Once upon a time there was a panda ...

There were a lot. Now I don't know, since I have chat filters. Either they stopped or the filters are working perfectly.
(I think they stopped)

They pop up in world chat from time to time. Of course they mostly go off seven day trial accounts or codes. I've got that chat filtered out of course cause hey, who wants to see it.

Yes and no

people can have gold sellers grind them silver and stuff, but the way this game is setup, if youre serious enough to buy silver, then youre serious enough to afk properly and earn as much silver for free

bikinipanda was the only one left...lol. Easy enough to block with the chat filter.

Pearl/Daum should be credited for this.

While it's a bit controversial they have been able to successfully deal with a serious problem.  Many of today's MMO's are completely corrupt with hacks/dupes/botting/gold sellers and BDO stands out as a very pristine and clean game.  While it's obviously impossible to to prevent all cheating/nuisance BDO has the absolute minimum.

BDO's GM's also took steps to permanently BAN players in the past on several occasions for exploiting the game.

The reason it's controversial is because of the limited trading between players.  However, that alone isn't enough, the staff has been and needs to be active in watching over the game and continuing to remove players who abuse/exploit/automate etc.

Despite all the complaints about P2W etc..... I would say this is the first successful game that keeps gold farmers and botting away.

I agree. It was horrible at launch. They do deserve credit for curtailing RMT in this game. Kudos.

Daum/Pearl Abyss implemented things in the marketplace like controlled prices, taxes and even removed the option to trade certain items for money and the amount of tradable items per stack to prevent gold selling. Of any MMO I've played they've done this the best.

I agree with this.  I didn't think it would be possible to keep a game this clean.  There are a lot of whines about this and that, (market locks, player trading, etc...) but most of us here have all seen the alternative.  The alternative destroys many fun and good games.

Gold selling is soooo ten years ago. They sell accounts instead these days, keep up with the times.

Gold sellers and the like are pretty non existent in BDO.  If you look at bikini panda and the time you need to not play for them to get you silver or levels and the cost with it.... might as well just play the game yourself and enjoy it.

There are a lot of players on BDO due to how the game is designed that create multiple accounts gear them and level them up then sell them off.  But it is what it is.

We don't really have botting problems, don't have spam issues from gold sellers and all that, and we don't really have any hacking that goes on....

So credit where credit is due.  For an mmo.... its pretty freaking clean.  That wasn't the case a few months after NA launch though.  Hacking was rampant as was market place botting and things like that.  But they cracked down hard and fast on it.  Hasn't been a problem since.

I imagine some people run some simple bots like fishing, etc.  But whatever... the game auto fishes anyways.  No reason to risk your account to do something slightly faster lol.

But selling an account on BDO is dumb...as all the original account owner has to do after giving you the log in info is to log in at the website a few days later and say they forgot the password and get a reset sent to their email. BDO does not make it "easy" or fast to change your account email, since you have to file a ticket and send pictures of yourself with a newspaper, etc. I dont think selling accounts is even viable in this game...as easy as it is in others.

people sell account, come back later and recover the account lul. Happen on every game. They literally get pay to let dumbass play the game for them and buy; cashshop item for their account.

Third party gold sellers? Yeah, practically non existant these days.

Guess they saw the infographic as well and decided it wasn't worth competing with 1st party gold sales.

Generally when you buy an account, you either have the enail changed to your own, or you gain ownership of email itself

I can live with limited trading btw players if the system has some sort of "NPC vendors" that can meet the demand of players. Or a force-enchant for everything that lets u bypass RNG. Right now I think the game is really just a big fat casino/lottery where u have to gamble for everything. If they are going to ban player trading then they must make sure the demand is met with supply.

Except in BDO you cant just "change the registration account" as easily as other MMOs. It is a pain in the ass (which it should be). The person selling the account is NOT gonna change the email to your email BEFORE you pay...or they may never get paid. The only alternative is to pay THEN get the email changed....but all the seller has to do is log in to the website, reset the password and they have the account back. Unless the account was made with the intention of selling (with a free gmail account or w/e) most sellers are not gonna give away the email account with the BDO account if it is an email they use.

Yeah, I bet that whole "making you change the email address" thing really deters account selling here in a way that it doesn't anywhere else. Because this is clearly the only game where an account seller can turn out to be a scammer and screw over the buyer.

Look, this game does a good job of fighting 3rd part vendors trying to cash in on the game at the expense of the rest of the playerbase and the game itself. They deserve credit for that, and they've introduced some real improvements on MMORPG economy controls that hopefully other game companies are paying attention to.

But the sharks are always circling trying to find a way to cash in on this game's success and trash the game in the process, and not every decision the game management makes is a good one for keeping them out. They need to stay vigilant, and not get complacent. It's a coevolutionary race, and it's not over and done.

3rd party gold sellers are replaced by these things called pearls, by a company called Pearl Abyss.  Some people dislike gold sellers, and there are a lot of legitimate concerns regarding them.  But in the past 17 years in MMO's gold sellers consistently provided you with cheaper gold & services than these gaming companies do.

So less gold spam, kudos.  Less gold sellers overall, kudos.  Less fraud that happens to players using 3rd party services/gold, kudos.

But we're faced with a locked market system, fixed pricing, no player trading, and a RNG market where you need luck to buy things.  Things gamers used to enjoy doing such as helping guildies/friends are no longer options in this game.  Fraud is replaced by pearl item trading, which scams are around.

Not gonna take sides or say if I like this system or not.  But I guess you take the good with the bad.

That is not what I said. What I AM saying is that in other games, you can easily change the registration email within minutes of getting the account. With BDO, you have to fill out a ticket (that alone can take weeks for a response) and then send them a picture of your picture ID in front of that days newspaper....the whole process of changing your email in BDO can take a month or so. Most other games, it takes literally minutes. This is a good thing...but you missed my point.

The thing with gold seller is that, though they are criminals, in an ethical point of view, gold sellers do provide guaranteed things, in contrast to that PA forbids us from trading and the only way to progress is through RNG=gambling. I'm not going to comment on which is more EVIL but PA really should consider giving us an alternative to RNG. Because sooner or later I believe there will be laws that prohibit online gambling and BDO as it stands will be kicked out of NA/EU. China already has anti-online gambling laws so I really believe it is just a matter of time.
