Better Social Player Relationship features.

Me and a very dear friend of mine, are quite passionate about BDO.
And we have on a few occasions got talking about how Pearl Abyss/Kakao could get around the dilemma of there being no form of trading system in-game " or at least one that works". And the lack of any ability to share much of the game experience with someone you have on your friends list, short of simply partying up with them and killing crap.

You see, I think its great being able to have someone for example visit your residence.
But what is really the point? they can not interact with anything like say your cooking utensil etc.

So one way we thought was to introduce what we dubbed Social XP.
In short this would be much like all other experience types in-game that allows an extra type of character progression
"relationships with friends" One example of how you could implement this, would be that Player X has gained a set amount of knowledge towards Player Y by simply partying up
and doing the game content.
The more time you spend together, would in turn change your status type of relationship with them.
Such as "acquaintance, friend, dear friend, partner" and so on.

Each type of status or rank if you prefer, would bring with it extra functionality.
Like say the ability to trade items and perhaps silver with them, or even have them move into your residence and have access to use crafting stations etc.
This would also be a good deterrent against gold sellers, because their very unlikely going to want to do all the work needed to party up with someone and climb those ranks just to sell in-game currency.

Most gold sellers look for feasibility, and to get in and make the $$$ quickly.
Which to my understanding is the main reason why the trading function was more or less switched off, despite the fact the button still shows to initiate trade with someone.

I'm not sure how the rest of the community would feel about such a system, but I do believe it would only serve to improve the whole game experience in a very positive way.
I do welcome feedback on how you feel about this idea, but please leave any immaturity at the door.

I love this idea!

The only thing I would ask is that social XP be account-wide. That way, you can trade/group up with whichever character you are currently on.

(I think they should make all professions account-wide, but that is for another thread)

Seems like a nice way to get around the issues of trading and bots, while encouraging party play at the same time. +1

I like this idea alot. Being unable to trade at all really hinders the game on many ways. I would like to bring mats to my alchemy friend and he would like to bring me cooking mats for items etc but we can't trade them. It Sucks this would be a great fix and encourage socializing for merchants looking to get there products out there.

I would add that guild members should be able to tradI items though not silver or at least gain double social xm to facilitate this.

I would main this game if this went into effect.

I have always felt at a loss when playing BDO with my friends. Every time that we play together, the multiplayer aspect of the game never really extends beyond "hey, let's kill a bunch of these mobs". And given that the majority of my relationships are solely virtual ones, a game that doesn't provide a strong multiplayer experience is a big no no.

As a result, I believe a system like the one the OP has suggested really is needed, and I am clearly not alone in thinking this. Now, don't get me wrong, BDO has some great features that you can't find anywhere else. But this is my problem, these features are not a joint experience; I can't say stuff like "let's go trading, hop on my wagon", or "want some spare mats? I gathered extra today", or "mind if I use your alchemy station, mine's just broken". This is something I call a waste, a huge stinking pile of waste. Yeah, there's a trade system, but it's a joke; we take the piss and use large health pots as currency. The game is so close to perfect for me that it actually hurts, the fact that I could enter a friends house, yet interact with nothing killed so many of my cells that it cured my cancer.

And yet here I still am, small and powerless, a mere statistic on a dev's spreadsheet, one of your loyal players. And all I can do is kneel and pray, pray to those almighty-yet-fickle developer-gods, and hope,  hope that one day Black Desert Online can escape the droll cocoon that is the massively almost/kinda/probably-multiplayer online genre.

And I can already see it, already feel it: The day that comes when I can eat a lot of pizza, play plenty of BDO vidya, and listen to spicy teamspeak banter all with my bros. Will be the day that I, DemWotsBinNorty, will have found a true home...

Oh, yeah. +1 btw

hop on my wagon

I thoroughly agree with all of your post, but this especially hit home with me.

I remember trying to introduce my sister to BDO, and I just happened to be on my wagon when she finally finished character creation.

To have her in a party and not be able to hop onto the wagon for a ride felt so incredibly isolating.

This and not having any chance to help her out or feel like I was interacting with her led us to simply play ESO together instead.

I don't understand why players in a party can't simply begin to interact with the wagon as if it were a solid object. Especially the carriages. Imo, allow players to open the doors and sit inside.

I'm begging for interactions that make me feel like BDO is a social MMORPG. Right now, it feels like a single player game.

This is such a great idea! So simple yet really good! This solves the abuse issue from gold sellers for sure and I wholeheartedly agree and hope the devs will see this idea! also this would work well with introducing social games which I posted about ages ago.

i wished for that for a long time. i remember how many of my buddies, who don't play this anymore told me, that this is just no real multiplayer. it was basically like this:

the only multiplayer rpg aspect is literally, that you can cook food and share it with your buddies. that's it. and this is from a supposed sandbox game, where shared multiplayer moments like this should be the backbone of the game.

i always wondered, why someone should not be able to create a cooking workshop and sell it the use of it, and the needed items as a service. or many other things, that just don't work out, because everybody and everything is isolated.

I just imagining: A group of adventurers are camping. There are players with different life skills who share the work. The hunter hunts down an animal and fishes some fish. The gatherer gathers vegetables, fruits, firewood. The cook cooks the meal. One of  the group produces healing potions, antidote.

Going a step further there could be a barber who shaves beards, do hair cuts. Maybe a bard could sing and play some music instrument. You could dance around the camp fire. A smith / tailor could repair equipment.  ...

Thought about it some more maybe doing guild quests could give double social xp for all guild members that participate so that guilds can be social and developers bonds faster.

I agree that some sort ocouple system would also be fun. I miss that from some other games I played

If they'd just start by not nerfing the exp you gain when in a party, it'd be a great start.

Love this idea! Currently playing with 4 people I know irl and there isn't much we can do together. As it is the game is very isolating.

This would really give me incentive to group up with people for PvE gameplay. I <3 it!

"Nothing is impossible"

By the way we like games 'cause they allow us to find new people\talking about something\trading stuff, since in bdo the social part isn't that much i agree with your good idea :-P

Like it! Would add +20% XP or something, when reaching the level partner. Could be: Stranger (0%), Pal (5%), Friend (10%), Good Friend (15%) and Partner (20%)

I'd still like a couple system where a couple could rude your wagon and maybe have some kind of Stat effects.
