Farming questions from a noob [Life-skill]

Hey everyone!

I've spent the last couple hours researching possible ways to make money aside from grinding and a lot of people have suggested farming is a decent way to make money. I just started playing the game again after like a 7 month hiatus, so I've pretty much forgotten everything about the game and I didn't know too much to begin with.

So I've never really farmed before and just have a couple questions for you farmers:

1. Is farming still a decent way to make money while semi-afk? I don't have a lot of time in one sitting to dedicate to the game, but I am able to come back to the game here and there to tend adjust things in game.

2. A lot of people suggest growing sunflowers and strawberries, are theses still the ideal crops to grow?

3. How often do I need to tend to my farm? I hear that pruning/debuging is a good way (if you're lucky) to get money because of the chance to drop hard/sharps. But how often do I need to be pruning/debuging, and if I leave the farm unattended for too long, is there any negative effects?

I don't expect to make an absurd amount of money from farming, but combined with afk-fishing I'm hoping to find a semi-afk activity that could potentially net me at least 100m a week. I'm not sure if that much is realistic and I don't expect to make that much right off the bat, but that's just my hope! Anyways, if anyone could help me out or give me any advice, it would be much appreciated :)

Have a good day!

I tried farming, I didn't really like it. While yes, you can AFK do it, the crops still require a fair bit of attention. I think calpheon wood crates is the most popular AFK way to make money. If you get the processing outfit, it makes it very easy. It can take some time to get the required contribution, and good workers, but I hate grinding and selling the crates has afforded me the opportunity to buy 5 and enchant up to tri 5 pieces of boss gear. It isn't fast, but it is reliable.

Farming > Timber Crates imo.

With farming you can have 4 workers working all day long on Crates, Sunflower Crate being worth 15k? if I remember correctly and you only need to visit your farm every ~5 hours and also got a chance at Shards.

With Timber crates you need to afk chop wood all day long to be able to have 4 workers that turn them into Crates each worth 55k? and cant really play the game anymore. Also you will have to buy logs from the market because you wont be able to get enough wood from the nodes.

Farming + Steel/Brass Crates is pretty good passive money imo.

Will my crops die if I can't visit them within 5 hours?

Yeah my only problem with the calpheon crate method is the processing of it. I hear that you need to process ALOT of timber every day and its only really effect if you have the maid outfit + a shit ton of weight capacity. I also am not a master 2 trader, and with all the nerfs I hear they made to trading it is even harder now to get it. Also, I feel like since processing is mostly done afking, I can instead replace that with fishing. Although I know that afk fishing wouldn't make nearly as much, I feel like its a better life skill to have down the road

No they wont die or anything, you dont even need to prune them if you dont want to. Just visit them every 4-6 hours to harvest and make some crates. Its less money than Calpheon Timber but you dont need to afk process overnight/all day but can actually play the game. Harvest them when they are anywhere between 100-160%, if its more than that and the yield will decrease afaik.

Awesome thanks so much for the information :D!

Yeah I expected it to be less than the Calpheon Timber, but it seems like such huge chore with the amount of time I would need to keep going back to the computer to swap out different things to process. I'm glad with the farming I wouldn't need to do anything, until 6 hours in. I really enjoy fishing too, so I want to fit in afk fishing to slowly increase my level. If you don't mind me asking though, about how much are you making per week with sunflowers? And are sunflowers the best crop or should I add in strawberries to sell on the market as well?

I have a few questions anout this method.

1. Do you need master2 trading to make enough profit to make it worth?

2. With calpheon crates I should craft thrm in Epheria, transport with warehouse to ancado and thrn sell it in Valencia (master2). With sunflowers is it the same or should I transport manually/sell it in another city?

3. What about vanadium crates? They require less time to process.

4. Are brass ingot crates worth? Because you need to process 3 times but each "tick" between processes are slower than processing wood.

5. If I can't afk overnight and I only afk while I'm eating/shower/etc would you recomend another method or farming is the most viable one?

6. Do I need 10x10 farming spots where  half of them are to gather seeds or shiuld I buy seeds from marketplace?

7. How much can you do selling sunflower crates according to #2?

Thank you in advance and sorry fir kipnapping thr thread ;(

I have a few questions anout this method.

1. Do you need master2 trading to make enough profit to make it worth? No, it's profitable without the buff.

2. With calpheon crates I should craft thrm in Epheria, transport with warehouse to ancado and thrn sell it in Valencia (master2). With sunflowers is it the same or should I transport manually/sell it in another city? Without the desert buff, sell in Ancadu or Arehaza if possible; do the same with sunflowers.

3. What about vanadium crates? They require less time to process. Vanadium is god to make in Valencia to ship back to Epheria - otherwise you need to keep shipping money to Epheria to pay for the transport costs.

4. Are brass ingot crates worth? Because you need to process 3 times but each "tick" between processes are slower than processing wood. Brass are excellent: lots of processing xp and good profit. Bronze is nearly as good.

5. If I can't afk overnight and I only afk while I'm eating/shower/etc would you recomend another method or farming is the most viable one? When making veggie boxes (such as sunflower), most of the processing is done by workers. Get a good goblin worker, and even if no afk, you'll make lots of boxes.

6. Do I need 10x10 farming spots where  half of them are to gather seeds or shiuld I buy seeds from marketplace? Don't buy seeds, you'll eat your profit. You don't need 10x10 - even 1x10 will be a good start. I make 100+ sunflower boxes per week: I've only got 5 sunflower seeds planted.

7. How much can you do selling sunflower crates according to #2? Check Famme's calculator: http://www.somethinglovely.net/bdo/crates/

Thank you in advance and sorry fir kipnapping thr thread ;(
