  1. Post on Rewatch cutscenes? in PVE

    By Rok, posted
Is there a way to watch the story cutscenes again with other characters doing the same quests?

  3. So I'm looking for a RP partner, male or female, don't mind at all, it could be for a bit of in-game RP or in the forum i dont mind really. Idealy 18+ in case things get a bit steamy, but i don't have much restriction!! <3

There is a massive amount of lore within these pages that we have yet to see in-game, including a ton of lore pertaining to Kamasylvia (the last button) that we can't find in any other source.  I understand that BDO NA/EU has recently gotten its own translation team, and this has been something major missing from the beginning.  I had asked for this prior, but it was much earlier on and was likely passed over due to other urgent matters and suggestions.
@CM_Aethon I'm not sure if you could pass this along in any way or not.  But now that BDO NA/EU seems to be focusing more on translation accuracy as well as proper storytelling—I think this is potentially very integral and perhaps something lost along the way.  I don't know who else to contact about this, so you were the natural ping!

  6. Hey folks,

Let's get right to it! BDO has lot's of content... Hiding somewhere behind lot's and lot's of boring NPC talk.  And everybody knows there is lore and story behind the setting of BDO but it just doesn't show, you have to actively search for it.
And as most of us will agree upon, long searching for the lore and story in an MMORPG-sandbox doesn't actually help players to bond with the world.  The motto of "The New World" is quiet cynical: "A world every player can call it's home" but what does that "home" mean, when you don't have a clue on what's going on in the world?  I value the efforts of the devs for updating this game in an insane fast way, I do, but they should focus on more than just new area's and awakenings...
The feeling I have amongst many other players is that you can do like a lot of things in BDO but there is no point in doing them unless you want to be the best crafter, do endless pvp, grinding mobs, have the best gear, reach way beyond your awakening.... A lot of those listed things you can do in other games, games that are too superficial.
I have some ideas/concepts that might make players bond more with the BDO world:
A lot of NPC's are too stationairy is one of the first problems I want to tackle. I know it is quiet demanding of pc's but please make NPC's do more than just wave or some emote, let them walk around, carry out their jobs, "talk to other NPC's. I know there are NPC's who already travel and do other "tasks" but not quiet enough. Look at skyrim, for example that maid at the forge, in the noon she was forgeing weapons, at another point in the day she was in her shop, at night in her bed,.... Or the witcher for example, with it's breathing world, NPC's do stuff, they have emotions  and interesting conversations with other NPC's,...A second improvement would be more and better cut-scenes, even for side quests. In the beginning of the game there should be more explanation about the black desert (I didn't know why this game was called black desert until the valencia update came out... And still it's a weird name but that's off topic). Cut-scenes help the players to understand why they must do there quests, what's going on in the world, what bad guys there are or wich wars there are spreading across the land. In side-quests it would be nice since some NPC's their stories will capture you and you know why you do that stuff, instead of reading every (boring) dialogue or book to get a grasp of what's going on. Cut-scenes would clarify why goblins are at a certain location and attacking those villages and cities, why you have a blackspirit folowing you what it's purpose is and if has a secret agenda or not, is that spirit evil or good for you who knows.... And yes there are people who will know the explanation for these questions, but frankly, as a player you shouldn't have to search for everything you want to know aka knowledge system...More and better dynamic events, look at Guild Wars 2 (and for some aspects to WoW and Diablo III) not the greatest game(s) in my opinion but what I did like about the game(s) is the fact that there were dynamic events on a massive scale. Not just some world bosses spawning twice a day or some whale ready to be hunted. But actually mobs attacking  villages, dosens of raids through high level area's, mob elite hunting parties on the road that "terrorize" the lands and you had to kill them to "free" the NPC's of the danger.MOST IMPORTANT: Tell a better story and make it more visible/highligted. Entice players in the BDO world to become the hero or villain what they want to be, help them to create their own story with unique expierences but try to maintain a red line in the story. The story should tell what the "black" desert is, the danger of the black spirits, where your class comes from, why your soul is linked with a black spirit, what goals you should try to achieve  (like killing a bad guys, evil mobs,...). The BDO devs will bring the players new domains/realms/area's but what is going on there, what is the story behind those new landmasse's, are there new bad guys (like sorcerers, necromancers, dragons) players need to kill to "complete" the story of those new area's? That being said, I hope the devs will notice this post and take their time to think about what's being said here. If they do, and they implement it in the game in a right way => then I am certain that players will bond more with the world; there will come a massive amount of new players to BDO because then there is finnaly an MMO who really differentiates itself from others by creating a gameworld where players can dive into and lose themselves, following a good story line instead of what other MMO's do ( => killing mobs = the entire game).

