Sigh

More fish = More chances = better odds.

Let's say 1 in 100 fish are Rare fish

You fish for one hour afk

In that hour without fishing speed you only catch 30 fish, whereas with you catch 50.

You have given yourself 20 more chances in that hour to catch that rare fish, that's not saying you won't catch it in 30, but the odds AND the math is with the person that catches 50.

Gambling is afterall mathematics, you simply weigh the odds as much in your favour as you can.

You are wrong. @War is correct. Fishing speed does not improve your chance to catch more rare fish. It gives you the opportunity to catch more fish overall, both rare and not rare, at the same ratio that a lower fishing speed would.

Law Of Averages all three of you do me a favour and read what it is.

Because it seems that law didn't sink in at school.

But once more.

The chance of a rare fish is say 1 in 100 fish

Fisherman A catches 50 fish

Fisherman B catches 30 fish

Fisherman C catches 20 fish

Who is the most likely to have caught the rare fish?

Let me give you a hint.

It's not C

Edit: Since none answered, the chance is still 1-100 however fisherman A rolled the dice 50 times giving them 20 more rolls at 1-100 than fisherman B and 30 more than fisherman C. The law of Averages dictates that while all have a 1-100 chance fisherman A rolled more and thus has a better Average of catching the rare fish.

More rolls = better average = more chances at rare fish.

It's not a static number, like every 6 fish 1 is rare, 2 are blue 2 green 2 white, it's a random roll like throwing a dice your chance doesn't change, but the more you throw that dice the more likely you are to hit the number you want

Fisher A would catch more fish because he would essentially fish for more time. Fishing speed does exactly that, allows you to fish faster. It does not dictate for how long you will actually fish though. It is not the fishing speed that causes one to catch more rare fish. It is the time you spend fishing. Each time you catch a fish the chance for it to be rare has nothing to do with the interval between casts. The quantity of rare fish you get is a product of the chance to get one and the number of casts during the time spent fishing.

Actually, never mind. Believe what you wish, it's too late, going to bed...

fishing faster generally means they are catching more fish in the same period of time than someone that isn't using things to make them fish faster, unless of course it's a different timer, I.e fishing skill only effects manual fishing speed not automatic, in which case fishing speed would be worthless to afk fishing.

however it isn't as it triggers the countdown portion of afk fishing quicker say 15 seconds quicker than someone whom isn't therefore they gain 15 seconds per full rotation (3 minutes 30 seconds for no fishing speed, 3 minutes 15 seconds for fishing speed at a rough estimate)

60 divided by 3.5 = 17.14 rotations

60 divided by 3.25 = 18.46 rotations

30 seconds is half a minute hence 0.5, 15 seconds is quarter of a minute hence 0.25

Now times both by 8 an average AFK to sleep/work period

137.12 and 147.68

That's 10 more fish in an 8 hour period from having fishing skill compared to not having it.

So sorry boys, Mathematics called, it said you're wrong

Edit: Also War, I certainly hope you're not a computer engineer if you can't grasp something as simplistic as law as averages, stick to stacking shelves at Walmart. isn't it funny how every E-badass is a Computer Engineer?  You mean you tinkered with code once, you put together a rig, now you're an Engineer? You and every 15 year old mate, no doubt you probably joined military sniper school at some point too eh? Once you've heard one, you've heard them all

As for the other guy, Triggered?  millennial trash, listen to your teacher and stop using your parents credit card, they will find out and it'll be no more "Tendies" for you.

To Quote Milo. "I don't care about your feelings, I care about facts" the fact is you want fishing speed to increase your dice rolls per hour and thus get more shots at rare fish. Doesn't matter what you "Feel" it matters that it's fact.
