The ability to have different outfits, or to be able to color outfits within reasonable cost.

What is up with a dye pallet with a time limit? I can live with renting the pallet, but the fact you also lose the color you put on your outfit when it expires is really bad business.

What is also pretty bad is the cost of the armors in the pearl shop.... I would have no problem buying a armor set for $32 if I could also use that same set on other characters. My wife and I are alt junkies, as I am sure many other potential players would be.

This is a very good game, fun to play and has excellent music, good graphics for a rpgmmo, amazing combat and a character creator even god would enjoy playing with - lol. It is a real shame, greed is in the way and punishing anyone that loves to be immersed in their character's appearance.

How about a system that works for another group of people, like us older folks. Leave the current system in place for people that do like it, but have a subscription system for people too, one that gives them things like color dye pallet, a monthly allotment of pearls and maybe a few other small perks perhaps. I came from two AAA RPGMMO's, they have a monthly subscription system too, but ESO has a much better and more cost friendly system than SWTOR. BDO does not have to have anything exact, but at least offer the option. Actually, ESO and BDO are both P2P, but ESO has the monthly subscription for those extras. Think about it, from a business standpoint, you get a steady monthly income from players that like doing business that way. You would still be P2P and would have no negative impact on the existing community or new players by adding a subscription model to this game.

We will be watching close for new deals and/or pearl shop changes.... Great job on the game-play!

you can both buy value pack ( merv pallete included ) AND cash shop armors with in game money. people can list them on auction house.

Lots of words.

Me and my wife have been playing since launch, and we still talk about in game stuff.  But the game is clearly a pvp game as far as end game content goes.  Node/Seige wars are where you discuss the strategy, mistakes, maneuvers etc.

I do however agree they were very lazy with pve content, even Nouver is basically a dragon pinata that you beat till you see loot..

I mean its pretty much the same in every other game. You learn the mechanics of the boss. You rinse repeat. Most raids in other games do require some form of communication yes but after completing it 400x its not much of a challenge not to mention the combat mechanics in most of those games are move cursor, press 1, arrow key, move cursor, press 2, arrow key, move cursor, arrow key, press 3.

Aside from this, most of those games have been out for years or are under the huge companies who have created similar games many times over. If you read news from the KR updates they have already mentioned raid like bosses or dungeons. Luckily we can hope they won't implement them the same way as all of the snoozefest sorry excuses for an mmo out there today. Hopefully they are done well but you can't make assumptions on what doesn't exist yet.

I'm not sure which MMORPGs are snoozefests. Having a challenging raid boss that takes weeks for your guild to finally master and get a kill is FUN to me.

The raids I have been in require constant voice communication. We cannot do the fights without coordinating. Things happen in every fight where you need to make split second decisions because you never know what is going to happen to which player.

Maybe I have been extremely lucky to play the right MMORPGs for raiding content, but if a boss doesn't have any elements of surprise and your heart isn't at your throats with every fight... that game is doing something wrong.

BDO has amazing qualities, and I wish the PvE was anywhere near as glorious as other parts of the game.

If we could have hardcore mode raids in BDO that challenged player skill and required perfected coordination among players, this game would sweep the market.

I am looking forward to anything KR will release, and I'm happy to hear they are going to be giving PvE some love. With that being said, do you have any links for me to take a look at what they are releasing? I haven't heard any specifics

I dont know why. Whenever I grind pve mobs or do instanced dungeons with other people. My eyes begin to strain and start to hurt. Im not even doing anything stressful. But my eyes just begin to experience pain. Sort of like when I had to study. lol

I get what you mean, different things appeal to different people obviously. I have played most MMOs that have come up pre-BDO. The Raids always end up being the same ideas, healer tank dps avoid x y z do a b c win. rinse repeat 4000x times for the good loot. Doesnt really appeal to me anymore than killing the same mobs 4000x over.

The new boss that was announced is a guild "raid" boss hopefully it is not the same as the old guild bosses which are next to useless now. Link below. Also there was a video which showcased an raid type mission where you would work with a team to defend a central point from waves of mobs. Again all of this can be really cool and imo we should give it time and not rush into the same old boring Raid style gameplay which you can go into most mmos today to experience.

