Daylight saving time - Node and Siege War times changing

35 posts in this topic

Posted (edited)

Greetings adventurers,

Daylight saving time will start for Europe on march 26th, following North America, where clocks have already changed.
To take this into account we will change the server time (UTC) at which node and siege wars take place during our 29th march maintenance.
Please check the timetable below, to see how it affects Node Wars during this period.

Node wars used to start at 7PM in my country, and now they will start at 6PM. Well, it's obvious BDO players don't have any jobs at all...

What's the point in starting node wars one hour earlier if we're not gonna leave our jobs one hour earlier too?

I mean if thats your argument people of all different professions start and end work at different times so just because it did fit into your schedule and now it doesn't means nothing as far as everyone else. Everything isn't about you :)

That being said is was because of the DST change which EU hasn't experienced yet. The time change sucks don't get me wrong... but obviously something made it easier for them to wait until EU also had their clocks adjusted to change both regions. Hopefully next year when this happens there is a process in place to adjust war times accordingly. I have a crazy idea, instead of whining how about we talk about options or ways that maybe this can be prevented in the future. :o  I hate whiners mememememememememe

I don't fully understand these complaints maybe I'm just stupid D: .... Node wars were at X time pre change. Daylight savings time for most EU and NA countries kicks in effectively changing War Times to Y. Decision is made to match X to Y. :x..... where are the actual changes to any of this if Node Wars are effectively at the same time as they were before DST hit D8?!

i.e. node wars before DST for me was 6pm, post DST 7pm, after changes planned on March 29 back to 6pm... Soooo does this magically make my new 6pm into the old 6pm which is now 5pm....?!? D8

Again people just complain before using brain.

When we change hours, nw will begin at 9pm because of that change. A few days later, we will have maintenance and this change, to make it back to 8pm.

Nothing to complain about.

*Forgot to add if you're in one of those other countries that doesn't use DST and complaining about the changes well.... chances are you're using a VPN to bypass region restrictions and well.... go play something else >:U. and if you aren't using a vpn and are just in a country that practices potato farming welp... Well, before this i did't agreed at all with this timelines, but i could manage. Now it's totally impossible for me to participate in node wars due to work time. And like me there's lot of friends too. Even young players whom are at School don't have time to be ingame at this event starts. That is a huge disavantage for mostly guilds.

If i buyed a game it is supposed to explore and have fun in all game's  aspects/parts right? If that's not possible my only option is to leave and invest somewhere else cose it useless invest time and money in building a good character which i cannot use in one of most importat pvp parts fo game: the node wars. Just because i'm working at that moment and game have "disajusted" timelines from reality (majority fo working comunity and school attendance players).

It's a pitty cose i had invested already 3.000hours playing this beattiful game (yeah i got the reward this week :) ). I understand my country 's location and timeline zones aren't the best, but if you put it 1h or 2h later surely wouldn't matter and if you ask it to the comunity, you would be surprised about the quantity of players with same opinion.

Bad for me, being west coast. I leave work at 5 PM. Node war now starts at 6 PM. You want to put it back to 5 PM.
I can't walk out of my office and drive home in 0 minutes guys.

Please, analyze your playerbase.

@CM_Praballo Can u explain me one doubt that i have? Will this mean a permanent change on Node Wars schedule or just that week where the clocks on europe changes?

My point about the changes is 50-60% of the working players have a rigid schedule( including myself), This schedule will be mostly between 8h-18h, after that u have like 1 hour to reach home, eat something, change clothes, and sit at pc to start playing.

Ur change if it is temporary (only that week) i do understand, but if it is a change to stick for the whole summer,  this will hurt alot of the worker community ( those that probably spend with consistency pearls into the game), because the clocks goes back 1 hour but my working shedule does not get affected by that.

I dont understand how maintaining the same timetable or even put it 1 hour later ( cause people have to do dinner and eat....) will hurt any of the other players that do not have such responsabilities?

I do think this would be a Win/Win situation for both parts.

I don't know what magical west coast you live on... but as of right now (me being on the west coast) Node Wars is currently 7pm due to the change in daylight savings. After this change node wars will go back to being 6pm as per usual.

Alaska

Current time in Alaska at the moment iiiiiiiiiiiiiiis 2:19... well... crap... that sucks :U... (currently 3:19 pst,) so does Alaska not follow DST at all then? I know it has a separate timezone than what we normally associate the "west coast" with in the U.S. (that being PST) but I didn't know that Alaska didn't follow DST completely so that's interesting. Would make sense though since I actual time with daylight is a bit wonky up there ye? :U with no actual DST that means you guys got pushed back 2 hours in which case I say.... well poop sorry but that sucks.

Well it's not just me, but there's plenty of people legit in west coast US, like Seattle, or Portland, or California, who have over 1 hour commute from work. They leave at 5 PM, and are still in traffic at 6 PM. They really need that extra hour to show up.

I mean, you have your average gamer dad, who works for a living and puts hard earned money into BDO, and every day he has to drive home through THIS:

Website-Traffic.jpg

Do we really want Steve the Dad to hurry up through this traffic and risk his life and leave his wife a widow and his children orphans over a node war?

That's cute.. but really, you should go research that bullshit before spewing it out.

Most jobs are 9 to 5. This will affect most players in a negative way and unlike you, he's not complaining because it will impact him. He is complaining because it will impact the majority of players for no reason. It's not like anything changes because of daylight saving time... Except you get one hour more sleep for one night.

Instead of being stupid, how about you in the future think a bit further than just yourself.
