  2. Why are people saying its P2W. P2W means buying an item that increases your stats or buying something that helps increase ure stats something that if u dont use real $ you don't have access too. The only slightly p2w there is is that you make silver in game from seeling shop stuff and with that you can maybe upgrade ure gear faster. However that is not p22. Any normal player can reach the same stats as the one hoarding silver in his pockets. So enough with the stupid QQ.
  3. If you don't want to lose half your player base with these new "cash shop accessibility" changes, please give us option subscribe for 15€ a month and make everything in Cash Shop Loyalty only.

  4. 64 guilds if I counted right. That has to be breaking a record.
  5. As you might have already realized, Daum / Kakao / Pearl Abyss or whoever is currently following a free to play model with the addition of a hefty initial purchase cost. In case some of you did not realize it previously, let me clarify that this is not a buy to play business model.
This video from extra credits does a fantastic job to explain the issues regarding this badly planned model and although some parts are not relevant to us, I thought it could be an interesting watch. Enjoy

  7. Put your screenshots of protests held to show Pearl Abyss and Kakao games (Daum) the communities reaction to this -> http://forum.blackdesertonline.com/index.php?/topic/106513-in-game-accessibility-to-pearl-shop-items/ <

  8. if you really wanted to make non-paying people enjoy cash-shop goodies, you could just have made pearls boxes buyable through loyalties. Considering a costume (2700 pearls) for three months of playtime, that leads to roughly 30 pearls a day.
that would fulfill your desire and keep your word.. Isn't it the perfect solution?
    no need to thank me.
  9. It appears my post was removed from reddit by the moderators, they are trying to keep us from organizing.
Step 1: Get your icon and update it on the forums. http://forum.blackdesertonline.com/index.php?/topic/106659-the-no-p2w-market/
Step 2: Vote on the forums for NO to P2W in this forum.http://forum.blackdesertonline.com/index.php?/topic/106524-should-bdo-cash-shop-items-be-available-for-purchase-with-in-game-silver/
Step 3: Vote on change.org petition to cement your thoughts permanently to Kakao/PA.http://forum.blackdesertonline.com/index.php?/topic/106678-open-letter-to-daum-games-pearl-abyss-plus-petition/
Step 4: Upvote this post so that everyone else sees this.
edit: Great post by nightbloom that I think is pertinent to reference here.
Twitter: If you have it, tag posts with #P2WBDO or something like that and complain, publicly and loudly.
Facebook: Tag Black Desert Online and complain, a lot.
YouTube: If you have that talent, create videos and make sure you tag that game so that people will find them when they search for videos about Black Desert.
Email Pearl Abyss: contact@PearlAbyss.com and let them know how you feel. There is a lot of difficulty in digging up contacts for this game so if you have more, post them.
Write reviews: I have a review account with MMORPG.com and I will be writing a review right away. It often takes some time for this to be reviewed and published, so get on this. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Video_game_review_websites If writing isnt your skill, comment on articles about Black Desert on these sites.
Reddit: There are a lot of subreddits for gaming. /r/Gaming etc. Go write stuff about this development and why it is bad.
Change your guild tag to the image from Jordine (those guys are my heroes)http://origin.webcdn.theblackdesertonline.net/forum/service_live/monthly_08_2016/p2w.png.0c08924480311fa0457c11c4b4314721.png.38321368042d6027360328804c045da5.png https://www.change.org/p/daum-games-stop-daum-games-from-changing-blackdesertonline-to-pay-to-win-model-with-cash-shop-items-being-listed-on-the-market
Complain, a lot. Make your voice heard in every single way you can think of.
  10. As a combatant of p2w in BDO, which had been promised never to happen by Daum (Kakao now), I finally came up with a nice solution, which should be in favor of all types of players.
1.) If this whole change is a matter of money for Kakao, then I would be quite fine with the change to a monthly pay-to-play model of the game, to bypass the p2w direction.
Requirements: - Monthly convenience bonuses for the people who preordered and bought the buy-to-play game (could also include merv's palette and others).
                              - The annulment of the recent idea of making the cash shop p2w.
2.) If it's not a matter of money then Kakao could easily add some npcs to the world which sell the items from cash shop. With this system everyone could get their desired items for ig money, which also was a main point of Kakao. To make sure Kakao won't loose every rl money purchase of their items, these npc shop items would have weakened effects of course.
Requirements: - Ig npc vendors for costumes and outfits: Clothes bought ig have their additional effects (like bonus combat exp) disabled.
                              - Ig npc vendors for pets: Those pets can't be bred to achieve higher tiers.
                              - Ig npc vendors for value packs: Weakened effects for the conveniences the value pack gives + availability of value pack from loyality shop with a better price-performance ratio.
What do you think of these solutions? Any thoughts or adaptations? Discuss!
  11. This is what I said about the new update for the Cash Shop and further down explains my thoughts as a community how we can improve the game and not by saying "p2w" all the time like how a pokemon speaks or Hodor.
