Does kaokao reduce or change definition of channel crowded?

Basically as the topic title, DK has been release for a week and there isn't any events time either. How is it possible that every single channel is Crowded? I mean before DK release , we have like maybe 3,4 channel is crowded at max ( I don't count newbie channel).

I'm asking this because I purposely avoid crowded channel when I play game so I get less lag

no, there is just a massive influx of players right now because of dark knight and lack of content from any other current mmos at the moment

I think it's possible they reduced it.  But at the same time there's definitely more people playing right now for sure.

That's what I'm wondering about. Sure release DK bring more players but even the week that BDO got release , our channel never crowded that much. This picture is took 2 hours ago which is 5 days after DK already release. There is no -----ing special events right now as well.

It's like the old sausan days. Need to group up and control an area with your guild.

I don't think they reduced it for several months. they announced a change to this nearly 10 months ago. And not since. I actually think its just because of recent changes that have driven the population back for a time. I expect it to decline again in the next month or so.

It's not just DK release, they are having an account package sale also.  DK's release brought returning players, while account package sales brought in new players.  Oh and Black Desert Online is advertising on mmorpg.com.  So add them all together, it's quite possible the game is getting an influx of players both new & old.

This isn't to say they didn't tweak the population display settings, it's the oldest trick in the book.  But anybody playing BDO right now can definitely see an increased ingame population.  Heck the lag levels have increased, field bosses are dropping faster, and some people couldn't even enter an Olvia channel due to it being too crowded.

I came back a week ago, and had no idea about the DK before I was ingame again.

Came back because I like the lifeskills, horses, PvP and afk-empire-making, and figured I'll see if my playstyle can make me catch up the the average player in a reasonable time. So far so good.

It's really strange. Since last patch the channels turned suddenly to crowded, in the middle of the week on a wednesday. Somehow I doubt that the population has doubled or tripled on a normal weekday.

In any case, the lag has significantly increased especially in the peak times, had no problems before at all. Now on weekends, e.g. 2-3 seconds lag between cooking (instead of almost 0).

I hope they didn't downgrade their servers :D

Good thing tho.

Pretty sure they reduced it, like i can understand that there are more people coz of DK but you don't get to attract so much more people in such a few time (except when there is sex included maybe)

You can delude yourself guys that we got big number of active players in BDO, but you got answer straight on website... From 1 year infographic we know that number of chars above lvl 56 is about 90k for both servers... Ofc small part of players dont have any lvl 56+ char, but a lot more have mutliple lvl 56... And we dont know if that include inactive accounts with lvl 56 or not... We can safely assume that number of active players on both servers is 50k max on both servers separately... Well that number is enough to safely run both servers for long time and BDO should be ok, but it place us on market as average MMO at best... We dont have small population, but we dont have big too, just average, one of thousand other titles on market... And it something that next gen MMO shouldnt aim for!! Considering that over million of game copies were sold number of active players we have now is pathethic... If nothing will be done we will end up as average, same as BDO on KR...

And I believe that change was that they increased the number of players that had to be in a channel for it to be "crowded" or "overrun", no?

Although they could have changed it again with the server merge, who knows?

That is a good point, no idea.

I do know I saw  DK everywhere. Some where even questing instead of grinding, go figure. Definitely lots of people on over the weekend.

Three things most likely

1) Dark Knight release: (2H Sword, Female Elf) This is a fantasy trope for "badass" Elves other than Ranger types. People were waiting for it. Also its called "Dark Knight", emo central lol

2) Game sales: Game was being sold for cheap

3) Olvia Server Exodus: The people who were able to play on the Olvia server can no longer log into that channel, so they all have to play on the channels that we all have been on for a long time.

Well i can answer a bit on this Topic.

Many players are returning, due to new class and so on but also for attendence rewards that new players are getting.

I started a month ago again and been active on it since that, so has many more people and thus leading to it looking like this.

I had actually wondered this myself.  One day someone posted a forum topic jokingly saying BDO was dead, with a screenshot of like 40%-50% of the channels showing crowded. Then a patch goes and suddenly EVERY channel is crowded.

My first thought was "Shenanigans"

My first tought was "Fck DK release events. I won't be able to have decent fps in any big city."

I play on Olvia server and it's getting ridiulous. Any peak time Calpheon city is lag fest with 10 fps same as Heidel, weekends are even worst. Sausans are never empty nor at 2 am or 4 am or 6 am. Valencia is ghost town tho. Mediah is crowded hard. So the crowded or overrun status of server is not fake. It's really that bad.
