I find worker too slow for my needs so I just buy the mats off MP, you can get a full 500 stack for 150k to 174k and you still make profits so don't worry about workers just let them gather and use your stock when MP is short of mats.

Invest in logging to get more workers, I currently have 24 and it's still not enough...

Start doing the Olvia daily quests for the life exp and cp plus if your high enough level do the calph dailies and the mansha/rhutum dailies aswell for the cp to invest in even more gathering nodes etc

Gathering is the most important one, since you'll get sharp&hard crystal shards as well as materials that's usually sold out. You want at least skilled 5 asap so you can start using magic&lucky tools.

Second to focus on is processing. Pretty much all types of money making and crafting requires processing.

You also need to level processing&gathering to unlock life skill certificates like "heating" or to get rare materials when gathering.

Also do Trading. It's a slow and boring grind, but totally worth it once you get  Master 2 for max profit crates.

I don't think other life skills are as important as those to focus hard on. Basically you dont need master or even artisan when it comes to cooking, alchemy, training, farming and so on. Only need basic skills and knowledge to make your own stuff, if you feel like being self-sufficient. Can always start of making your own beer for example. Can also make lower level Imperial Cooking&alchemy boxes and sell to NPC for easy cash. They're more profitable than higher level Imperial boxes, for some stupid reason ¬¬
