specs:
i5-6600k @ 4.5 ghz, unparked (yes you can still do it, let's just move on from this)
    GTX 970 Strix @ 1400 mhz
16 gb ram / game installed on SSD
Nvidia control panel - BDO V-Sync forced off
I'm currently running game on Medium, Nvidia control panel V-Sync forced off.
I came back to BDO a few weeks ago after a long hiatus and since as far as I can remember, my FPS has been locked to 64. Today I went to an open field to get some screen shots, cranked my settings to high end mode on high, FPS dropped as expected. After taking the screenshots, I went back to Medium settings - for some reason... my fps was uncapped, @70~90 This was the FIRST time I've ever seen my Nvidia forced V-Sync off work. I have no idea why switching it to high end on high and then back to medium unlocked my FPS. So I went back to town, FPS still unlocked, was also getting higher than my usual numbers. Then I hit Tarif, FPS still high as hell, no lock - until I talked to the skill instructor. After going through his dialogue and exiting the quest interface, my FPS was locked again. Instantly it sat at 45 in the town, and when I left town I was back to 64. In the exact same area, before I talked to the quest vendor, I was at 90. I tried to duplicate the effect, couldn't do it no matter what.
And what does all that mean?
Well you already knew the game was optimized like a potato, but why hasn't it been dealt with? Having consistent performance on BDO directly relates to your enjoyment of the game - if you've paid money, shouldn't you get the best the product can be? We need a response if this is in the works.
    So why should you care?
Well if you have a good PC, and a good GPU, you should be enjoying the game at a consistently high performance level - hell you paid a crap ton of money for that build didn't you?
If you have a low end PC, you're getting screwed because the game is extremely poorly optimized, and you're probably looking at what looks like Lineage II when you could be running it at a higher setting with the same FPS.
This game could play so much better if the performance was consistent. This is just one example of all the crazy inconsistencies I've seen in the last few weeks. GM_Huego, give us something!
TL:DR - FPS lock went away after cranking settings and turning them back down. FPS lock came back when I spoke with a quest giver. Inconsistent performance across the line - optimization of a potato. Lots of posts about this from other players - no formal response from Kakao. This affects our enjoyment of the game, please answer us.
FPS magically went to 79 after switching to high / high-end and back to medium.

*** Temporary Fix until Kakao does something ***
Things you need to do to gain the most performance:
    1) Override game graphics settings by going into Nvidia Control Panel, create a profile for BDO, force off V-sync / Tinker with Anti-Aliasing, Max Pre-Rendered Frames. You can find endless guides on this, I won't go into it.
    2) CPU Unpark - Google it, download it, run it, unpark CPU.
    3) Whenever you run BDO (the game, not the launcher), go into your Task Manager, find BDO, right click and hit show details, right click the .exe, set priority to High. You need to do this everytime, there's no way to set a launch option for it unfortunately. This has boosted my CPU usage quite a bit (good for performance).
    4) READ THIS IF YOU'VE DONE 1, 2 and 3.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLwBOCsobWo - Jackal Hawk on youtube, watch his video if you don't want to read.
Go to the youtube link either way, go into his description, download the Gaming Performance Booster. Do not try to google it and download it because you might end up downloading something that's not meant for this purpose - there's lots of timing tools out there. As always, when tinkering with CPU stuff, do it at your own risk - this is by no means a dangerous method of obtaining performance, and will work for every game, not just BDO.
After you download the gaming booster (timing tool), open it up, set timing to 0.5ms, and you're good to go.
If you've done the above, you should be getting quite a bit of boost in performance. On top of that, you will have broken through the FPS cap.
My frames went from a locked 64 max, to 100~150 depending on the area. My city performance went from 30~37 to 37~45. I now run the game on slightly high, with high textures - where as before I ran it on medium settings and medium textures. I went up in quality and in performance with this solution.
Edit: added screenshot of new performance

