Gear isn't as big of a deal in WOW as it is in BDO. Also, cash mounts literally provide 0 benefit to you. They're just there to look cool.

in wow nothing Looks cool ..^^

retain repeat customers by listening to their feedback on ur product? or completely disregard and watch your shit bleed out?

this isn't hard economics, Kakao has no intention of staying in the gaming industry long term, their target market are mobile app users. this is a simple cash grab to fund future projects

Exactly, once they get cash from this, they will throw it under the bus without a single damn care.

Which is why instead of this mess they should've announced server merges for current servers + free to play server next to it with this option enabled.

We'd have a choice at that point, and still be able to believe they're true to their word.

If I had a choice between a P2W server and a B2P server. I'd be much happier.

just needed an excuse to go back to FFXIV.

I WAS a paying user, i was ok with buying pets/costumes/dyes/whatever

The Value Pack already sounded some alarm bells but damn this escalated quickly

Time to bring the dosh somewhere else.

yes, O2O is basically mobile apps that take online/mobile users and draw them to offline destinations/stores

99% of their other investments are mobile apps, that is their target market

"Regardless of the region, there will always be players who, for whatever reason, do not get to experience all the features Black Desert offers including Pearl Shop Items. Adding a mechanic that grants access to Pearl Shop Items with in game currency will allow more players to enjoy such content more easily."

If this is the primary goal then ADD these items to the marketplace as a DAUM NPC item ; BUT do not allow people to take real life currency and turn it into in-game currency. ADD these items that you say are necessary and ADD them to the game. YOU add them to the game as a vendor auction item.  This achieves your TRUE goal as you have stated AND this does not adversely affect the community.

Greetings Adventurers,

Today we are writing you to provide insight into a new mechanic you can expect to see next week, following the normally scheduled maintenance. As many of you are aware, the Value Package was recently introduced to our Pearl Store. After detailed discussions with the Developers at Pearl Abyss, it has been decided that the Value Pack as well as other Pearl Shop Items will be made available via the Market Place over the next series of updates.

- Players might be allowed to register maximum of 5 Pearl Shop Items per week on the Market Place.

We understand that this change will spark discussions, and have asked Pearl Abyss to share their thoughts behind this decision.

*Pearl Abyss considers in-game accessibility to Pearl Items necessary in Black Desert.*

Regardless of the region, there will always be players who, for whatever reason, do not get to experience all the features Black Desert offers including Pearl Shop Items. *Adding a mechanic that grants access to Pearl Shop Items with in game currency will allow more players to enjoy such content more easily.*

*For the same reason, the players of other regions like Korea, Japan and Russia are preferring those features since it allows them better accessibility to Pearl Shop Items.*

We are open to the community’s feedback and we encourage you to share your thoughts and concerns in a constructive manner on this change.

NOTE: The previous announcement has been polished in order to deliver and clarify the intention better.

*1 - Pearl Abyss only considers it necessary to bring in more money. I think it's more necessary to listen to what us players actually want. But hey-ho, money > everything (Including reputation I guess)

*2 - There are other mechanics you can add to the game so those who can't spend real money can gain the benefit of getting cash shop items. Like for instance, a second form of in-game currency that can only be used to purchase such items, or an NPC that sells cash shop items for an amount of silver, or a way to convert silver into pearls. Those mechanics would benefit everyone and not drive loyal players who love this game away. But I guess nothing like those mechanics would ever be mentioned, because again, the end goal of this whole stupid idea is to harvest more money. A possible limitation of only being able to purchase 5 items a week is hardly a limitation, they will still reap the benefits while those of us who can't/dont want to spend money lag behind.

*3 - The majority of players left behind in Korea, Japan and Russia are probably the kind of players who can afford to spend real money on cash shop items to sell, therefore they're geared to the max, having fun while F2P players lag behind and eventually quit due to frustration.

So this game is now going to be Buy 2 Play, with a subscription model (Value Pack) and now pay to win?

Super.

What it sounds like to me is that Kakao doesn't even have a place here. However, since they are getting their share now with the intent of growth for a startup, BDO is imminent on this change. Sickening. Using someone else's product as a money tree to pick from.

they saw fast money in BDO to finance O2O buisiness plan.

It's pretty much what pokemon GO is.