With this change to were real money items can be sold on the market for silver should not be implemented because there is no work in-game to get silver then. If you have a job with extra money, spend a ton of cash shop items then sell it on the market. You just gained a shit ton of silver without playing the game basically. Keep how the cash shop how it is. Traveler package is just a mix of shit already on the cash shop in one bundle. I don't see this as pay to win since it is not giving you silver right off the bat. Now all items can if you sell them off the market. Tera did this and if you are going to keep this new system just do not have it were people can trade silver for items outside of market place. There will probably duplication of those items, trolling other players out of their money, and many more issues. After looking back at Tera with the similar system, it was alright but keep restriction to it or it will be a broken mechanic and the game would truly be pay to win.
Please have major limits on it or if it fails just remove it because it is just fine without that.
People just assume it is pay to win when they here real money and items in the same sentence but give no reason for it. For the community, if you think it is a pay to win mechanic, explain thoroughly on why it is pay to win so the company can take that into consideration. People complain how it is pay to win and what we got is this system where the cash shop items can be on the market for in game silver. This was the ones who cried p2w and this system adds where the cash shop items can be bought with in-game silver so not everyone has to use real money to buy a costume...
Seriously, again community explain on the reasoning if it is pay to win and solution to it. Subscriptions will not change anything but have us pay more. Paying for the game itself then a sub on top does not bring more players but make players turn away from it however the ones who dedicated their life to it will stay, just like wow. Even WoW has real money cash shop and has an item that boosts players to max level. I am just saying that the iconic mmo everyone knows, you will need to buy a copy of it with subscription plus there again real money cash shop with legitimate p2w items like i said about the max level boost.
Explain your reasoning on why you think it is bad, good, p2w, etc, and explain how they it can be better. No one is doing this so they are trying to get a gist of what people are saying and again they came up with this mechanic so everyone can have cash shop items through in-game currency. They are listening to us but we are giving shitty responses were they have to interpenetrate what we are complaining about and guess how to fix it.
As a community lets give ideas for improvement by not saying "it is p2w" and hope for the best, that won't fix anything.
  12. With the announcement in mind, I wonder how drastic the game will change in the next two months.
I know the economy will be catastrophic for awhile, since everyone and their mom with a wallet will be able to buy those rare ogre rings (instead of a small few)
But I'm thinking long term. I assume they are ramping up the F2P announcement which would offset the people who quit the game in disgust and most guilds will go through some serious reconstruction. New guilds will come out of the smoke with some gear and a new will to be on top. Node wars will be way more unbalanced now.
Grind spots will be more contested because of
    1.Influx of f2p players
2.You can now buy value packs with ingame money
    3. More GvG for grind spots for players that can't afford to P2W
Thoughts? I'm just spitballing here, curious to see how things will play out.
  13. Masterful release schedule on PA's part to maximize revenue capture. Kudos to their market segmentation and release plan. Make no mistake, they are doing the right thing financially for their company.
Promise of no P2W really endeared the game to a hopeful west audienceThey gradually introduced minimal P2W items. At each step people who could no longer stomach it quit, yet many remained and spent more money. Now they're going full P2W - many more will quit but the remaining few will pay even more money. Many of the remaining people will get disillusioned when they burn through the 350mil they paid for in achieving a TET witch's earring and end up with nothingThey will finally settle on a smaller, massive p2w whale community that sustains the gameAgain, PA is doing the logical thing. Even without P2W, this game (like all games) would eventually die off, having made much less money in the process.
    Well played, PA.
  14. As much as I'd like to write an essay on the subject; I'll keep it simple:
Other player's wealth, gear or overall progression doesnt affect MY personal progression in any way.
What little money I make is precious because I earned it.
Seeing the progress bar fill with every quest I do and title I get is satisfying regardless of whatever other players are doing.
Getting a bigger energy pool and doing dailies to get the new 450 contribution softcap reflects my personal work and effort, whether or not someone has reached the cap or not.
Leveling the first line of Lifeskills to Artisian was a feat and getting them to Master will be even more so, even if I never reach top 5 in leaderboards.
I dont know if you've identified the theme I'm going for with my above statements.
You cannot buy skill, you cannot buy a Guru lifeskill level, you cannot buy a empire of artisian workers, 400 Contribution points or a +5 Lifeskill Armor, etc, etc, all of that you have to work for, EARN, you CANNOT BUY SELF ACOMPLISHMENT, while someone buys a TRI Ogre ring without batting an eye, I'm ecstatic and losing my shit when my TRI Bares Necklace succedes, not cause it's the best but because I made it myself, you cannot buy the feeling of personal achievement, of working for what you have, cause the second you use RL cash to "facilitate" your transition through progression, you deprive yourself of any sense of personal gratiification, it's just whatever. . . empty. . . hollow, if anything, you should feel sorry for those kind of people.
