Year 2 Mega Horse Breeding Thread

Given that BDO has new forums, are we (the horse breeding community) going to be migrating to them or are we going to keep posting here?  Because I've been horse breeding for a while (several months) and would really like to join the try-hards of this community.  (I meant try-hard as a compliment, seeing as most of us who really love horse breeding in BDO go so far as to make and keep spreadsheets of every detail to help create a wealth of data to better understand how the breeding system works).  I've spent many hours combing through all 111 pages of this thread and am ready to start contributing what I can.

http://forum.blackdesertonline.com/index.php?/topic/46803-horse-breeding-findings-megathread/&page=1119 here, have 1119 more just for fun while you wait for reply. :D (you will be able to post on these forums (existing topics) only for a few days/ weeks from now)

I moved to the new forum because I don't know how to find this one anymore!  I had to do a google search....

Small update - likely won't be playing for quite a while. We are setting up elsewhere and almost all of my free time will be going toward maintaining and running the shop. I still have a ton of extra data to go through, and sort out in terms of averages - but I will leave with this:

Despite several changes, these are what I came across in all of my data comparisons for Grades 15-18 (I don't have what I would consider a respectable sample size of Grade 19 breedings, so I am leaving them out altogether in this post. These are my numbers after I compiled all of my previous results together and dropped Grade 19 altogether.

T5 has a proposed 18% average percentage from Grades in this range capable of a Tier 5 Foal (15 and 16). Field data shows these numbers at 10% out of 240 breedings capable of producing a Tier 5. While field data shows that this average is below the proposed, Grade 15 breedings did yield twice the amount of Tier 5 horses than Grade 16, which falls exactly in line with the proposed breeding grade ratios (Grade 15 has double the chance to produce Tier 5 than Grade 16 does). Grade 15 produced 16 Tier 5 foals, Grade 16 produced 8.

T6 has a proposed 42% average percentage across 15-18. Field data shows these numbers at 66.666%, more than 50% higher than the projected with 248 breedings out of 372 capable of producing a T6 horse.

T7 has a proposed 40% average percentage for breeding across 15-18. Field data shows these numbers are much lower, worryingly so at 22.580% with 84 breedings producing a T7 foal out of 372 capable. These numbers are almost half of what the proposed should be.

T8 has a proposed 18% average percentage for breeding across 17 & 18, since 17, 18, and 19 are the only tiers capable of producing T8. Field data shows these numbers at 12.121%, with 16 attempts producing T8 foals out of 132 breeding.

NOTE - I understand the field data percentages do not add up correctly and this is intentional, as I only weighed the averages against the breeding grades capable of producing, and since not ever grade can produce T5 or T8, I had to adjust my numbers accordingly so that their percentages were not calculated incorrectly.

As with a lot of my other posts, some of the numbers have shifted a little bit, but overall the trend remains largely the same. T6 is much higher than the proposed by roughly 50% so don't think you're cursed if you are getting more T6s as normal...everyone is.

T7s are much lower across the board by more than 50% of the proposed.

T8s (where initially it looked like they were being produced more regularly) do look like their overall percentage has gone down as well by, you guessed it, roughly 50% of the proposed.

TL;DR - Field data shows T6 breedings are occurring more than 50% of their proposed from breeding attempts that can yield T6s. T7s and T8s are down 50% from their proposed rate from breeding attempts that can yield T7 and T8s. =(

I highly doubt that's coincidental considering the large sample gathered.

I hope to see you all again when I have time, though I don't know when that will be. I hope my information and work has been helpful, and I thank everyone that submitted their data for compilation and tracking to me. Even if it was a bit silly perhaps, if you did not find my postings informative, maybe you at least found them interesting.

Hail Horsdra and I wish you all best of luck, health, and good breeding!

Oh my gosh, look what I missed because I couldn't find the forum anymore.....well, best of luck and hope to see you around again soon.  Thanks for all your work with the data!

So I don't have pictures or anything, but I just wanted to share:

Yesterday I had 4 horses leveled up and ready for breeding.

The first set were just a couple of T3's.  Superfluous in comparison to some of the veterans here, but if there's anyone out there still collecting data from all levels, here are the results of that enterprise: Two Level 22 T3C's (two breeds + exchange) got me one T4N Female, one T5E Female and one T5E Male.

Bred the T3's that morning.  That night, I bred my T4's.  Parents were a level 25 T4H Male and level 25 T4O Female.  Two breeds + exchange got me TWO T6's (T6P Female, T6N Female) and one T5O Female.  I've already got about 4 T6 males in my stables (been a complete T6 sausage fest for a while) but now I've got a couple T6 females to start breeding.  T7 feels so close!  *crosses fingers*  I'm excited to finally be breeding the upper echelons of horses.  It's been a long road (several months, as most of you know) but I have to say, it's surprisingly enjoyable to follow this life skill.  Not sure why.