Honestly, don't bother getting the game. Same thing I tell any of my friends who ask, it's just a huge money sink. Devs only care about KR and Publishers only care about money. Don't expect any changes to the cash shop any time soon. The basics of the game are nice, but that's only to lure you in, don't fall for it. You need a damn cash shop costume just so you can swim decently... This game is just a casino that's cleverly disguised as a MMO, anyone who tells you differently either works for Kakao or is too stupid to realize it.

I wonder if there's ever gonna be some rich guy who's a gamer through and through who will finally decide to create and launch a game not for profit, but for the players. I dream of such a day, but it will most likely just remain a dream though.

I couldn't disagree more. There are so many aspects of the game that require absolutely no money spent to enjoy. Sure you can spend money to speed up certain aspects but a normal patient gamer looking for a social outlet or the depth a game can offer in its systems will find great enjoyment. As with any game, play the game for you and don't worry about how other people play.

Thanks all, I did not look at the value packs, they do kind of simulate a monthly sub, but I am bothered by the fact those inventory slots do not carry over to alts.

However, we will give the game a go....  It is fun to play. :)

As for the others that suggest not bother playing this.... If there is one thing I have learned, all MMO's have something that sucks... lol

The value packs inventory slots works on all characters

You need to pay for everything here. Run while you have spent little time, that way you won't feel like if you should stay cause all the time already spent.

This is a cash grab, and nothing will change.

Really? They need to pay for everything with real life cash?

So. . . They need to pay:

  • Per connection to the server?
  • Per channel switch?
  • Per continent?
  • For access to each class?
  • Per potion they buy?
  • Per action they take?
  • Per Contribution Point they obtain?
  • Per experience point they obtain?
  • Per node invested into?
  • Per boss monster participated in?
  • Per guild they make or join?
  • Per horse they tame?
  • Per worker they buy?
  • Per silver they obtain?
  • Per item they craft?
  • Per item they farm? (Farming skill)
  • Per item they gather?
  • Per fish they fish?
  • Per item they process?
  • Per item they cook?
  • Per turn-in that they trade in?
  • Per item they obtain?
  • Per warehouse slot available?
  • Per inventory slot available?

There are so many other things in this game that I haven't listed where you need only buy the license to access the game servers to access the features and items.

"I wonder if there's ever gonna be some rich guy who's a gamer through and through who will finally decide to create and launch a game not for profit, but for the players. "

There's a reason this doesn't happen. Video games need to make profit. If they don't make profit they are scrapped.

Video gaming is a business. They are business that let you pay for service to a product ("aka the video game")

MMORPG's have to continually release content at a much faster rate than any other type of game. RPG's like TW3 get one or two actual content updates and then the game is over, but MMORPG's can sometimes get updates for years. They need profit to continually work on the game.

Every single game that doesn't make profit normally loses its multiplayer. Lets look at some examples

I wonder if there's ever gonna be some rich guy who's a gamer through and through who will finally decide to create and launch a game not for profit, but for the players.

Crysis 3 for example. They literally took away crysis 3's multiplayer mode.

Guild wars 2 is another good example. GW2 has continually made less and less profit since there Heart Of Thorns expansion. Guess what happened after the expansion? GW2 has slowly dwindled it's content releases. It used to have bi-weekly content updates(thats right, 2 content updates/month!) and now it's lucky to get any meaningful updates every 2-4months content wise. GW2 is currently at the lowest it's ever been and you can go and check NCSofts Earnings reports for each quarter.

Pearl Abyss and Kakao also publicize there earnings reports each quarter and they don't actually make that much from gaming

The fact is that no MMORPG can stay afloat without making profit. People can state oh "MMORPG's are making 100x what they spent" and "Kashkao is making away like a burglar!" but the fact is BDO started development in 2010 so that is pretty costly.

The only MMORPG that gets around this fact is World Of Warcraft, and that is because the game is an oddity that consistently stays above 3million players and also has a subscription model, with a slight cash shop, and also paid services such as race changes and server transfers. However, each and every expansion people quit the game faster and faster (this is proven), so maybe by 2020 this won't be a thing anymore.

