Screw you guys, really.

What if... able to buy/sell value packs with another form of currency/tokens that one needs to do tedious tasks for? Maybe a daily quest with different goals for each day of the week (eg. Monday has a randomized/account "need to fish x of this particular type of fish", Tuesday "need to cook x of this specific food", Friday "kill x of this particular group of mobs" etc.)

It'll resolve the issue of some players not being able to use pearls to buy items while players do not get gold for selling them.

I feel most of you tend to get lost in semantics and argue if this is P2W or not, and, by extension of this, if the company lied to its playerbase or not. Most arguments saying this is not P2W revolve around the fact that you can just play the game and get the gear that someone can buy using the silver he can (probably get) by selling pearl items on the marketplace.

Now, this is indeed true. You can, if you grind long enough, get to that point. The problem is in how the game has been conceived. These types of games take advantage of the competitive nature of humans. Most people invested in life skills or scenery admiration wont pay PA much anyway. So if someone grinding 24/7 can reach the gear level of a whale in a couple months, then the developers will make sure that they put out an expansion or some new piece that is a "must have" by that time so the whales dont feel deceived out of their money, they keep the top spot and the player that thought he will reach whale status without being one is given another gap to close until he can get the feeling of achievement he needs. This will continuously happen until the game is milked dry and dies off.

The problem with getting a big chunk of money in a short amount of time by selling these pearl items makes it almost a certainty that if you dont pay you will never really have something to show for your play time. Heck, the whole game is designed just around bragging rights, with leaderboards everywhere. This is typical of asian markets, im not saying this is good or bad, its just how they have it there. It is really off putting to know that a developer is expecting you to give them money to not be a punching bag for the guys that do, and that s not even for a long time considering they have events and patches that make it easier for newer players to catch up, just because those newer players need to be given a chance to pay up and maybe become a new whale.

In the end this cycle of new content that makes the old obsolete by progression standards, and other small, almost invisible features that encourage competition are there to stimulate spending, quick spending so as to maximize your time in game and get a sense of achievement, before the game dies down. The problem that stems from this is that the life span of the game is severely shortened and that means players that are simply enjoying the content will do so for a much shorter time. That doesn't really concern the devs as this is a money making machine and not a piece of art. Everything is about money in their market, the hope that it has suddenly become all about the experience just because they are selling this in the west as well probably shouldn't have been there in the first place.

In recent years MMOs (heck, most games even) have been created as businesses not as games and that is more and more apparent as they have become more soulless and gray as time goes by. Just think about it.

TL/DR: Yes, the game is P2W because even though you can catch up without paying you will never realistically do so because if it takes you x amount of time to do so in that x amount of time the max paying customer has already progressed to y and so forth. No competitive reason in playing without ponying up the cash = P2W. Also, this type of dev thinking makes games boring and impersonal, like reading an excel sheet.

Now that we all gave you such an "intense" feedback, which is what you were asking for, can you definitely tell us if it's gonna go p2w once and for all? So i know wether i should quit or stay.

Honestly this is pathetic, if your so worried about people not having access to the pearl shop items allow them to earn costume packs etc in-game. This is obviously just a  cash grab to try and squeeze more money out of your player base and all it is going to do and all it is going to do is drive people away.

Another option since clearly you guys have not listened to the majority of BDO players being against this is create a server where people don't need to play with this P2W model. Allow anyone who wants to transfer off the servers that have that model the ability to do so for free and give us a server that does not have any option to sell the pearl store items on the market place.

Can someone make a video on the steps to take on how the refund works? If its possible? I think i fell to the game due to false advertisement and if refund not possible, can someone make an article/ video for the new bdo and what is currently happening, just to document all these to help our fellow people from falling into the trap.  Spread the word like a wild fire burn the shit down.

https://www.reddit.com/r/blackdesertonline/comments/4w71eo/psa_how_to_dispute_your_daumgames_transactions/

But hold off on issueing the request until you see what they do though. They are saying it will be implemented with this week's maintenance - until such time it happens, there is no definitive proof, just intent to which they ask feedback. And the community feedback is apparent though!

WHO IS RUNNING KAKAO!? DO YOU EVEN CEO BRO!?

You're stock has plummeted 40% in 2 years, and now your ruining one of the best revenue generators you have going for yourself omg I just can't even, no words can express the sheer and utter stupidity of this decision.

Monday morning Kakao HQ:

Shareholder: Mr kakao our stocks have dropped 40% in 2 years, what are you doing about this disaster

Ceo Of Kakao: Well we're currently in the process of our ruining a game we invested money in and completely tarnishing our name all over the internet

I'm not even joking I've logged onto Wildstar, SWTOR, D3, Overwatch, HOTS, everybody is laughing at this company right now. People who were thinking about trying it out are now running like this game is the plague of the earth. Why do you guys have to ruin a great game, and thanks for selling out Daum screw you guys too

And HOW are you gonna drop this announcement on us and then just go silent!? Wheres the communication!?

Before to burst in the worst way possible, I think it's too early for speculations how this game will be after this update but one thing irritates the hell outta me, the fact that you guys lied us

If I remember correctly at the beginning you guys said something like ''this game will be B2P and the shop items will be bound to you unable to sell them on marketplace'' and now after a few months decide to make the opposite of what you guys said. Transform this game in P2W, nice move...
''Regardless of the region, there will always be players who, for whatever reason, do not get to experience all the features Black Desert offers including Pearl Shop Items. Adding a mechanic that grants access to Pearl Shop Items with in game currency will allow more players to enjoy such content more easily''.
if i remember correctly, a online game must reward the player who put his time and effort in a game, why not events were you can win a costume, why not at the end of 30 daily log you get a free pet, costume etc. if you want for everyone to have experience with Pearl Shop make one of those things.

''We are open to the community’s feedback and we encourage you to share your thoughts and concerns in a constructive manner on this change''. If you are open to the community feedback, why do you keep hide, delete and ban players who express their opinions, concerns and thoughts about this major changes that will change(damage) the game in your own detriment.

I if this mechanic will be implemented to the game, you will prove that you don't care about the community feedback...

Extremely well written. All of this is true, and the problem right now, is that the community has divided into oppositions. There shouldnt be. Even if you decide to keep playing the game you shouldnt be happy about being a spunge, you can deal with it, but you shouldnt be happy about it. Those who dont accept it fight against corrupting games from art and quality into milking machines that take advantage out of psycological exploits.

I hope that a big company buys Black Desert Online and re release it as it should be. Remove all the P2W antics (Quoting Daum on their own betrayal ;))