  8. Post on Not getting a new quest in PVE

    By Al_Massacre, posted
So I hit lvl 53 a couple of days ago, and I just finished up all of the main Mediah quests and now I don't have a new quest. What should I be doing now? One of my friends I play with has been seeing quests from npcs that I don't. Did I miss something? If so how can I fix it?
  9. So i completed the http://bddatabase.net/us/quest/3003/15/ Combined the document, went to the origin of clear water, and talked to it, but i didnt get any quests for the next part... And I'm currently stuck. Appreciate all help
  10. I'll start first....

    Once
  11. Hey there forums. So, I started played the game a couple days ago and have slowly made my way to level 33. I decided to stop leveling for a moment to get my bearings on the goings-on of BDO, and I realized it: I have absolutely no idea what the hell is going on around my character and what role I have in any of it. I pose these questions to anyone who might be kind enough to answer them:
(Oh, I included a poll, cus why not?)
    _______________________________________________________________________________________________________
    1) What is happening in the game in terms of story? Below is what I think is going on, but there are a lot of holes that have me confused.
    > You start in Olvia and overhear some excavators talking with the town mayor of sorts. This is Edan and his crew; they're going to investigate some ruins << Why? >> for some annoying princess << Right? >>.
    > You follow them down to the ruins at the behest of your spirit bro, and he gets an upgrade. Edan notices that you're tainted by some evil-as-hell energy, but doesn't seem to care. They leave to... somewhere? << I lost track of Edan and the overall story here for a while. It picks back up in... >>
    > At Alejandro Farm, you find Edan's elf chick and the alchemist from Velia. They're here investigating some dark energy stuff << Did they forget that I'm a thing? >> and pumpkins when a kid << Who is this? They seemed to know her, and she seems to recur in the story from this point on >> who goes freaky on yo butt and foretells the coming of Satan. They leave, I guess?
    > Next, I saw Elf chick, a creepy hooded man and that demon kid hanging around at the Valley Inn in Heidel. I don't recall what they were doing and/or why.
    > Lastly, I see the Velia alchemist talking to the Glish alchemist in, well, Glish. Lil kid is here again, but no one cares about her. The Glish alchemist suggests that Jordine might end up becoming Satan because he hate stuff a lot.
    2) What's going on my muh character? I get that I've been infected by some kinda spirit and that he's gobbled up my memories or something, but how do I fit into the story?
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ So, if any of you would kindly fill in the holes on question #1, that'd be great. If not, thanks for reading my wall of text anyways! Hope someone got enjoyment out of it, even if they don't intend to help a bro out.
  12. On BDO KR's website, there are lore articles around that describe the world of BDO's major countries and goings-on.  I'm speaking of the ones here.  These are articles describing the history of Calpheon, Mediah, Valencia, Serendia.  We also see lore articles on the Awakenings which reveal a great deal more than just the Awakening's histories such as this.
Though many people have done their best to translate these, it would be best (in my own opinion) if we get these articles translated for our version of the game so that we can get the information directly from the source.  There are a lot of names listed, for instance, that we can't transliterate because of the usage of Korean characters and the difference in sounds from Korean to English.  Obviously, these could (and should!) get translated to German and French as well.  They are a wonderful lore source that tell a coherent story and reveal a lot that we may not already know.  I think the game would directly benefit from having them readily available in BDO NA/EU's supported languages.

  13. So i was minding my own business trading some stuff between Tarif and Olvia.

Yes, Bladers and Plums coming to save us!

  14. I seem to be stuck and not sure what to do. I've done the stuff that takes me to & through Altinova with the Prince and Neruda Shen as well as well as some of the Shen merchant info quests but they all just stopped after I got the big 300 cp reward from the prince. It doesn't give me anything to do next/ Anyone know whats going on? With that? The only thing I have left is the girl beside Neruda but she won't talk to me as she's somehow locked behind him even though I have his knowledge? if anyone can help or has a guide, I'd like to see the story at least once before the alt grind sets in.

(The actual breadcrumb for Altinova didn't show from BS until I hit 51, is there something similar at 52 maybe?)

Inspired by all the angel/god/goddess pictures being posted, I was taking screenshots to share in one of the threads. Well, I got kind of carried away and was having too much fun so I decided to just make a small, silly story with my screenshots instead. I hope you enjoy.

"Oh, hello. I didn't see you there. I just woke up and feel kinda weird."

"Wait a minute! Something is wrong. What the heck am I wearing???!!! Holy crap, are these wings?!!!!"

"Seriously, what's going on? Am I an Angel? I don't know if Im cut out to be an angel."

"Then again, this outfit rocks! It makes my butt look great and my legs look great. And these shoes are soooo cute!"

