Grim Reaper's Judgment animation cancel conditions

There's an animation cancel for chaining Grim Reaper's Judgment into other skills, where the ending "wind-down" of GRJ disappears and the other skill is immediately accelerated.

I have seen this work for GRJ -> Violation, and GRJ -> Cartian's Nightmare, provided that spacebar is used for the 10 shards buff. However, I can't get it to work consistently; sometimes GRJ will just continue its animation and wind all the way down before slowly starting the next skill, which is extremely frustrating.

Does anyone know what causes this to fail?

shard charged GRJ will cancel into anything really, as long as it hits a target. If it doesn't hit a target, it wont cancel the slow end-animation. At least for me this is consistent behaviour.

i noticed the same with GRJ -> Violation. i tried against puppets and most of the time it will do a quick cancel into violation but sometimes it doesnt...

how is this fluent? C is on Cooldown for 1 or 2 seconds after switching out of scythe.

you start in scythe

you do your grim slice, you do midnight stinger which automatically puts you out of scythe form, you press c midway using midnight stinger and therefor switch to your scythe again which, if you then activate violation will make you spin without a wind-up.

Stingering out of scythe puts C on CD for 2s... do you even sorc?! You can RC back into scythe after MS, but that's hardly fluent either.

ms+c> up + RMB

RC and C have their own cd. they dont share it. I wont repeat this. Go try it out.

ms+c> up + RMB

yes this works fine, ms + c lets you cancel into many awakening skills ( Violation, Turn Back Slash or Blade of Darkness for example)

but try this:

Grim Reapers Judgment -> ms + c -> up + RMB, it wont work because you get the cooldown on "c" when using MS , as shown in the gif above, and wont be able to use C before the MS animation finished.

If you are next to the target, which to be fair never happens, But if you are because you got the MS dead on the RC is fluent......
None of the guides have it listed but there was a good old pre awakened (duo cancel) combo thats a great filler instead of trying to cancel & go back into awakening asap, works wonders as long as imminent doom isnt on cooldown.

thats all good to know but originally the thread was about using Violation (or other skills) after GRJ and why it sometimes cancels and sometimes not. I dont think using MS -> RC inbetween would make it any faster :P

If you use midnight stinger in Scythe with the shift + LMB, it triggers the cartian protection cooldown. If you do it with midnight stinger in hotkey...it do'esn't. Try it,, in scythe you can midnight stinger, S+C, violation if you use it from hotkey

We totally agree on that, it probably is, and it's only one more bug on our class, but the fact is that it works and it can sometimes be useful :)
