FPS drop fix

Okey i was pulling my hair for the past week or two with my sudden FPS drop.

FPS drop was so bad i couldn't even grind at pirates anymore ... was jumping from 60 FPS to 20 at least one per minute.

Same problem persisted even when i set my game to optimization mode.

Then today i did my last upgade and it was SSD Samsung 850 EVO disk ... now i have CONSTANT 58-60FPS while grinding in towns it drops to around 40 average depends how many people are on the screen and bosses idk because i rearly do it.

My rig:

4930k i7

1080 GTX

64GB RAM

LT:DR anyone having fps drops try with SSD disk if u can.

Esc -> Marketplace -> My listings -> Esc

Repair BDO files

Restart PC

These also help quite often... SSD is if you have constant fps problems (mainly in towns and figths)... Some faster HDDs can support even casual gameplay, but yeah SSD is kinda a must for BDO... :-/

I hate to say this but for BDO, you gotta spend money to get better graphical results. I've told some people over and over to use a good SSD for BDO and I don't know how many followed that advice.

The can transfer much more data, i don't know how much, but Example: Cable is like 100 Mbs, direct in the motherboard is like 140 Mbs

I read somewhere its arround ~40% faster.

Srry, i have typing troubles if i typ to fast, srry for my bad English

Nah, tis just that some version of windows OS had some incompatibilities, and directx being directx, it can impact strongly perfs.

its coherent UI or windows.

No ssd and using budget gaming rig 600euros.

Fps 60 in the wild 40 in town 10-20 in WB
whenever I get fluctuating fps its coherent ui or windows doing some update automatically or sending my porn folder to Microsoft.

I used to get 30 FPS at world bosses for the last year. After 2-3 patches ago I've dropped down to 3 FPS at world bosses. I don't bother anymore.

have you reinstalled windows on your new SSD? Then you have the reason right there.

One thing worth the money, if you have a mobo for it, is an M.2 SSD. No stuttering or large FPS drops. One of the best things you can get imho. Well worth the $$$

How does an external SSD compare to an internal one?

I think ssd should be standard tbh with how much they've gone down in price but it's surprising it had that much of an effect.

Exactly mate. I had same way of thinking ... few months ago everything was running just fine and i was on old HDD.. Disk bottlenecking my game performance was the last thing i thought about. SSD is a life line for BDO and absolute must have if you want to play it without sluttering and FPS drops.

I have BDO on old and new disk and testing it today its more than 40% boost in performance easily.

PS How i came to a conclusion that disk might be a problem was setting game to optimiation mode with everything turned off and FPS drops were still present.

Optimisation mode should be reserved to people without a dedicated GPU (or not recent enough) as it is supposed to switch a lot of stuff to software rendering.

The game bringing a basic CPU (like 3rd gen I5) to nearly full load in some situations, no surprise you can still have fps drops on opti.

I can't say since I always had the game on a SATA SSD or better, but I find it surprising that you would gain 40% perf just by switching from a HDD, I would be more inclined to think that you were lucky or changed some other setting (windows, driver, in game, whatever, so much stuff to check) that you don't remember. I was still having that kind of fps drop until this week (started since start of the month roughly) and my game is on a NVME drive ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (fixed it by limiting fps to 60, weird and a shame since I play on 144Hz but I'll take it anyway).

SSD WILL NOT solve frame drops.

There are some other weird bugs with drivers/windows in general that will cause insane drops when players come into view at times.

Not sure what it is.... sometimes my game does it sometimes it doesn't.... after this patch it stopped however so maybe it was a bug they fixed?

Anyways, I run a M.2 at full speed.  I still get random drops sometimes.
