What is the point of playing this game if you are even remotely behind?

This game is a scam. You basically buy into it and then find out you are never going to catch up to anyone. Your chances of getting to the point where you can be considered decent are incredibly slim. You have to bust your ass grinding day in and day out for even a chance for the gear you need. Even then, it's RNG. You can sit your ass down at a world boss for weeks and never see anything. Good luck getting your Dande/Nouver/Kzarka at the market place. It won't happen.

You're going to watch everyone around you get insanely lucky, and then have your guild turn around and tell you how insanely easy the game is and that you just need to grind even more. They give you these stupidly inflated numbers for some kind of vague encouragement to keep going. There isn't even a reason to keep going, you are utterly useless to your guild. And they aren't going to go help you. They don't even do Sausans anymore. You get to solo grind. If you show up for nodewars you get put into the siege weapons so you can twiddle your thumbs. Then everybody pats you on the head and tells you what a good boy you were.

Then when you solo grind, you get pushed out of your spot immediately because everybody else can one-shot you. Then you get to call your guild in so they can do PvP that you can't even include yourself in, because you have no gear.

And then you get to go to world-bosses, where the people who do the most damage get more loot. So enjoy the rich getting richer, goy. There is absolutely no point in playing this game, and everyone who defends it is already uber-geared. Give me one(1) reason why there is any point in trying to play the infinite game of catchup that is Black Desert. I assure you that by the time you do catch up, the goalpost will already have moved.

You are just supposed to be cannonfodder for geared people.

This game is only good if you like life skills and waifus... Gear based pvp, 0 balance between classes, and lacking future content... Yeah, Margoria is just another empty area and Kamasilvia doesnt have a town or worker nodes yet... Maybe in October... In Korea...

Hope that you start enjoying fishing or trading cause will be the most exciting thing happening in Margoria patch...

Naval battles... LOLOLOLOLOL...

i play because i hope some day they ease up the experience curve again and make 60 achievable in some days so i can ----- around with all the skills, and not be gated by a retarded grind that would take me months to achieve at my play time.

Because it's not that difficult to catch up if you play the game?

Do Lifeskills, build up loads of silver, buy gear, now you can grind up in safety knowing you are either slightly behind or on par to others.

The gearing system despite being linear has more of a forgiving curve than most games meaning you could use one character as a silver grinding machine and gear up a fresh character in Tet gear from that grind because there's no level restriction.

So yes you can catch up. Just don't expect to catch up in a week, think longer term and that each day you move a step closer to the pack.

I stopped reading your post after the first line.

First of all, I don't play MMO's to "catch up" to anyone.  I play them for my own entertainment, and *my* entertainment doesn't include you.

So the "point" of playing "this game" is the same point for any other game --> "Whatever you want it to be."

Some play to compete, and those that are heavy competitors will do fine, without a cash-shop.
Those of us that play for our own amusement, not so much worrying about "EMERGHERD IM THE BEAST OVER 9000!!!!!"......well....we'll still be here a few years down the road when you "come back" and ask the same question.

Tootles.

News flash, I installed this game day freaking 1,  started off in a Guild that pushed me super hard ... I played every single day 10+ hours ... and I STILL fell behind a good portion of the GVG'ing players.  Sorry you don't think it's worth it now, but it wasn't worth it back then either if you had abnormally bad RNG luck like me.  You think TIME picks winners and losers in this game?  HAH, think again ;)

Another one of these posts :x

Well here's what you know: Most ppl are between TRI and TET in gear, weapon + accessories.

Here's what you can do: Grind low level areas first, until you get silver for better stuff. Then upgrade and get better stuff. Move to another area to get more silver and/or gear/accessories. Rinse and repeat until you hit TRI at least in most things, that's when you'll have "caught up" to most ppl I'd say. Now, start focus on TET. Once you have a few TET (awakening, kzarka, off-hand for examples) you'll be "ahead" of most. Now, upgrade your accessories to duo-TRI and you'll have caught up with most "no lifers".

Examples: Do 1-50. Grind Mansha's for 3-12 mill/day until you can hit 115-125 ap/dp score. Move to Helms. Grind helms until you get maybe PRI gear etc. Move to Manes or rouges. Stay there until 130-140 AP. Move on to Elrics (less competition than Sausans) until 150-155 AP. At this stage most of your stuff should be PRI/DUO. Check some guides how to get more AP/DP + accuracy after that.

^ an example.

