1080 ti 4k?

52 posts in this topic

Posted (edited)

Hey guys, today I kind of impulse bought a 1080 ti,   I have a 1070 atm I will sell to a friend.. given that I can run this game atm around 50 / 60 fps all maxed at 1440p   high end off.

This card is supposedly around the same performance of a titan x, but I cannot find any good bdo benchmarks about it, so can any of the owners of titan x  and maybe 1080 owners tell me what kind of fps they get and if they can run it at very high  -> high end off with 60 fps atleast?

edit :  cpu is a  6700k at 4.59 ghz

You probably won't notice any significant differences in framerate from your 1070 to your 1080 TI.

Edit* I went from GTX 980 to GTX 1080 at 2560x1600 and my framerate did not change all that much.  My game has less massive framerate drops in large scale stuff though.

Probably very true. I noticed very minimal difference between 1 gtx 1080 gaming x and 2 running in SLI. Noticed the biggest increases going from 3.6 GHz CPU to 4.8 GHz.

yea I understand that the cpu will also limited my fps  in cities and nodewars / bosses etc, but maybe I could just push to 4k instead of 1440p, since the cpu would still bottleneck it  at a certain fps  but I'd be able to turn up the resolution, so I was wondering if it was possible to run max / high end off on 4k  , got 4k screen that I have to set to  1440p or bdo will litteraly have black borders or limit my hz when I run game at 1440p while desktop is at 4k

My GTX 1060 can do ~30 fps in 3360x2100 (4x DSR) without highend mode, so a 1080 ti should be able to do this just fine

the game is bounded by cpu, gpu can only render what the game tells the cpu.

1070 is enough to render the game.

People buy a GPU for whatever they happen to play.... so yes... something wrong with that?  Most people buy a new GPU generation in general just to have the latest.

Unless you have a 4k screen it won't matter and you won't see a difference

This....but with a 4K Screen the game looks f.ucking awsome :) I have a 4K Monitor, with 2 x 1080 RoG Strix. On full 4K Resolution with everything on max, i get 30-40FPS. Some time more, some times less....4K is brutal for your computer, but very very worth it, belive me. The difference between 1080p to 4k is damn huge, couldnt belive it by my self.

My GTX1080 is getting between 30-45fps in towns/cities and between 60-90 in the countryside, running at 3440x1440

I can't go higher, I run at ultra high settings and medium textures, I don't get any noticeable difference in FPS wether soloing, node wars or grouping.

why are you using medium textures? I notice that geforce experience wants to do that setting too on my 1070  but both my old 390 and 1070 runs it just fine?   oh well in an hour of 2 my package should arrive :P

Not all chips are created equal.  Mine for instance wont clock above 4.6 without errors.

Lol how many dummies does it take to realize the fact that buying a 1080 for BDO a mmo won't actually do much, lmao, apparently an infinite amount is needed

It's actually extremly helpful if you are recording the game, because it has so many details and GPU encoder have a hard time to keep details. CPU encoding is a no no in BDO.

Recording in 4k, eventually interpolate it to 60 FPS and uploading it to youtube makes a huge difference compared to your standard 1080p recording

4 K on Black Desert is going to be hard. Cities will be next to impossible. Outside of cities. Its very doable.

The game is actually very easy to run. Except in cities. I dont think most games are as filled in with npcs, structures, horses, players etc.