  6. Post on No Wars Channel in Suggestions

    By Webby, posted
I suggest a channel group that never have wars (Conquest, Node, etc) or at least have channel groups on a separate schedule. When we have wars of any type, the #1 of every channel group has the war, but all the channels go to complete crap on all sub levels. It makes the game almost unplayable at times.
BDO has a lot of positives, but one of its biggest problems is server stability and optimization. Until this gets fixed (if it ever will) please consider allowing some channels to be war free so those not participating can have a better game play experience.
  7. I recently reinstalled BDO on a laptop and cannot find the option under "Optimization Options" to enable the "screen saver" afk power save mode. I believe it was just a check box. I was wondering if this was purposefully removed or if it was just moved and I am not seeing it. Thanks.
  8. Shadows in all games are extremely taxing on the computer system. Night time in game has dramatically improved FPS due to not having any shadows to render for lack of light. Many people do not play the game or play anymore due to the requirement and lack of optimization. In addition, the amount of players that show up for some bosses have dropped in the most current and up to date computers.
Please, just add a way to remove shadows like night time does except during the day as well. Replaced with the simpler non dynamic shadows is used in several other games.
  9. Whenever a boss spawns that has a value > Red Nose (and somewhat Kutum) people absolutely swarm the area with their presence and because of that we, the players, have to load so much stuff that some of our less powerful PC's struggle when it honestly shouldn't be the case. During my personal play either alone or with my guildies I can keep my FPS above 50 with no problems outside of some heavy dust particles here and there and that's fine. Boss fights? I find it impossible to do at this point because of how much my PC struggles. What's my solution to this? Develop the simple feature of hiding other players completely (as in unload them from our RAM/hard/VRAM) so that we may play our part in slaying said bosses how it should be. In case someone decides to attack you during a boss fight for whatever reason then my suggestion for this is to make us know by flashing the PVP icon or around it (for those who have it disabled). I see no problem with this being added to the game and I'm sure that a lot of people would love to have it.
  10. Helbjorne's Game Saving Suggestion Thread (Updated 6/4)

  11. I'm uncertain if you're aware of this issue but it's quite embarrassing. Trina fort has some severe optimization issues regarding the GPU. WHether I'm using my r9 270x or my GTX 980 the gpu utilization tanks completely when I'm in Trina Fort. I'll go from stable 60 fps to 10-15 fps and the GPU utilization goes from 60-85% to just 5-10%. Gpu clocks are not being underclocked when this happens and the issue is caused only by the GPU not being utilized properly. My CPU is usually the culprit when I get lag/stutter in largely populated areas but it doensn't even hit 70% utilization in Trina Fort.
It's a pretty bad flaw which makes you look incompetent and I would advice that you do something to fix it.
All in all I enjoy the game but this kind of stuff just doesn't make it or you, the developers look good.
I randomly stumbled upon a spot in Trina Fort which fixes the issue (if you stay at this spot). Right next to a ballista as shown in the screenshots I provided below. If you however move just a couple meters away from that spot the GPU utilization tanks again. I'm 100% certain you can reproduce the issue yourselves as I know other people experience this as well.
    Edit 2:

You can actually move away from this spot without the GPU tanking again but only the area below this spot (the first image). There are possibly other spots introducing this behaviour but I'm getting bored with this now. Fix fix

I figured I'd post this in the support forums as well:

  13. Post on Check your frames in General

    By favi, posted
I found out that my hard-drive was maxed out when it shouldn't be.  This is a Windows 8.1/10 glitch.  If you are experiencing lag or performance issues when  you shouldn't then check out this guide.
Put your Hard-drive bandwidth where it should be: Black Desert!
  14. I want to preface this by saying that I'm going to be recommending you do some pretty extreme stuff. This is for the people who really want those frames, and I'm going to be asking you to do things like Overclock your GPU, go into your BIOS, install drivers. If you don't know what you're doing then don't follow the stuff later on in this post. Some stuff I post might be hearsay and will require tinkering to get working.
You might also be wondering why I need over 60FPS. Well, dear reader, I have a 144hz moniter because I'm a neet and this is where your tax-payer money goes, you filthy wagecuck. I need at least 110+ frames to get a smooth experience and I want over 144fps to reduce input lag for that dank PvP. Now, on to the show.
Despite what logic and experience might tell you, the answer to getting better performance in BDO is not, in fact, to update your drivers. In fact if you just updated you'll want to roll them back because the latest drivers cause bugs. Use 362.xx instead of 364.xx, as the 362 drivers give the best performance. Do I know why these cause an issue? No clue. How do you get these drivers? Try to google it.
    Clean your PC you slob.
Temperature is an issue that directly effects your performance. If things heat up too much, it can cause your GPU to throttle. Look up a guide online on how to clean your PC, and how to clean your GPU. You shouldn't be hitting anything like 80c. I don't even hit that when overclocking. Seriously, clean your GPU. It can get dust in its fans.
    Overclock with your ----- out.
Grab MSI afterburner. We're going to overclock, bbcakes famalam desu ne. Now. I have to warn you that THIS STUFF CAN RUIN YOUR GPU, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
I'm not going to teach anyone how to overclock. Instead I'm going to leave guides on how to do it. You'll get quite a few extra frames out of this. If you do it right, nothing bad will happen. Probably.
    Random tweaks.
First off, I want you to go to your Nvidia control panel. Go over to Adjust Desktop Size and Position. Change it to No Scaling on Display/GPU. I believe Display gives less input lag. Then go to manage 3D settings. Make sure power management is set to maximum power.
Then go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options, and set it to High Performance.