At the end of the day. I just graduated with my college degree and only 4000$ student debt. I'm able to pay all my bills and set aside 100-200$/month for anything I want, I basically haven't spent money in months now on the game and I have no problems. I wish it was cheaper, but oh well. I can still afford it without a problem.

My advice to any potential new players: Read up in DETAILS on how endgame gear enhancement is done. Pets breeding system and etc. The game sucks you in with its leveling content.

I still enjoy the game but detests its gambling system implemented in almost every aspect of the game.

I still really enjoy this game, but the thing that seems most likely to eventually make me quit is the absolutely soul crushing RNG that is gear upgrading/pet upgrading.

I would much rather every time I kill a world boss, get 1 fragment and then need 100, or 500, or 1,000 of them to get loot, than have a 1/100, 1/500, or 1/1000 chance of getting a drop.

Same for pretty much anything, really.

A consistent progression that rewards effort is far better than monstrous RNG that rewards some while destroying others.

Yeah, YOU NEED TO PAY FOR ALL THAT YOU WROTE, JUST NEED TO THINK FOR 10 MINUTES (IN YOUR CASE) AND YOU WILL ALSO REALISE THAT THEY PAID FOR ALL THAT ALREADY. SHERLOCK.

I am sure that you even think that that comment is somehow clever... Better go buy a brain, and spend less buying pearls.

These forums can be a toxic cesspool(as you can probably tell) so take everything you read with a grain of salt and form your own opinion once you've gotten familiar with the game. Theres alot of people who will try to scare you from the game but at the same time be consistent and active in the forum community, which comes off as contradicting to me, but that just shows they are still here playing the game LOL so it cant be that bad right?

Youre doing yourself a favor, honestly.

I agree. Get out while you can. It is too late for me....BDO has it's hooks in me. It is, however far better than the games you mentioned...but it isn't for everyone. The combat is so superb in this game that i literally cannot play any other MMOs. So my advice...get out before you get hooked.

We are at the end of our 7 day trial, it expires tomorrow. We really think this is a neat game in its own way, and not looking to compare this with another game we are playing.

Our gripe and why we will not buy this otherwise fun game....

You obviously haven't played certain games that cost you around 300$ to get one great looking outfit from rng boxes. 32$ is cheap in comparison and not too mention you can always tried Mp that's what i have done >.> I do agreed though dying outfits with merv palette should be permanent.

Why do you feel that you have to insult me? Why don't you show a little maturity.

Because most likely it's easier to insult someone then actually try argue a point specially with certain types of people these days.

Because you write walls of text pretending like you know how this game works, when in reality you've been killing Catfish for the past year. This is a competitive PVP game, at least once you leave safe zones. There is no escaping it. So when you chime in with your white knight brigade about how art mems give no advantage whatsoever and they're only for "'''''''convinience''''''', I wish you would tell people upfront that you are a carebear and have no idea how endgame pvp works in this game.

Only then would I give you the respect you feel you deserve, because you would be qualifying your statements based on your complete lack of experience regarding pvp.

And the rest of us would ignore your comments and talk with the rest of the grownups about actual issues that affect endgame pvp, not catfish-killing efficiency.

Right most grownups don't care about this sort of thing. They just play games to play games and only one of you seems like a mature grownup. I will leave it to you figure that out >.>

so it's a première that being more competitive requires more investments? seems to me that it is quite the case for all hobbies.

The value packs do add the inventory slots and weight increases to all your characters for the duration of the value pack. It's why it's so attractive if you have several characters you play regularly.

Or perhaps after reading comments offering information on things like value packs the OP has changed his mind. Just something to consider.

What information? Is that an awesome deal to make someone purchasing a game cause of its existence, don't make me laugh please.16 inv slots and 100 weight... pfff, oh yeah all problems solved, who needs to spend 60 dollars in extra weight when you can solve everything with a value pack...

Wake up.

I don't freaking care if they buy it or not, but opening a topic about this to change idea just cause someone says there are value packs around is very funny. Subscription in SWTOR gives you far more than value pack subscription here.

And btw... Arg, why am i arguing with stupid? My bad.
