I only just bought the game a few days ago and I'm getting the same 514.12/1.04 GB thing a lot of others have.  Has this seriously not been fixed for almost a week now?

Edit: What do you know, three minutes after I post this, it works again.  Guess you really do need to just wait it out.

when eve online started in 2003, and for several years after it had a one hour server maintenance every night.

it's much shorter now, but it still has it every night, and you can see how such a thing has killed that game after just a few short years.

Why are patch notes released after patch and not before like in other games?  Shouldn't it be simpler to add them just at maintenance so people know what to expect before actually login into the game to play whatever updates were applied?  Wouldn't that increase the amount of people that read the patch notes?

I don't understand why the downtime is so long, every server I ever managed had patch times in minutes not hours.

Did you mange a game :? Stuff happens, not having a private/public beta environment really makes this this harder though, they are pushing patches to live then trying to sort out the bugs in a few hours. Which is a fairly large order considering that there is generally a LOT of stuff added/tweaked that takes time to actually test.

Game is great guys keep up the good work! Amazing content rollout.  Sure they aren't perfect all the time but you fix things fast enough when they go wrong. Appreciate all your hard work. Will continue to support your game.

Why does everything have to be exactly the same as other games? I just read the notes while the update installs after maintenance. I've seen games that toss out the notes beforehand and then make changes to them after maintenance is over because something was taken out or added in and then everyone rages about it anyhow.

Yes I have, firstly you say there is not a private environment but yet the servers are closed to most while the "patching and testing" is allowed to a few, that IS a private environment and the ports can easily been made to differ so main gameplay is not affected, you could simply run a test server with reduced capacity on the same system for debugging and then merge across in minutes. Its a very simple process one which I have implemented in many environments from ecommerce to gaming.

most games have a actual PBE or CBE environment so that patches get tested much more in depth before going to live that we actually do not have by players that volenteer to actually play in that environment. LoL, Over watch to name a few, i know even some MMOs have private beta environments for certain players they hand select to actually play test patches weeks in advance to actually make sure they iron out all the bugs, something we do not have.

Why shorten siege times on the same patch you smash all servers together so every node has at least 3 forts built on it zzz we have to fight freaking elephants guilds on tier 1s, because they have to completely dominate everyone else built on a given node to be able to take out 2~3 forts in 2 hours, and being strong enough to take out the first fort in a hour, and get the second to 30% before time runs out is just lame. I liked the way it was with similar strength guilds able to stall eachother out, but with such short node wars, should just make highest hp fort take it, or simply make them 3 hours like they were so you have enough time to eat through 2 guilds
