Quick tutorial to fix the Pixelation on Characters Portraits

Hello,

This topic, is based on the work of the user game_difficult and his reddit post, all credit belong to the user. 

The following instructions, are simple Step by step picturized guide, on how to achieve the goal of a better looking character portraits :

  • Locate the premade portraits folder on : Documents\Black Desert\FaceTexture.

  • Locate the Portrait you would like to improve, R.Click and Edit - your free to use any picture software with a "resize" option, in this example, i will be using the most basic one : Paint. ofc ^_^
  • On the upper bar, locate and click "resize".

  • On this window : click on "Pixels" and Uncheck "Maintain Aspect Ration"
  • On the upper 2 boxes, change the value of Horizontal & Vertical respectively to : 155 and 200, the end result should look like this :

  • Press Ok, and Save the changes.

Voila! your done.

Thank you for this. I will play with it when I get home.  My Kuno will no longer be too tall for her character window. :-)

We also need the option to provide our guild symbol in all required sizes by ourselves. The ingame downscale is simply horrible.

Im trying it right now but damn I wish I didnt have so many alts .... I have all my character slots taken on the 3 servers.

Nope, you will get back to the basic portraits, the ones we had before this update.

If you like to create a customized portrait, simply open Beauty (F4), on top left you can find a new button :

Take the pose you like, background, light, ..ect, and simply press that button, to generate an instant Portrait picture (you still need to resize it tho).

You can also, make your portrait based on an in-game Screenshot, just make sure to change your setting of Screenshot in-game to generate a Bmp file, the type used by the game to create portraits (default is JPG) :