If you wanna reach the top 30 in a life skill, go for that life skill and use every exp boost related to it that you can. Read guides on how to level it efficiently etc.

If you wanna be at the top in terms of level, no life grind as much as possible with as much exp boost as possible (not sure about the cap on exp boost if there is one though). You'll likely never "catch up" with the top 1% since you're way behind but you're likely to be able to get into the top 2% if you do this, as most players who grind for "the top" gets exhausted/burnt out eventually or get bored and decide to do something else as well, on top of their daily "x hours of grinding".

Instead of whining, actually play the game and read up on stuff. The loot from bosses is not just for top dps but also for randoms via RNG. And please, don't tell me "whaa! whaa! I have played for a WHOLE MONTH! I should be at strong as those who've played almost 10 times as much Q.Q". Because that's 1: Wrong. 2: Quite a bad attitude. If you want to be "at the top" as you say, then you got to be prepared to put in the hours and effort it takes.

that's not even remotely true...

im sitting on tet gear for months now and i haven't upgraded at all because i attempted to get better accessories and so far blew over 3bil to gain less than 6 ap which is literally nothing in pvp

you *feel* you're behind but that's not the case

TRI gear in bdo is competitive enough right now, tet is just luxury, tri can beat tet with skill but most ppl will be arrogant enough to say that tet users are gear carried and just discard their skill which isnt how  things work

also you can just get enough accuracy to make up for lack of gear and rely on skill to dodge to make up for lack of defensive gear and you'll still be good to go..

problem is newcomers think theyre mad skills or some shit and they lose cus of gear and not cus theyre worse?

^   Do all this, just to reach level 60 and discover that PvP sucks and you can only reroll or become a life skiller.

Yeah, BDO is the only game where you need to play hardcore for MONTHS (or pay lazy koreans generously instead) and be lucky to start PVPing... Till then you will be blown up in a single hit. And if you stay in the area you were grinding you will be called a karma bomber by the feggit that just came, you know...

So many retards...

Find something else to do for a month so you can catch up easier in Olvia.

Is up to 58 only... Unless they are giving TRI gear for free in Olvia channel it is a stupid idea...

And Olvia channels are only better from Monday-Friday, with weekend XP buff you get the exact same XP in Olvia channels than in the others during the weekend. Not adding.

You can grind up to 58.99. The pros of using Olvia is people are mostly new players there and there's less competition for reasons you've already mentioned. Also, if I'm not mistaken, weekend xp buff is +100% while olvia is +200% all time, granted they don't benefit from additional xp events.

I can sorta agree with OP, on the part where there are a lot of rng things that make pvp very unequal. You can PVP for a shit tonne and okay, get skilled at your class but there will always be RNG cucking people everywhere by the billions in silver. I lifeskilled and grinded for 2 weeks made myself a few hundred mill. Then today, in ONE day i enchanted 4 pri crescents, 2 duo crescents in a row without -----ing fail and made all that money in one day. I should be thankful but it feels -----ing bad tbh knowing that I made this much money with so much more effort in the weeks.

im still 'play' this game cuz there isn't nothing better yet,
one day maybe this year or the next one some other better game will be released,
just wait, anyway i can say for sure that you will complain about something other also when you will find the game that 'suits' you.

This is not the first game that i see having a lot of potential being wasted by stupid mechanics -_-

When i read topics like this i feel like WTF. People get almost everything for free from events, level softcaps are moved so high and people still complain :D Dude when you need to feel you are catching up and being competitive just start playing serious (just grind tons of silver and buy items u miss with high preorders) and do not wait for extreme luck.

Otherwise just enjoy the game as it is.

Prime example of the delusional people in defense of this brainless casino-system. Best gear without any effort? Do you seriously consider grinding brainless mobs and rng-enchanting to be real effort? In the light of MMOs - including WoW you choose to bash - the ways of obtaining gear in BDO are ridiculously, if not to say hilariously, absent of any kind of skill-requirements. You can literally get the most incompetent player without any previous gaming history to do it just as well as any other, with a little help of RNG. This is also the main reason why this pretense to have accomplished something simply because you have put XY hours into it holds true for BDO. But essentially, it doesn't favor you as a player, it only labels you as the donkey chasing the carrot.

Personally, I don't mind that mediocre players enjoy the PvP here. In a way it makes sure that they don't ruin the fun for the decent folk playing PvP elsewhere. But this bashing of other MMOs with a far far higher skill-ceiling than BDO is laughable at best.
