ADVICE FOR A NOOB

6 posts in this topic

Posted (edited)

Hey everyone,

I have been struggling with finding an mmo recently and my friend suggested I give BDO another shot. I stopped playing a bit after release due to my internet being too slow. I moved and now that I can have a better internet connection, I'm looking to start BDO back up.

That being said, I was only able to experience the game a little bit when it was first released. I've been trying to do some research on classes to play and I'm struggling to pick one. I only played up to level 15 on a valk and a witch. I enjoyed both but I have yet to experience all the classes.

I'm mainly focused on PVE and I'm wanting a class that will keep me excited to continue playing. I'm not a noob to MMO's but I am a noob to sandbox MMO's so I'm hoping I can get your opinion on some classes that are fun to play. Please feel free to comment! <3 And any advice on playing the game again. Thanks.

Advice for a noob? Take the forums with a grain of salt. Lots of angsty trolls around here.

Everyone has their own preferences on what gets them excited. What type of character to you like to play? What characteristics are fun to you? What's fun to me isn't necessarily going to be fun for you. One of the best things you can do is hit up youtube and watch lots of videos. Try to watch awakened gameplay videos because over 99% of your gameplay will be 56+ if you stick around.

Now que the posts telling you that you have to play Zerker, Warrior, Witch, or Wizard or else you'll never be happy. 9_9

Personally, I think witch and wizard are too boring in terms of gameplay and combos. However, witch and wizard are one of the best (might even be the best) classes to play in the beginning due to grinding xp, money, gear etc. When BDO first started out, people played classes for grinding, and when reaching a certain point, they switch to their "main class". Since you are new, I would recommend to do that as well, but if you don't want to rush, then pick a class that you find interesting. You might want to check out each class' gameplay on Youtube, just to see how they are going to be played when reaching awakening.

On a different note, you can just continue on your witch or valk, then go main BDO's newest class in march, the Dark Knight. Imo, DK looks like a lot of fun and gameplay is totally different from the classes that are in-game now. Also, some classes are harder to play than others, but if you are going for PvE mostly, then witch/wizard is a good choice since it's an easy class and lots of AoE skills.

PS. I started out with ranger. It was a challenge in pve low level, but end-game makes me grind too fast ;)

Without some more info, I will say that all classes are complex and will keep you interested as long as you like how the class looks. Watch the classes trailers (and their awakening trailers) on youtube and choose what calls your attention the most. All classes can perform in PVE, but best PVE class is probably witch/wizard due to the very powerful ranged AOEs, healing, CC, teleport... I have never used Valkyre in depth, but most players are not happy with valkyre because it takes extreme skill to do anything worthy beyond PVE.