Congrats, with some luck that T6N can turn out to be a nice horse.

So basically my luck is still good shitty lol, so my breeding results from 1 T5J (Male) 26 x 2 T4F (Female) 28:

T5J 26 (Male) X 1.T4F (Female) 28 = T6T (Male) - Named Hope as i was hoping it would be a female, so it's a gay horse tho

T5J 26 (Male) X 2.T4F (Female) 28 = T6I (Female) - Named YeahBaby since i got an orgasm while seeing that Female Gender

Exchange : T5J 26 (Male) X 1.T4F (Female) 28 = T6L - Named PleaseHope, but turns out it's the gay brother of Hope

So GG RNG T....T now hopefully this T6I Female gives me Female, cuz i got T6 ready for her, gonna even try exchange hoping for a T7 or T8 maybe

Hello guys!
I got an urgent question regarding mount leveling and skillls gaining; I returned to BDO after 3 months break and what I have noticed is that my mount does not gain skills during leveling, it is tier lvl 7 and lvl 25 at the moment and only got 9 skills loooool (used to mounts with such lvl and tier got about 13-15 skills).
So my question is, was mount's leveling system and skills gain nerfed?- or I just got a BIG BAD LUCK this time? :(
Is there any thread about this topic on the forum, was looking for one, couldn't find.
Also I have noticed more pay to win items according to horses in item shop (such as branding horse- to gain more skills lol, and skill reset items), do developers try to make it the worst pay to win aspect of the game?
There are also no mounts on horse market, what is going on?

Thx for any information.

The rumor is that since the hype around courser/T9 started skills got nerfed. They say pre, a horse would get 14 skills, now only 12 for example.
So yes it could be, but hard to tell with no evidence.

No mounts --> T9 incoming --> T4/5 released in the wild.

It's pretty RNG, but you should take a look at this thread where people have posted stats of lvl 30 T8's.

http://forum.blackdesertonline.com/index.php?/topic/109407-your-t8-horses-stats-at-lv-30/

I don't understand PA/Kakao's design philosophy.  Let's make things super tedious to make/obtain/produce, slap tons of RNG on them, and make people nearly want to quit the game out of frustration.  Then, let's give everything out for free.  Wouldn't it be better game design to make things more accessible via playing the game, so more people actively play BDO, rather than just afk activity 20 hours a day and get things for free via attendance rewards.  Bleh.

Yes and No.

Yes more people would have fun...but after getting the UberUnobtainum Sword they would leave. On top of that BDO has to introduce new items every year.

Planned Obsolescence

@Dracico

To my knowledge the blackd.de calculator has not been kept up to date for a while.
somethinglovely.net is kept up to date - but read the disclaimer on it nonetheless :)

I'm a casual breeder and didn't realize .de had went out of date until I read your post and flipped back to the first page. Using .de I was targeting T3ML21 with T1FL30 but using .net changing that to T3ML26!

I casually level up my horses by riding them while I play across all my Alts. The first batch is now slowly getting into breeding range. The first pair to reach the needed levels were a level 29 tier 2 female and a level 30 tier 3 male. First breeding was a resounding success, tier 6 male, the max possible outcome. Reset the female, second breeding under way. Will see the result after work. Then I'm going to exchange the two for a third foal.

Ok, I am truly baffled now. The second breeding and the exchange both gave me tier 6 females. That should not even be possible according to all horse calculators.

Edit: Correction, it is possible, but the chance is just 13%.

I finally got my desired T8!!! so after leveling some T7 and T6 without any success, I breeded a T7D-F lvl 30 and T7J-M lvl 30. First foal was T8D-F, my first T8, second foal was a lame T6P-F and then I exchange them to obtain a T8B-F, my second T8!!

So far I have leveled up the T8D-F to lvl 12 and it has learned 7 skills, i guess its average or a little below, only good skill S: insta accel. Parents were quite good with 13 and 12 skills each, so i hope it will learn a lot more.

T8B-F was born with 2-seater and its still lvl 1, time will tell wich one is smarter but I hope T8D is, becouse I like her so much more

EDIT: Out of my last 8 breeds, 6 have been females, range T6-T8 and only 2 T7 males

Hey, I think my horse has been recovered from dying in Shakatu?

How do I retrieve the horse as Shakatu appears to be a villa in Valencia...

Thanks for any help.

Shakatu is a small town like Glish/Keplan - you just go to the stable keeper and recover your mount there.

Circled is Shakatu

lvl 12 and 7 skills is quite good; thats 1 skill every 1.7142 and at that rate you should end up with 17-18 skills.

beware some horses get lazy and become potatoes late on even if they were geniuses at early lvls.
