I could example play wow daily 3 hour and sub today. And I could get in 2 month Gladiator or Kill mythic bosses. If I have skills for it I can beat people who have played it years.

But let's say I start bdo now and play 3 hour daily. I don't think I will ever get invitation to decent gvg guild. Maybe after 1-year playing? I can't also farm properly because I'll get pk'd and I don't have gear to fight back. Basically this game is supposed to be pvp game but you spend 99.9% time doing pve just to catch up people to compete with gear and level factor first.

Unfortunally I just started out now too so I missed xp event too. I wish new players could get some catch up mechanics. I'm defienetly not going to invest cash wise if I spend time running around crippled and can't use any gaming skills like combat//knowledge to compensate it.

60% don't play the game (maybe bored of being active) or rather they just afk ingame (Life skilling) cuz sims doesn't have multiplayer.

20% are new people 3-4 months and still discover the game or found out if its actually worth or just add to that 60%

10% hardcore competitive players

5% nolifers forcing themselfs to keep playing the game

5% confused.

Sums is up.

not really. most ppl end up afking

There are other things you can do to make money. Feel free to PM me in game if you're on NA.

PvE = casual and hardcore

"Normal" pvp = both

Competitive/high end pvp/sieged = hardcore, very very lucky ones and those who aren't hardcore but are dedicated enough.

And don't worry almost every patch has an catch up event.

Are those like servers?

Is there restriction in servers? This is old account btw but I haven't played any yet and my highest is lvl30. I remember there used to be 3 different realms but seems like they merged them together?

No clue about WoW.

There are close to none PK problems. Some ppl constantly complain about it on the forums yet somehow they seem to be the only ones to whom it happens...

BDO is not supposed to be a PvP game - it's purely optional.

There ARE catch up mechanics implemented - they've made leveling up and accumulating silver way easier at lower levels.

You just started and complain of missing exp event?   There are 2 exp buffs daily, plus if I'm not mistaken there are 2 channels devoted to people who just started with massive exp buffs. These servers also accomodate people who have been away for 30+ days. You can literally be 55/56 in a matter of days.

I'm not sure if we're playing the same game.  I farm in popular areas and being pk'd has been a very minimal problem. There's a bigger problem with asshats killing you whilst AFK than when you're active.

They merged the servers but the amount of channels are the combination of all servers so it's the same (but better economy).

Oh that daily is nice help to catch up. Is it for all levels though and is there diminishing returns for xp after 55? I hope there is

And who can go to that +xp server? Everyone?

Confused how it works.

?!?!  Am I missing something?  The first 4 channels in the server are noobie channels that have like a permanent %100-200 exp applied untill you hit 59 or something right?

Also, gear has a hardcap.  No one can progress past PEN (+20) gear, like 90% of the player base will never even see a PEN.  Anyway, that being said, eventually you will catch up, there is no gear treadmill in the game.

Yeah P.A should make it easier for new players to catch up. Id say give a reward bundle after playing 7 days that contains full tet bis gear and an exp scroll that makes your char lvl 60.

That way you can be on par with the rest of the server thats playing for close to 1 year.

its not for HC only if anything its for casuals.. When you can get your character to a competitive state while doing afk activties and collecting on daily rewards imo thats pretty darn casual.

at the upper tier of pvp this game is extremly punishing. Ever watch a youtube video of some blowing up a duo ogre ring trying to goto tri..  Poof 1billion silver gone just like that.

tbh i see no point in starting the game now if you only have a few hours each day to play. you will basically never be able to even be considered decently strong by anyone who has been playing consistently since the beginning. you've missed too many OP as ----- events, pets, ect. you could spend 24 hours per day playing and still not catch all of the time-sensitive events you want.... things like field bosses, night-time grinds, the daily life skill/exp/cp quests in every corner of the world, burn through all your alts energy on gathering, ect ect ect. thats my biggest problem with this game - the amount of time and effort it takes each and every day to be a non-pleb.

The Olvia channels have a permanent XP buff and only new accounts or players that have not logged in in over 30 days can access them.  You can stay there for 30 days or until you reach level 60.

If you only have 3 hours to play per day, then using your daily XP buff on top of the xp buff tea, for example, would give you a good chunk of leveling.  You'll always get the additional % of XP based on what you are killing, so if you are killing mobs appropriate to your level, it will go fast.  If you kill grass beetles in Olvia, not so much.

The map now has suggested levels for different areas (if you turn that filter on), so just keep an eye on those and kill pink/red/dark red mobs at least until you get to Mediah.

Also, there are a number of GvG guilds that would take new players. Just keep an eye on zone, check who owns which nodes and contact them.  Worst case scenario is you leave and find a different guild.

DESIGNED for?  Yes.

Can non Hardcore people play it too?  Yes, as long as you realize that you won't be the top tier player on the server without playing it excessively.  Go into it with that mentality, enjoy the game for what it is, and you will have an enjoyable time.

If you are New / Returning than join the Olivia channels.

You mean like EXP events? Giving away boss gear? Specific EXP channels?

Yeh, I wish the game had these...

If you only have a few hours a day to play BDO I'd suggest a looking into a different game. KMMOs are time consuming and water is wet.

You can have a lot of fun even if you dont play 3 hours a day. But it seems you may be focused on compeition, which BDO is terribad at for a variety of reasons.

Can you play 3 hours a day, end up with solid gear and experience most of BDO? Yep.

Even if you play 12 hours a day, good chance your luck would be so bad you wouldn't have top gear anyway.

This game is supposed to be pvp? what made you think that? pvp is so unbalanced and bugged, this game is all about enhancing, you do everything to enhance more, so you can one shot people (and I don't consider that as pvp) as a result you have to spend all your time to this game, if you don't have time it will take much much longer, with 3 hour daily? you can get to a decent point not less than 6monts-1 year, i say it is impossible, and don't think that you can just do life skills and buy items from marketplace, since there is rng also in marketplace, highly contested items will get lost from the market place in an instance randomly, and you will have to wait forever.

Be hc does not matter in this game. It is all about RNG and your hidden luck stat.

you didn't distinguish between Lifeskiller and PVP'er.   For crafters, this game is definitely casual AF with a ton of great Quality of Life features so remaining mostly AFK is one of the more ideal ways to play it.  IE:  you can run it in the background while Overwatching or PornHUBing

For PvP .... this game isn't MADE for real PvP'ers.  If you want to be a real PvP'er, go play BnS, or Dota2, or CSGO, RB6Seige, or Skullgirls, or ANYTHING else that the designers of it actually understand what ABSTRACT balancing & a Skill index is because this POS game is  only a pure vertical-stats Ganking Simulator for the ppl like SosukeAizen who've been here since day one and have an AP score of like 230
