Safe Accessory Enhancements

I realize this is probably something that will be polarizing to many players and possibly not feasible to implement, but I felt it was at least an interesting idea worth sharing. Perhaps it might generate even better ones.

The concept is produce a cost prohibitive force enhancement for accessories similar to how weapons and armor can be forced.

The Forced Enhancement would require a duplicate of that item at the Same Enhancement level:

Base Item & Base Item => +1 Item. Maximum Durability reduced by 50.
+1 Item  & +1 Item => +2 Item. Maximum Durability Reduced by 100.
+2 Item  & +2 Item => +3 Item. Maximum Durability Reduced by 100.
+3 Items cannot be forced further.

At this point, even durability repairs wouldn't make it cost prohibitive enough for something like the Ogre Ring, so either this would be restricted to Blue grade items or require cron stones to do so (Perhaps exponential increases such as 10 Crons  for +1, 100 Crons for +2, and +1000 for +3 for yellow items)

Alternatively (requiring additional interface coding), you could make it more costly if you required more than 2 duplicate items per force enhancements, which would also help maintain market value stability on base items.

I would mainly hope that cron stones would be more effective to protect the item. 
They already have a high enough cost, that they should also prevent downgrading, not just item loss.
Or, maybe add 50% cron stones to prevent downgrading, as a player's choice?

to join your idea, if the were made available to unenhanced items, it would do what you ask for, without much development time, as the mecanic is already in-game..
