Hilarious :) Did they even notice the classes and the costumes they released till now? I mean how a bathing suite will be worse than a maid or a giant in tuxedo, or the lingerie? I strongly support the original medieval landmark and aesthetics, but its is already totally screwed anyway.

The medieval philosophy has already been breached. May as well go all out and release swimsuits and lewd costumes now.

i guess it's all totally subjective, but i'd personally say they are pretty loose with what they consider "immersion breaking fashion"

It is not subjective. And it is not fashion. It is a greedy publisher who knows sex sells, and targets the Asian market. What was the initial idea of the game does not really matter.

if it was only "sex sells" tho, they probably would have gone lewder. They are walking a thin line between compromising their artistic vision and making BDO super lewd. Or perhaps their artistic vision is indeed our current level of ridiculousness and Pearl Abyss is holding true to their integrity. I dunno. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt.

i wonder tho... do you think they are trying to optimize their lewdness to medeival ratio so that it: 1) yields the most money or  2) most truly represents their artistic vision???

This is a game with medieval landmarks and classes and at the same time there are kunos nijas and muses. They can go ahead and add up spaceships as well because I dont see how they can claim they have some kind of "theme" in this game.

I also fail to see how a bikini kan ruin the game- they doing the whole job perfectly well by themselves :P

Artistic vision? HAHAHAHA....riiiiight!

At the start they did. Now they don't. I mean till the release of the Pirates island in Korea they were very careful about the aesthetics. Then they just released all the stuff you can find in any Asian game with cash shop - maids, tuxedos, lingerie, stupid accessories. Then they added new classes that do not really fit with the initial idea of - Europe from late XVI century - that was said by PA. And now, specially with the awakening, they just fully switched to typical Asian MMO aesthetics.

My personal opinion is the initial design was inspired by The Game of Thrones. And they decided even to put the game in a certain period of the European history. But then they just switched to the Asian aesthetics because of the cash shop and the marketing model imposed by Kakao (Daum then)

the sad thing is that it wouldn't have really needed much to stay with the fantasy/mideval theme and still have the same functions. A wench instead of a maid, an classic nobles suit in black rather than tuxedo etc. they clearly have some decent artists at PA, as a number of the outfits are nice and do fit the theme. I suspect management and the creative/design teams have differing opinions of what the game should be.

There is nothing said about medieval philosophy from PA, that's you putting words in their mouths. Also, considering that the translator of the dualshocker interview screwed up elsewhere, I wouldn't be surprised if they did even more translation mistakes.

Immersion is very important with MMOS. Don't need this game to turn into another weeb freakshow mmo.

There's still a difference between fighting in skimpy modified armor or in underwear or bikinis. It's good that there is a mix of both "normal" types, the more covered ones and the more skimpy ones, cause there are people who like one version over the other. Although I also dislike seeing someone fighting in bikini, it's just not fitting. Also those marine costumes are borderline but still it's not beyond the absolute edge imo.

Well at least they claim to have a line they won't cross.

Tera / BHS had no line, thusly resulting in soccar uniforms and soccar ball mounts... and police car mounts...

that game was ahead of its time... Totally squandered.

Immersion is a meaningless buzzword and a weeaboo is someone obsessed with Japanese culture.
