My Response

WAT!?  You want an HD photo of the FRONT & BACK of my ID, and a PHOTO OF THE CREDIT CARD?!
There isn't even a privacy policy seal on this email! And this is coming from some sketchy-looking "support+2156678.0BEBA0@paymentwall.com" email.
This has ALL the red flags of identity theft!

This is America buddy, we don't do this crap here, keep that in Europe! I'm not sending my card or identity to some sketchy email to some other country in the EU. I'm never giving "KaKao" money again as long as PaymentWall is around.

This is insane!

And I've been here since Beta with 230+ Hours logged in, and paid around $400+ so far!

What the actual -----????

@GM Creat0r @GM Creator @GM Felaxus @GM Kaiji @GM Moose @GM MWallace @GM Neevachu @GM Neevachu @GM_Axion @GM_BBrilliant @GM_Bytesize

I remember reading a while back, its actually illegal to request customers to send sensitive data like this over a non-encrypted email.

I have spent just as much if not more on BDO and I have yet to encounter such problem. So obviously the question is, what did you do ? Untitled.thumb.png.5266cc2a424cfd353abe3

Yes, because we Europeans do this on daily basis.

I heard you get this kind of emails when you use 3rd party programs.

@Abarrane I've been using Paypal this whole time, with the exceptions my debit card a few times when things were on sale.

I'm 27, my birthday was coming up so my mother lent me her card to get whatever online under $50.

So I bought this on Amazon, no problems.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008LTJLO8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Ordered a pizza from Dominos, no problems.
https://www.dominos.com/en/

Bought $10 for some perals in BDO, Transaction Failed. That was last month. So yesterday I used my paypal to order $10 in pearls and I got that email, requesting a front & back HD copy of my Driver's License, a copy of my mother's bank statement, and an HD photo of the front & back of my mother's credit card.

  • This only happens when there is a dispute on a transaction, which there wasn't.

No email encryption, no privacy seal in the email, sketchy long EU email not even greeting my by my name, or anything that identifies me, just, "Hi".

All this started when BDO added "Gift" pearl shop items into the game. This payment system is being operated like some idiot 19 year old kid is doing it.
I sent a ticket to the GMs, I doubt they'll do anything. This paymentwall bs is going to end up costing them more money than "securing". I wouldn't DREAM of sending anyone photographs even remotely related to this sensitive information, unless its a HUGE emergency going to my bank, and the email had a privacy seal and was encrypted.

Already put Paymentwall listed as SPAM in my email. As long as Paymentwall is around, I'm never giving this company another $1.

Yeah EU is the worst - you should put on your tinfoil hat and start digging bomb shelter while reading Breitbart and eating BBQ ribs.

/sarcasm off :)

Are you aware this is done to actually protect you? If you do not agree with them just reply to an email explaining what happened and why you do not want to follow their request. It may actually help. Definitely it is better thing to do then whining on the forums in the way you did.

Read my post and your question will be self-evident. Further, I asked if there was any dispute, and she said no, and was surprised what happened. I told her about the shit these EU people are requesting and we both agree like any responsible human being, this is some identity theft scam. If paymentwall hires a scammer, its all over. If they get hacked, its all over. I'm not putting myself, or any family member in that position. Their policy is trash, and KaKao needs to form another payment system.

Obviously, that $10 failed transaction is the source of all the problem. It isn't hard to see, when you are dealing with micro-transaction, especially from one continent to another, a failed transaction will instantly get your account flagged. Moreover, you switched between 2 cards, that adds in with being flagged due to past failed transaction, the service will certainly have question and have to ask you to provide proof that you are the real owner and not just a scammer.

That isn't to say the method they use is acceptable, but this is a lesson for you in the future, always stay with 1 card for as long as you can and check your account before making any purchase.

Aside, it is entirely your lost if you decide to take the route you claimed to be, there are still plenty of other paying customers really.

It makes no sense posting this here. Just email Kakao if you got any problem how they handle this stuff. But I can guarantee you, that you won't get any help with this attitude.

Tip to players with no credit card and using their parents / friends:

Instead of putting their card info, ask for cash and buy a paypal gift card and load it in your paypal account.

Your account will be safe, his/her card is safe.

How to avoid issues like Identity verification:

Do not constantly change your ip address like using vpn or anything similar to that cause they may think that other person is using your account.

--------------

Got a card? Great but dont want it to be steal or used by someone?

Use Paypal.

Did you really feel the need to insult Europe? I'm from Europe and asking for copies of your ID or creditcard if you are not licensed to do so (read: are not a government organisation) is illegal here too. They tell you to cover the parts that they would need to steal your creditcard/ID though so you are free to black out your document number and social security number.

Attitude? I've no problem them calling or emailing me and discussing recent transactions.

In what way are these methods acceptable to any standard, outside of India?

Not illegal here. This is NA, the method of verification they're asking, is actually illegal in some USA states if there is no email encryption. This is simply barbaric.

And I'm letting others here on the forum to know not to send such personal information to prevent identity theft, which should be common sense, for anyone in NA anyway.

It's common sense for anyone in Europe too. Can you stop acting like Europeans are dumb  people now? You literally have 0 foundation for it. Entitled piece of shit.

Calm down, you dont have to insult every country you can think of.

Like he said, go ahead and contact support cause the email maybe real or maybe "phishing" so the only way to find out is talking directly to Kakao Games.

It's nice to share your situation in the forum but in this kind of situation neither me or them can help you.

I hope you get your issue resolved.

This topic is degenerating into off-topic trash. First post with screenshot has huge concerns all over it and I hope KaKao finds a new payment method for their own sake.

-snip- i purchased Kakao Cash with Gold Seller -snip-

Drink battery acid and kill yourself please. Not only is this illegal but cancer like you ruins MMOPG's and promote gold selling behaviour, something that 99% of the players hate.
