Weapon repair balance discussion and polls

So this is something that I've noticed while hopping from character to character trying to decide on a main. I have leveled up a Warrior, Witch, Wizard, Maehwa, and Kunoichi thus far to the 57-58 level range. Some awakened classes can grind far longer between repairs than others. I'd like to get an idea from all of you how long you can spend grinding with non-branded weapons (costumes are fine) before you need to repair your weapons.

Just for reference, on my Wizard/Witch I could grind at Gahaz for roughly 3 hours before needing weapon repairs, while my Kunoichi is the worst of all my characters breaking her weapons in only 50 minutes of grinding at Gahaz. The warrior and Maehwa fell inbetween.

There's not really an efficient way to make a poll for this, but I thought to create a poll for each class.

Please only answer these if you have an awakened character of the below classes. If your items are branded, half the time you need between repairs. DK is not included because they do not have an awakening yet.

Pearl shop brand. It reduces durability consumption by 50%.

No. Those are only 10%. Look at the pearl shop under function.

Ok well like I said, it is called a "brand" and reduces durability consumption of an item by 50%. Really not any more to explain than that.

If I were to wild-stab-in-the-dark a reason, I'd guess it's down to how they hit.

Durability is consumed "on use", so if a kunoichi hits 50 times in 3 seconds to kill something, and a wizard drops 2 nukes to do the same, the wizard has hit 48 less times. So 48 less shots at losing durability.
(Numbers completely plucked out of the air, don't read to much into that)

I have definitely noticed this with the awakenings I've tried.

Yeah that's likely. Def takes more attacks to kill on kuno than on wizard.

the only upside to having slow, long cast animations instead of fast 10-buttons per second combos.

if my weapons were branded (only my offhand is so far), i could farm probably around 8-10h on my wiz before repairing, if my armor wouldn't break long before that.

For rangers you need a 30-45 minute option. Branded awakening weapon I can do a max of 1.5 hours at Gahaz.

Yes I totally agree you need like 30-45 minutes option for Ranger. For some weird reason , I break my weapon super fast for ranger. Witch/wiz and ranger are like two opposite end of the spectrum. I could farm as long as 3-4 hours on witch and as fast as 30 minutes on ranger.

^ like those two said.

Ranger eats up her durability like nothing else. Havent played all the classes, but im 99% sure ranger durability is the worst.

I used to main Kunoichi and i could farm for like 35-50 mins before i would have to repair and my Wiz friend could grind for hours before needing to go back to repair, so i roll a Witch and well Witch can grind hours before repairing. So i look at the skills because i heard the same excuse before but funny thing Witch/Wiz skill do have multiple hit just like the Kunoichi so that was just an urban legend, Witch spell goes from like 8-15 hits per skills.

I am trying to find a real reason but i think its just some bad programming from Kakao and nothing else, and they need to get their shit together because it make some class subpar to farming if you need to repair in less then an hour and some other can go for hours without repair. Kunoichi cant really farm anywhere that is more then like 2 mins away from a blacksmith to be anywhere close to most other class to farm anything. As for Ranger i dont know mine is 56 and i still didnt get myself to finish the awakening quest :P

My Kunoichi is 58 with 193/187/255 and my Witch is 57 with 141/191/255 and my Witch clear atleast twice as fast as my Kunoichi and lost atleast 4 times less durability then the Kunoichi.

my offhand and awakening weapon both break at about the 1hr mark when leveling on my 58 zerker. branded weapons + p2w items out the wazoo. very annoying.

I am not sure about the exact time it take, but on my warrior while grinding pirates the other night every 1.5 hours I had to repair. Strangely it was because of my Shield, I spent 0 time switching in and out of awakened yet my Duo: Ultimate Vangertz Shield broke completely with everything else sitting at 60% durability. And before I get these questions, all items have their max durability fully restored.

Interesting poll results. There are a few outliers from the expected trolls, but overall the picture is pretty clear that a few classes suffer badly with average repair times in the 45m-1h range, several others enjoy repair times averaging over 3 hours, and most other classes fall in the middle.

@CM_Aethon @CM_Serenity @CM_Tytyes @CM_Oli would any of you be willing to give us some info on what determines weapon durability consumption? It would also be good to know if you guys have considered making adjustments to certain classes that wear down weapon durability much faster than others. This creates a rather significant disadvantage when grinding in places far from a blacksmith. Even at Gahaz with a blacksmith pretty close by, I lose my rotation almost every time I make a weapon repair trip.

so far i notice on my ranger if i just use w+f spam my offhand breaks faster then my dande , if i use all my skills (natures tremble , regeneration , elven rage , etc)my dande breaks faster then my offhand. (Pirates vs aakman)  so my guess is certain skills use your offhand more then other skills

We this is a good problem to discuss.

I'm Tamer and have two friends playing with.

Most of the time we grind together.

My Kunochi friend can NOT grind over 1 hour (without brand weapons), her weapon durability just drops so fast.

I can grind about 90 mins and my sub-weapon will become 0% durability  (without brand weapons).

My Witch friend... this is just too ridiculous!!! After we repaired about 4 ~ 5 times, weapons of witch JUST GET STARTED become red!!!

We assume the durability drop rate is depend on your skill hit times.

Kunochi have many high-hits skills, maybe that's how this problem happen.

That wouldn't explain it - ask your witch friend how many times the skills hit. Many are 9-12x, just as much as kuno more in some cases. Witch definitely casts less total abilities than Kuno though.

I'm going to go and say the difference is not from the amount of targets hit but the number of uses of the abilities. Witch and Wizard can nuke stuff down in very few skills (or casts) where as something that needs to chain combos to kill the same group of mobs 'uses' their weapons on more abilities thus higher dur damage. I feel it's not 1 skill hitting 8+ targets doing the most damage, it's the ability you need to spam 8 times to get the same 8 mobs dead that takes the higher dur loss.

For the record for me as a sorc, it's roughly 2 hours however my scythe isn't currently fully repaired (just noticed that now after reading this thread...how can that of slipped my mind I have nfi)

Just between my warrior and ninja, with similar primary awkaened blue, both at 35 durabiltiy (im a poor bastard) my ninja, has to repair almost twice as often, personally i think its rediculous. its roughly every 20 minutes, for me. the warrior gets about 40-45 minutes at my current clear speed.

i can definatly see myself spending the money on brand once i get to tri or higher. as well as a costume for an extra 10 % reduction
