So I've been playing for one month and have spent $320 USD on the game.. most of which was getting a T4 pet. I don't plan on spending any more whatsoever. Curious to see how much others have spent.

If you've spent over $400 please let us know in a comment how much you've spent.

ON my main account around 2k... probably 2.5k at this point over the course of a year.  Pretty much all of it but maybe 300-400 was costumes or convenience.

It's certainly wasn't "Pay to Win" either as my highest toon has 189 AP/ 245 DP.  At the end of the day this game is a game of hard work, consistent play and some skill.   I don't have a lot of time to play so that's why I'm not progressed as far as I could be.  But my purchases were for me.  I've been enjoying my time in the world of black desert in my own way.

In comparison a guildie of me that took the "$10 bdo challenge"  (see how far you can progress in 30 days with only a base 10 dollar account) who was also new to the game was able to achieve 180 AP and 250 DP in 30 days by carefully researching the mechanics of the game, taking the few beginner tips I gave him along with some videos I recommended and used that knowlege to maximum efficiency.  He made 2 billion silver in those 30 days and was able to buy a Tri Kutum and a duo Kzarka and got some good accessories some of which he got lucky with enhancing.   The only thing he said he felt he was dependent upon was having a value pack... which you can get half the time with Silver.

So if this is a thread baiting out a "Pay to Win" argument then you need only look at his example to see that anyone with hard work and intelligent gameplay can make it to competitive endgame in BDO.

I pretty quickly reached 1k€ but slowed down since then since the problems in the game seem to get more and more and nothing is getting done about it.

I think I have no problem supporting a well made and well run game, so I can say since (former) DaumEU now KakaoEU did a pretty good job up until the countless fiascos of Shoveling, Selling Costumes, Artisan Memory, Dsync, bad Optimisation, partially bad Localisation delaying Nodewars for Months, delaying Nouver for Months etc I was satisfied and spend my money proudly.

Nowadays I may be a bit uneasy about shelling another 100€ for Artisans to get my last Piece to TET but I'm so far in I can't stop now .......

Not one of them yet, but might soon be - its our hobby. Most of us definitely play from the beginning so all in - its not that much money per month and hours of entertainment. Compared to 15 euro ticket for cinema, yeah - Ill rather support the game.

everyone has their hobbies right?  some people spend thousands a year rebuilding classic cars or over a hundred dollars a week going to bars trying to pick up girls.   Some people collect expensive art etc.  At some point in your life ou end up getting to a point where you are financially comfortable and end up having enough disposable income to have some kind of hobbie that is purely frivolous.

Yes it's a waste of money but if we are getting hrs upon hrs of enjoyment from it then is it really a waste?  Hell my Dad spends 130 bucks a month on cable TV.  We don't even have cable.  Just internet and a netflix subscription so that's about $80 saved a month right there.  That's $960 a year you can spend on something else.

Most smokers spend an average of $30 a week on cigarettes.  That's $1600 a year of money your wasting on a frivolous habit that is slowly poisoning your body over time. I don't have any of those expenses so that right there is $2560 I can spend on video games a year if I want.

Point is we all have or hobbies/vices we throw our disposable income at.  BDO is ours.

I bought $30 dollars in pearls twice this weekend. $80 overall.

Some of the purchases are very useful and I am glad I got them, especially transaction maid. But some of the purchases I really do regret and it is hard to not be angry over it.

Over $400. Pets and costumes mostly, though I've bought artisans as well.

hmm, i could tell you all the things  I spent more than $400 on that are much more  "gross"

Besides, has nothing to do with pride.

My spending has slowed a ton, I've got enough digital luxuries to hold me over till the servers shut down, prolly.

Hey to each their own like I said, its not my money I dont really care. Well thats not true. Stuff like this killed the subscription model and arguably encourages game development to be lesser than what it could be.

That said, if the servers were better (geographical position and plain hardware) I likely would've spent some money on pearls. They've greatly improved class balance issues from where they were which was a big one for me before.

Netflix is for people who dont know what torrent sites are.  Having the internet and not using torrents, is like buying a nice car then taking a taxi everywhere