Drawing ppl to a place and let them buy stuff there.

Happened in belgium week or so ago, shops invest in pokemons in their street => kids wanna go catch pokemons for free.

Parents buy food and stuff at shops ...

It's the newest business model.

what happens is player base will go down by half at least. GOOD job on killing your game. Its like any other situation where you let the "accountants" make decisions for anything else but accounting. I cant see how an experienced gamer in his right mind would ever choose to make the changes that you plan to do onto a really succesfull game. Experience the whole BDO you say, lemme put this in a clearer way : People that want a costume will swipe card to get it -> you get money - thats how it is now, after changes wallet warriors will by 10 x costumes for the big profit no gameplay, ofc at start some non payers will be like "oh oh i want that so bad i pay 200 mil of my hard grinded coin" without thinking that actually they are supporting the wallet warriors that will gear up fast with no effort then take over. When that happens that non payer will quit the game saying its too pay to win, and so will others like him, leaving you with some wallet warriors that cant sell anything on market anymore cuz of the low playerbase, in which case they will quit too. So you will end up with just a time based cash grab then nothing compared to a steady income that can last for years from dedicated players that contribue even if it is 20 e a month. Dont think i am right, no problem just look at all the games that shut down in the last 5-10 years. It was changes like these that ended most of them. Ask urselfs if its better to get 1 dollar each out of 1000 players or 100 dollars out of 10 players. It seems the same doesnt it? ITS NOT. Because its more fun to play with 1000 ppl on server than with 10. As a dedicated gamer with 17 years of gaming experience i ask you to not kill this game. It is the best i've seen in years. And please check btw how many players you allready lost during the time this announcement was on forum, not to mention the massive protest ingame from all the top guilds and some smaller ones. We as a gaming comunity stand UNITED. And WE do NOT want P2W in this game.

Perhaps this Infographic will help:

Game communities largely are made of demographic 1, however developers always make their fiscal earnings on demographic 2 and 3.

Demographic 1 will be the loudest and most vocally opposed to any p2w mechanic, however they have the least amount of actual power in seeing any change given to the amount of influence demographic 2 and 3 silently have. Demographic 1 will decrease in number drastically in the short-term, with demographic 2 fizzling out over the course of a 5 year span, with the remaining player base of an MMO being demographic 3.

This is the life span of most (I said most not all) MMO's that migrate here from KR. Either you make your peace with it, or find another genre of game to play.

Hmm what about this.

You cant sell any cash shop item but you can sell the pearl's
Just make a pearl market for this.

The buyer pay with silver but the seller just get other value. Call it this to magic coin's now.
For magic coin's you can't buy anything from the normal market.
Just add a new NPC in the game where you can use the magic coins.
You can buy black stone armor/weapon(but not the sharp or hard crystal's),Horses from horse market(here its exchange back to silver price to the seller),dye's (make it them same like in GW 2 just need it to buy one time and you can use infinity times ohh and you can get them from game to),mount's and there part's(not the costume's). <-(here we can put more good stuff what's not turn to p2w but still usefull)

Just to make it clear they are a comapny and they need money ther server park's,programer's and all worker cant work for hug's and pony fart's. Realy :D
Just pls be constructive and help them to make a working not P2W option.

Ohh and Kakao Games just decrase the price's in the shop and make so many items account wide...

Ohh just a msg for the kid's stop QQ and be constructive.... This is a feedback forum and not a kindergarten.

Yeah I know. I've seen that happening in my city. Even one local restaurant throws items (or lures, whatever) up for Pokemon Go while they eat.

Saying that Kr/Jp/Ru palyers wants P2W features is completly false. Mos of the actual RU players in EU server came here because this P2W features killed their game on RU.

When PA says "it's for palyers who cant afford it with RL cash" it's totally false too .. you should have put a PNJ who sold it or give us a way to convert INGAME MONEY in PEARL ...

This is what is it, a complete, massive, P2W features and a big big middle finger to anyone who payed that game with the promises that "it 's a B2P here, and the cashshop is very exepensive because you'll never have any P2W here" (regardless of whatever you wrote on little charcaters on the very bottom of the page, t's still a SCAM".

DAUM, Kakao and PA are forever blacklisted for most of the player who experienced BDO, Even EA didn't do as bad.