"This just might work! Yeah...I just might love being an angel!"

"Ok, so I'm really an Angel. The Angel Kenzley. Well it is very nice to meet you!"

  16. Hello everyone,
I'm currently on my 2nd character and I suddenly realize at lvl 34 that it has been a while since I've got a cinematic.

Story tab in the quest log is empty. Is there a way to find which quest I skipped or do I have to go to every town and check every npc to find out ?

I think it can create a nice dynamic for roleplaying in-game.
Please post your story and the following information so that I know who I can hook up with in-game ^-^:
    Character name: Meij
    Family name: Nobels
    Server: Croxus
    Class: Sorcerer

  20. So I just beat Jordine/Belmorn @ level 43 and went to the Trina Beacon Mounds to get a cutscene where Belmorn got sucked into the necklace. Is this the end of main quest storyline or is there more story after this?
    Thanks.
  21. Hey there i noticed that the Elonian priest Leona
is handing out quests but when i wanted to accept them i found out they were all empty bars with no information about the
quest and not even a name of the quest even though there are some story mission in there could you guys check this out???

  22. I'm loving the game so please take this criticism as an objective one. The narrative in this game is garbage. It's not just that the story is kinda generic. It's the presentation of it. The dialog is pretty terrible and the awful voice acting doesn't really help. The cutscenes are really awkward as well. I can't help but wonder, is it really this bad or is some of it the result of translation issues: “Do I look tired? You are correct. I am tired.” Who the hell talks like that? No human being I know.
At any rate, not that I have my hopes up about this, I'd like to see the narrative improved and not just the [likely] translation issues or voice acting (which I am very forgiving about in general). I'd like a much more engaging story.
  23. Let me just preface this by saying, I'll be the first to admit "I make no claims of being the best/most educated person in the room"... also, I have been blown away with the content and combat system in BDO (The fact that it's, what almost two years old. and in my opinion leaps and bounds ahead of it's competition, is impressive)
With that said, even I'm *Shaking my Head, Face Palming* through my gameplay at how nonsensical and poorly written the story/dialogue, tool-tips, and pretty much most of the written word is in BDO. Since I don't speak Korean, and haven't played the "Original" version of the game I have no idea if it's just because the writing was/is bad, or if all the blame lies with the translation, But wow is it bad.

I can understand that companies want to get their products out so they can start recouping their investments and turning a profit. I mean that's the point Duh <.< (Of course this seems less likely to me within the context of BDO as the cause of bad writing/translation, since it's just one of a few localizations. and by now I would have thought they recouped their investment ages ago. and now it's almost all profit... well not counting server upkeep/maintenance and any of the team they keep on to continue developing new content, and of course the people they hire for localization... which is kind of self defeating my point... but w/e you know what I mean... Right? lol)
on another note, even the voice-over for conversations is atrocious... setting aside any opinions about the "Quality" of the voice actors "Acting Ability" they can't be responsible for the script they are given and told to read/act-out aloud. I mean going up to an NPC in game and initiating a conversation and then having a voiced line of diagonal playing that doesn't match what the written dialogue options are is so jarring/confusing. I mean it might/could be cool in a different game setting (like if you were trying to portray an NPC who was concerned about audio surveillance so they are giving you "flash cards" of the conversation while spouting off nonsensical verbal "Fluff") but in this context it's just bad.
So, let's wrap this up, I don't need to ramble on any more then I already have about this...

What the heck! who is responsible for sighing off on the final product? You really dropped the ball on this one...

Thanks for the read   I hope your enjoying the game, I am.

  25. Hello, I have a huge problem and I need community help to solve it.
    Im currently:
    Lvl 35
    64 Contribution Points
For a while i have been blocked off from many quests my mates get. And I cant find a reason, point is im blocked on main-ish story and It gets me annoyed.
So, I have completed quests in Delphe Castle and the entire Harpies Gone Wild Chain. According to some website after this I should receive a quest from a soldier in the outpost "Advanced Defences" or something like that (destroy harpy nests for second time), after that I should get a quest "Injured Adventurer" as a part of main story. Point is I dont get it.
    - I never also didnt get any quests in Khuruto cave (like destroying medalions etc) and I have completed all quests in the three camps surround the Khuruto area.
    - I didnt get quests in the "red tent" near the castle, all i got is some "go there, talk to, listen to" quests (2 i think) but that was it.
    - Also didnt get the daily with Harpy Abductors
    - This point blocks me from progressing the story further - i get almost no quests at Wheat Farm (done 2 and that was it)
I have ran around talking to NPC's i havent discovered yet, did all quests from Velia to this point (even the bloody cat searches on the roof and retrieving kites).
    Please help.
