I just wanted to know what people thoughts are on this as I've seen allot of people for and against it. Just wanted to get a general consensus.

I dunno, I felt that was covered in the "less RNG" option; if you don't lose your gains, then that's less randomness that you have to deal with getting them back. But I suppose being more specific about it would be good.

What would happen without RNG? Everyone can get PEN Gear easy and fast and people get bored. These RNG mechanic isnt my best friend (I really hate it), but its content and is the reason we still have goals in the game.

Exactly. The worst part here is when you lose durability and downgrade your gear or lose your accessory. I would get rid of the downgrade/item destruction and maybe change a bit the RNG part to balance it without item destruction and done.

Problem with that is everyone can go PEN like that as well. If I had nothing to lose besides durability I'd have PEN everything already because there is no risk in smashing stuff together.

The fact that BDO still hasn't given a way to make a player successful by just playing the game is horrible service and means they aren't really listening. The whole enhancement system is crap and just got worse when +20 got introduced. 

We have so many options in this game that could promote actual grouping, working together, and building up; instead we get HA he failed TET or LOL PEN gone in channel shout. It's really sad.

I heard you liked RNG, so i gave you some RNG with RNG.

-quest
-bosses
-crafting
-guild
-nodes
-dungeons

so many other options that they could provide us...but no.

wrong. and for you to understand that you first have to understand that this game was originally intended to be a FREE TO PLAY, PAY TO WIN business model. the best way to appeal to a casual pay 2 win crowd was to use the RNG method. it keeps people addicted and interested, much like how casinos and gambling in general gets people to continue participating. people get excited when they "win" a "jackpot" (finally enhancing their item) so much, that they tend to forget the amount of failures they endured and go back to paying real $ to afford more chances at "winning" another "jackpot". it's a much more casual friendly system that caters to the original F2P P2W model this game was intended for. 

if they had it so that there was no, or less RNG involved it could be something like if you acquire 1500 weapon stones you can take your item from DUO to TRI without the chance of failure. 

personally I like RNG in rpg games, but the amount of RNG this game has is a bit over the top. my preferred system would be a revamp of the enhancement system.

i would prefer it if each item had it's own individual fail stack for each enhancement and a "memory" system so to say.

example: my PRI: Kzarka longsword would have a DUO failstack of 29 and TRI failstack of 18
because i failed DUO enough times to reach a 29 stack and failed TRI enough times to reach 18
these would be seperate from each other and would never reset. they would also never cap. this ensures that with enough time and effort a person will inevitably successfully enhance their gear. it also removes the NEED  to make multiple characters to get failstacks, and the NEED to have at least 1 red character that can take a 15 item and let a guard kill them over and over until their blackstone pops out for another failstack attempt. the current system is honestly just bad design.

Never heared about themepark MMO's without RNG? Never heard about people quitting because they reached their goals (like clearing every instance & getting BIS gear, just standing in a capital city afk posing)? Lucky you :)

The right questions would be, how long is it "acceptable" having to aim for bis-gear? How long should an average active player having to work towards competitively viable gear. Is it "ok" that a games only main end content since more than 2 years is praying on rng enhancing?

There are no mmo's without rng, just less of it, or simply "fairer". but if you really want to compare to those games, they actually last quiet long and have players staying there for years, because they keep adding new "themepark" things to do, they keep bringing new content (debatable if recycling old content should be considered as new or not, but thats not the point here), unlike bdo where people are actually quitting due to lack of content and/or exactly because of this shitty rng enhancement system (its main content).

This is actually the best for new and old players. If there is no RNG or there is a system that says "collect xxx" to upgrade then someone that has no life will be max gear in no time and get bored. This also means since nothing is destroyed that the market is over flooded. You would have to lower drop rates --> less on market --> higher price --> gg new players.

I submitted "Removed altogether", as to me, the biggest A#1 problem is that a slight increase in gear score, ASTRONOMICALLY impacts game play.

The RNG of course is problem #2, and while not as big to me as the gear difference, it is quite large.

The above said, if the current enhancement system did not ASTRONOMICALLY offset game play, the RNG would not be as big a factor, but let's face it, someone with 364 DP is going ROFLSTOMP someone with 264 with the current enhancement mechanics.

it's fun to succeed with rng, that's cool. but homes... losing a TRI is not cool.

Afaik you still can downgrade with cron stone unless PA changed it.

There may be a low chance for it yes (never happened to me but I don't use them that much). But it's still basically everything you asked for.

pretty damn high chance IMO. i've used lots and lots of cron stones on accessories and armors. seems like the degrade is at least 20% chance

Systems that require "failstacks" doesn't seem to be good.  And repairing the item with the same item doesn't make sense either.  Both systems need to be reworked.

I think it's fine for armor and weapons.

But accessories are way to depressing. They should have more mechanics similar to weapon and armor upgrades imo. Like if you fail to upgrade a jewellery piece to DUO for example, it looses durability and drops one enchant level, but wont blow up. Something like that would be great.

Will never happen though, I'm 100% sure of it lol. They wont implement any changes that makes upgrading accessories more forgiving, even if 75% of the NA/EU population screams for it. More likely that they add some new layer of rng to it, creating even more frustration xD

it's pretty clear by reading any third party MMORPG review sites.  BDO gets Excellent reviews like 9/10 etc.  but there is universally two complaints.

1. RNG gear upgrading system is shit.

2. Instanced PvE dungeons would be a great addition.