It took me 2 months to get my +4 cooking cloth, I had to craft hundreds of clothes, get hundreds of failstacks, get more and more CP so I could min max my production, I learned alot and the long path that I had to travel was worth it, could I have done it better? Yes. Could have spent less money if I knew what I knew at the end of my travesti? Yes.  But I dont care, cause I worked for it, I was patient and earned my +4 cloth and the feeling when my screen flashed and my enhancing succeded will never compare to someone pressing "enter" and buying a +4 cloth, so I shouldnt care that they can do so, and I really dont.
My point is. . . play the game for YOU; I dont see why other player's progression should trump whatever it is you have acomplished on a personal level, I dont see how people throw away all the hours, effort and work they've put into the game just because some random guy will be rich, please think about it. IT DOES SUCK dont get me wrong, but at the end of the day and for the sake of BDO and your enjoyment of it, you shouldnt care.
I dont care, am I the only one?
EDIT: DISCLAIMER: If you play this game for the lone purpose of PvP then I understand why you care since your gameplay will be seriously and broadly diminished, please understand that even tho I dont condone this new P2W shift to the game, I'm only trying to make the best out of an utterly horrible situation.
  15. This decision is bad for us, but not for the reasons most people think.
Pay to win doesnt mean I buy something that you cant have, it means I can buy an advantage that you can't get unless you buy too.  This new development from Daum is pay to win because to gives a fast track option to finish the game.  Here is why.  Right now it takes a relatively short time to soft cap your char.  The real grind is getting items and that grind is far longer than leveling.  You used to be bottlenecked by availability.  You could have all the silver in the world but the best gear needed to created.  You had to wait for someone to plus it up with luck and failstacks or the bosses needed to be killed for that gear to drop.  The night vendor changed that.  On Orwen, one guild hoarded all the Liverto and Kzarka weapons they could and it affected the server, we noticed because when one group has something that strong and the rest of us do not, it makes a difference.
Here is why this latest development is real pay to win. Current scenario.  Buy game, level up to 58.  Farm your gear and save your silver and over a month, maybe three your prayers to RNGesus will be answered and you have a decent char with decent gear.  This doesnt always work out, many people blow up their items and cry.  Getting here is tough and only the best survive.  But here is the new scenario.  You could start the game tomorrow, not even bother to level yet, just get to 11.  Now throw money at the game and buy char slots and sell cash shop items to get a large hoard of silver and energy alts.   Use those energy alts to spam Night Vendor.  Get all the best gear.  RNGesus doesnt need to be your savior, you now have Lootsifer on your side.  Your attempts to plus your gear arent going well, you throw more money at the game, night vendor gives you lots of stuff you don't need that you can also sell for more silver.  In the space of a few days, you have a full set of tri boss gear thanks to your unlimited funds and the in game Lootsifer high priest Night Vendor.  Level up and pwn the noobs who aren't throwing money at the game.
A new class of player and a new meta will be born.  You don't have boss gear?  Well, there is a large group of people, so large that if you arent in this club, you are going to die to them.  How do you catch up?  You either buy like they did or be their -----.  There wont be any in between.  New players will find out that the only way to catch up wont be the vagaries of luck or perseverance, it will be pure cash.
This is a toxic environment that none of us want to be a part of.  We need to do our part to keep this from happening.  Here is how.
Twitter:  If you have it, tag posts with #P2WBDO or something like that and complain, publicly and loudly.Facebook:  Tag Black Desert Online and complain, a lot.YouTube:  If you have that talent, create videos and make sure you tag that game so that people will find them when they search for videos about Black Desert.Email Pear Abyss:  contact@PearlAbyss.com  and let them know how you feel.  There is a lot of difficulty in digging up contacts for this game so if you have more, post them.Write reviews:  I have a review account with MMORPG.com and I will be writing a review right away.  It often takes some time for this to be reviewed and published, so get on this. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Video_game_review_websites  If writing isnt your skill, comment on articles about Black Desert on these sites.Reddit:  There are a lot of subreddits for gaming.  /r/Gaming etc.  Go write stuff about this development and why it is bad.Change your guild tag to the image from Jordine (those guys are my heroes) http://origin.webcdn.theblackdesertonline.net/forum/service_live/monthly_08_2016/p2w.png.0c08924480311fa0457c11c4b4314721.png.38321368042d6027360328804c045da5.pngComplain, a lot.  Make your voice heard in every single way you can think of.The more we complain and make a public outcry, the less likely this is to happen.  I love this game and I enjoy playing.  I dont want it killed.  All you forum warriors, turn your skills to this, dont quit until the fight is lost.

