Resist working as intented?

Hello there. So long story short, I blew up ogre in DUO attempts and wanted to try out Manos.

I took a guildie to the arena and wanted to see how much of a difference my newly crafted PRI emerald neck (stun/stif) would help me in PvP.

at the time of this test I had 52% resist towards the crowcontrol types he threw at me. Yet only 1/20 of the stuns actually got resisted. He tried taking off bheg gloves to see if those were affecting the outcome (you never know in this game)

- 52% resist chance (sheet)

- 60% being cap in pvp

- 10% ignore resist on the attacker

And yet I only resisted 1/20 stuns he threw at me. Something just seems odd so do anyones else find the same results or were my samplesize simple just too small and RNG played me a fool?

Depends on the actual resistance and the skills used.

(However unlikely the possibility that you used the wrong resist + skills to test - just devil's advocate since you didn't mention these. I have seen people that thought float was knockdown.... just a possibility)

The more LIKELY explanation is the skills that were used themselves; Some skills in the game are actually multi-hit CCs. That means they roll the CC rng dice multiple times and if any of the rolls succeed it CCs the target. Off the top of my head some examples of these may be;
any multitude of Ninja/Kuno skills
Valkyrie Celestial Spear is a 2 hit CC,
residual lightning ticks a few times too I think?

Additionally the grab skills for Zerker and Ninja classes have an added effect of kicking/headbutting you over with a knockdown CC if the grab part fails. Supposedly warriors have this too but I've yet to actually notice being kicked over by them - on that note I've only ever noticed the ninja classes doing the kick on videos in the KR server as mine personally never trigger a kick if it fails.

Thanks for a quality reply. It was a Tamer testing on my Sorc. He knew what type of cc effect each of his abilties added. so it was not the case of him mistaking the abilties. Also befor we did the 20 stuns. He tried all of his different types of cc on me, for me to judge if i could see any difference in having higher resist towards some types (higher stun than float e.g)

We also tried me using me "E" buff in awakening form (30% resist) and only here I noticed a small increase in more resists on the stuns) After this result I kinda just had the feeling it was either very unlucky RNG or resist from gear not working probably. Hence why I wanted to hear if others had similar experience :)

when the Ninja is unable to perform his grab, he does a backwards flip/summersault/cartwheel thingie, but I think that is only when the move targets a mob immune to knockdown

(something that has over 100% resist maybe? as I've fought the same mobs 6-10 levels later and they sometimes, very rarely, get knocked down.  So maybe "immune" is simply "too high resist" for your toon to knock them down and that is partially based off your toon's current level.  I dunno, fishing here...)
