Sooo, I haven't been around the community or anywhere near BDO since April. I was in alpha/beta/head start and yada soo, can someone give me a rough overview of the changes since then? Good? Bad? I wanna know it all!

Might be a good idea for you to go through the patch notes published since then.  Lots of stuff added and/or changed.  However, from my perspective the game has gotten better and better (been playing since March).  Also, lots of drama.  Most, but certainly not all, from angry competitive PvP players that think the game revolves around them and when they don't get their way they throw temper tantrums.  I'm sure to get flamed for that comment but that is my honest feelings about it.

PVP was killed due to staggered releases of awakenings which quite literally makes master race classes.

Sooo, I haven't been around the community or anywhere near BDO since April. I was in alpha/beta/head start and yada soo, can someone give me a rough overview of the changes since then? Good? Bad? I wanna know it all!

3. +20 aids got released and pvp for casuals took a big hit
4. xp loss ot removed so griefed started to grief back. probably the most balanced part of the game.
5. Warrior got a big weiner
6. Sorc finally got er helicopter liscence
7. Ranger became Legolass.
8. Zerker became the hellspawn of iron man and megaman.... and John Cena
9. Tamer became a pole dancer... poor thing shes so young.
10. Game finally got some sweet mobs. but you need serious gear to fight them
11. Vile scum of the earth decided to exploit the game and got booted \o/
12. LOTS of free stuff events. You get a black stone, You get a blackstone EVERYONE GETS A BLACK STONE

On top of already mentioned stuff:

Daum/Kakao Games Europe changes.

Belzahar took parental leave, Jouska got promoted to PM in his stead, new people among the GM team as you'll notice if you check the forums a bit every now and then. CM aetheon took Jouska's job as CM, Tytyes quit yesterday or so iirc. 

After Belzahar left the communication suffered heavily, especially between the community and PA. 

Cash shop/Marketplace changes.

"True dye" are sellable on marketplace (ok chance from loyalty RNG dyes, terrible ratio from pearl RNG dyes).

Value pack (aka optional subscription) which is totally not a subscription *cough* bullcrap *cough* got implemented and gives you a lot of convenience stuff (more LT, more inventory space, more EXP, Merv's pallet etc) and 30% reduced tax for 30 days (totally not a subscription, right?). Costs 15 euro. There's also a 1 day version you can get for loyalties every 14th day if you save all your loyalties those 14 days (since it costs 1400 loyalties).

Cash shop items became sellable on marketplace after 70% or so of all the people and polls showed that we didn't want that in BDO, so a chunk of players left with that*

Artisan's Memory became available for pearls, up to ten every day if I read correctly. There's a loyalties option for 400 loyalties for 1 as well (which Imo is bs since the comparison would be Tear, which is the same cash shop price BUT 4 times cheaper for loyalties (iirc?)).

New and updated marketplace in-game. It will maybe take a while to get used to. Quite recent change so it should be easy to find.

*Note that you can not register ANY item, but only specific ones. For example, pets and costumes/sets without effects beside the 10% combat exp might be the only things you CAN register. 

Content.

Mediah maybe was out when you left? Otherwise, Mediah have come out. Also Valencia part 1 and part 2. Kakao's plan is to catch up with KR before the end of the year afaik.

The awakenings we were PROMISED to be released all at once was screwed over and are getting released one every 2 weeks instead.

Siege's/Node Wars have been implemented. Ask ppl in guilds more about this I'd say and check Kakao's introduction to it if it's still up on their site or here on the forums under the News.

Being PK'd will NOT make you lose any experience. 

New systems have been implemented. For example, you can now duel another person and hide workers (they will still work, you just won't have to see them). 

Manos accessories have been implemented. 

Hunting have been implemented (life skill). 

Soft cap was raised to 55 from 50 iirc.

The rewards for leveling your character to a certain level have been increased in terms of silver. 

RNG accessory boxes have been implemented. 

Night Vendor have been implemented. 

Horse Racing recently got implemented. 

New fish species have been implemented.

The fishing system got a revamp in june or july. Google or search the forum for more info. 

 

 

Uhm.... That's the stuff that I can remember at the top of my head ._. haven't slept so can't think too well atm :/. Sorry. I hope this answers a few of your questions about what's happened though.

No, not really. This was the most autistic move I've seen by far.
Killing someone now only means you lose karma and the killed person stands to lose nothing.
So now if you decide to grief someone by KSing them until they're fed with the bullshit and forced to switch channels and take this risk of landing in another taken channel, there is nothing the victim can do. At least before he could just kill and discourage the griefer.

Congratulations PA. You prevented one griefing method, that at least stood justified as a competitive model, and was fun, and promoted the other that is just plain being an ass.

Artisan's Memory do not have a limit. You can buy as many as you want ^^. Rest info is accurate.

It means you can buy 1 or 10 at a time. If you buy 10 you get a small discount.

Well, if you are a Tamer and you are trying to do your awakening quest and another Tamer gets overexcited about having a big staff all of a sudden and kills you, you have to find your way back up the mountain from the "closest node".

You are suppose to get attacked for no reason, it is the desert, not to offend anyone here but this is not friendly game outside towns, it is actually Role playing mmo where the role play consist of bandits and evil adventurers roaming the land killing other players just for fun and there are consequences like negative karma and prison, they already removed the xp loss to cater to people progress, now what is left it to cater to those evil players and at least get the spawns back to major cities.