  16. Way to ruin a game! good job!
BDO would have been better than Archeage, but instead its just as P2W as Archeage
Everyone will leave BDO just like everyone left Archeage
  17. We aren't likely to prevent the sale of cash shop items in the marketplace.
The only reason this makes the game P2W is because PvP is SO heavily influenced by gear rather than skill.
Force them to make SKILL-based PvP.
    Eliminate P2W.
  18. As an older Gamer who has played everything from Paid to Private servers, I see change all the time, I see free to cash shop, or donation shops on free private servers.
Things cost money, on a daily basis we all experience it, from that morning coffee to lunch. We buy gas for our cars, which was built in a factory and sold by a sales man.
The game was paid for and yes they made some nice coin, but that 1x payment will not last forever. I paid my rent 4 days ago and have to pay it again in 27 days. Life cost money.
The game is hosted and designed by people, people who get paid to work there, in a building where they pay rent, as well travel fees to usa from overseas.
Since joining I have heard so many rants of things for change or change without asking.
I also see 1000's of -10 posts ranting they paid 100 1000 or more into the game who cares, I paid to win i have 3 t3 pets. and costumes, shit changes people.
Many new accounts who say 100 Days wasted I quit blah blah blah, ok?
you are not the only person online more will come.
People will scream, and rage, tell me my head is in my ass or carebears or freepers or pvpers who cares.
we all know we will go home after work or school grumble and find a way to make this work in our favor and how to move on.
I love the game and well will continue.
If you leave, sad as it was alot of work you entered. I hope you find a game as cool as this one.
well be well and remember to breathe life is too short to rage that much.
if this message makes any sense ok if not well  I don't care.