Last but not least, go to control panel when you have BDO running and set the priority to High.
    http://www.tweaktown.com/guides/411/system_optimization_guide_for_gamers/index.html <--A worthwhile read.
I know some of this stuff is obvious information or maybe not useful, but I like to think that this guide was useful to at least somebody. If you have any kind of tricks to get your FPS higher, please post it below so we can try it out. Thank you for reading and hopefully if you are having problems running the game, this helped you out somehow.
  15. Ohhh from where to start..... Game is amazing! Totally worth every penny. I am playing MMO's RPG's from 10 years. From Silkroad, Linage 2, WoW, (here are at least another 10 mmos) to my last one ArcheAge. I thought AA is deep game but Black desert is kind of 5xdeeper or 10x. I am not that type of rush for levels. I want to take every experience from all aspects. I like PVP, PVE , everything. Visuals are beautiful, skills are great, there are many jobs and another 1000 good things. I like the knowledge system. Side quests are really damn useful because giving me more inventory space and other useful things. My english is not 10/10 so i will not write deeper information about the game.
About OPTIMIZATION:100% good optimization. Never seen MMO to run so smooth from 5 years even when graphics settings are maxed out 60fps. I had some problems from start like many others with FPS because on fullscreen game is locking your frame rate to your monitor's lowest Hertz (for me was locked on 50fps but i found solution fast on forums that if you made the game to run  FullWindowed mode there isn't lock and that fixed it for me and every other person.
There are many other things i can say about the game but i want to play now so have a nice day.
  16. So I have had the pleasure of being able to play Black Desert Online during Beta and have enjoyed it for the most part. There are some things though that are 100% infuriating though that I feel need to be addressed with players running 4K monitors (3820 and above). Here are my suggestions to help players not be insanely infuriated or even believe their graphics card is dying! (trust me I was freaking out last night as I have a $700+ graphics card that was just as effective as intel graphics at times lol).
Resolution settingsFrequency SettingsAddition of frequencies ranging 24Hz to 600Hz (plasma TV)Optimization SettingsFrame Rate capsAddition of frame rate caps of 24, 30, 55, 60, 100, 144, and unlimited.V SyncAddition of setting to turn off and on with graphics card hardware.Reset graphicsWhen using a 4k monitor and attempting to downscale the game's textures are seriously compromised. I was attempting to use 1080p on my 4k monitor and I could do so in fullscreen window, but it made the game extremely small on my screen. There needs to be a way to have the game in 1080p and reset the textures. These few changes will drastically help with the performance on the game with, not only 4k monitor setups, but more "traditional" HD setups.
  17. Ok first of this is a forward from the Germany forum board.
A user there mentioned a small thing witch I actually strongly agree upon.
Thanks for reading the following I hope my English is at least a bit understanding. .)
The world as it is is like an empty cave, beautiful too look at but kind of dead.
The life essence of everything beautiful and colorful is simply missing.
Here are some example I would love too see in the future:
-More birds above a city maybe a couple more seagulls that try to hunt fish or fight over leftover food
-A better sound integration with the overall world (Snapping wood inside a forest or rushling leafs)
-Make snow more like snow (I would love to make a snow angel or to throw a snowball, seeing everything covered in snow and not just a bit shaded white)
these are just a couple of examples of course there is more.
Keep in mind that I like the game as it is. This is merly a suggestion not a I want it I demand it. I am not that kind of guy.
This is just what I am supposed too do. Saying what I would love too see. What I think makes the Game better.
Soo do you agree or do you not agree?
  18. Flawless really.
    Had no stutters.
And I'm only on an i5 4690k and gtx strix 960.
So if I'm running max on just that minus stupid depth of field and motion blur (worthless settings btw) then this games gotta be really well optimized.
Pretty sure this is cry engine with heavy modification or..? i don't remember actually.
    Either way it runs fantastic.
  19. Hello guys! I'm a new member here and I just wanted to know what your experience in alpha (KR server is welcome as well) was like in Black Desert Online with some of your current specs. Id also like to ask if the game is well optimized and what I should expect to have to run the game well. I am just looking to run the game at a solid 1080p 60-fps with relatively high settings. Currently building a new PC for the game but I have not had the opportunity to get any of the game's keys as of yet.
I'll also post my set up here as well for opinions.