  19. I just wanted to swing my giant two handed sword on my warrior around.
But the game never even made it that far.
It's been a fun 5 months.  See you guys in whatever the next hyped up MMO is.
  20. I would like to express my absolute disappointment in the recent decision to change a buy to play model into a full paytowin one.  I have been an active member of the BDO community since its release in NA/EU and played KR for a long time before that.  I am active every day in a popular streamers channel twitch.tv/avuris answering questions, helping new players and trying to build a community.  I have always tried to defend and reason some of the recent decisions made on the part of the publisher and Pearl Abyss including the value pack and selling of dyes.

I however cannot support in any this decision to allow the purchase of money in game via real life money.  I have spent well over $1000 dollars in support of the game, because I was informed repeatedly by Daum/Kakoa that the reason we have a buy to play model with cosmetic/convenience available in the pearl shop was so we did not have any pay to win be in the game.  We have all been lied to and essentially scammed by this publisher who in one message has tarnished their reputation beyond repair just like Trion did with Archeage.

I am a member of one of the top guild on UNO and every single member has already begun the quitting process every person I have talked to is also doing the same.  These players are all very dedicated and love the game and most have spent more money to support the game than I have.  I feel changing the decision may be too little too late but if this does go through there will not be enough population to fill a single server and we definitely need fast responses from the community managers on this topic.  Staying quiet and seeing how this plays out will not work this time.
  21. I don't know about you guys and your servers and your guilds, but the consensus of me and mine is that if the game goes p2w, we find a new game.
So after all the rage of war, all the salt and sweat. After all the 24hr grinds, all the failed enhances, all the money farmed. All the god damn people I got to know all the hours chilling with the community all the times good and bad. Thrown down the drain in one fell swoop by Kaokao.
I can only hope this shit doesn't go through, but if it does I want you all to know that this was a neat experience and I'm glad all you mafks were along for the ride. (yeah even you, you little shit)
  22. So daum how long until we can expect Valk's cry and other similar items to be added to the cash shop?
    @CM_Aethon @CM_Praballo @CM_Tytyes @PM_Jouska
  23. So this is a pretty far fetched suggestion, and I'm sure I will get a lot of hate and probably holes shot in it, but lets get started.
Why doesn't Black Desert introduce cash shop free servers, as an alternative to those with the cash shop, like the current ones. Players who wish to fight on a level playing field with everybody may play on these servers, following suit to the original non-P2W statement that was mentioned. I'm relatively new to the game, so I don't know the full story and I'm sure that I'm missing some of the facts, however I started playing this game with an open mind and I'm going to continue that way until I see that without putting money into this game I truly can't sustain myself as a player without getting destroyed by those who do pay their way to the top.
The NA/EU regions already include 3 main tier 1 servers (T1, as I will refer to them) and a number of tier 2 servers (T2, which I think is 10?). As far as I can tell, nothing passes between each of the T1 servers, however within those T1 servers, they have a number of T2 servers where all character information is shared. The introduction of a 4th T1 server with a similar number of T2 servers could be introduced free of the cash shop, and yes, I mean all of the cash shop. Within this server, any and all cosmetic cash shop items would still be obtainable by alternative methods, for example dyes could be created at a dye workshop, costumes such as the Canape set, Venecil set and all the others would be obtainable through workshops also. Allowing players to maintain their distinguished look and style that they are used to. These items would be available on the marketplace as the new patch suggests.
Some people may be concerned about their existing characters, play time and hours that they have poured into the game, and to that I saw... tough luck. I couldn't really come up with a solution to this problem without completely ruining what this additional server hopes to achieve, so I left this as it is. This new cash shop free server would require you to start fresh. This sets a level playing field for all players, regardless of their monetary income or will to spend on the game, sure those who literally sit playing the game all day every day would have an advantage. But hey, you guys with school or work have an advantage over them in the real world, so leave them be while they sit at home and dry up their will to play the game rather quickly. Although starting the gamer over again may be troublesome and frustrating, I personally see this as better than creating a potential loophole for people to buy a ton of cash shop items before the server would be added, not that we get much notice anyway, right?
The idea has some drawbacks, but could provide a middle-ground for both what they want as a business, and what players want from the game. Players with money can fight over whoever can input the most money in the game before going bankrupt, and other players who chose to not invest money into the game, can fight the real game. I haven't done all that much research so I honestly wouldn't be able to tell if people would still play on the cash shop servers, so I've added a poll to find out.
    Cheers for reading, happy grinding!
  24. It has begun, we bought a product that had no P2W and now they go 180 and make it P2W.
vote now let yoru voices be heard
  25. Copy pasta from the announcement topic

    I see one logical step.
Create 2 new servers and remove the current 3 servers.
One server will have the pearl items in-game future and the other one won't.
Give the current players the option to choose what server they will want to move to.

We will get rid of the so called 'server merge' problem we have had for a while now and at the same time we won't have to forcefully accept having to play this game in a pay to win environment only.
