Does anyone here have a Ryzen 7 1700 or i7 7700k with GTX 1070 or better ?

What is your FPS like in cities, towns, world bosses, node war, sieges and out in the open world.

I am upgrading my CPU next week, leaning towards the Ryzen 7 1700 as I can could do AFK tasks while I played other games and the performance of the game I would be playing will not be affected.

The Ryzen 7 1700 upgrade path is also cheaper combined with a b350 motherboard.

I am running a GTX 1080ti @ 1440p / 144hz monitor

Your thoughts guys ?

I have an Intel 7700k with a 1070 and well..its very very good

I leave BDO on one screen, with Player Unknown playing on the other, and ZERO impact tbh, can play Heroes of Storm or LoL zero impact

Thanks for the reply,

How is performance with black desert running in the background with CPU intensive games such as

GTA V

BF1

The Division

Witcher 3

Ashes of the Singularity

Arma 3 / Player Battlegrounds

I run a 7700k @4.9Ghz, with a 1080 TI.

BDO in towns runs at 50-80 fps (Heidel on a bad channel sometimes 40-45 in worst case), outside towns it easily maxes out on the vsynced (gsynced) 144 fps.

Witcher 3 with BDO in background runs still with over 100 FPS, GTA5 about the same (graphics settings maxed on both).

The only thing I hate about i7 7700k is the fact that CPU die isn't soldered to IHS. And because of that you will see temps as high as 85°C on stock settings. So not much room left for overclocking unless you delid it and use liquid metal inside.

I will wait till more players test Ryzen CPU in BDO, and then decide if it's worth buying over my i7 4790k.

I have not played most of those but did play BF1 and had no frame rate loss that I could notice. Mine is overclocked to 4.8ghz and it can get hot tbh upto 80c with watercooling too

had the same temperature first until I put in a second radiator, got much better with max at 70c and BDO afk activities (window shown) at 52c

You do realize the AMD CPU is FAR better at multi tasking right?

Geez, that's such very high temp oO  that's very bad.

And so far, the performance difference between a 4790k and 7700k isnt ( imho ) high enough to worth the CPU change ( + MB + ram ). Well after i'am used to only change my hardware only if mine really start to struggle.

Theres a large post with this, well 2 posts with this but im refering to the easier to read in Korean one, 1080p - In short 1700 was more or less on par with 6700k & 7700k for top fps.
Except its lowest frame was 11.8fps (1700). 22.8fps (6700k), 24fps(7700k)
no menchion of average FPS.
HIDEL TEST

(which i find werid because my set up x99 5960x & the 5930k gtx1080 doesnt go below 15fps in hidel, most of the time it doesnt drop below 30fps tho with alot of people there depends on channel.)

side not unrelated to that posts info: Ryzen Generally does perform better 1440p & above than it does at 1080p.

Go Ryzen 1700! Make sure to get a motherboard that offers 3200Mhz RAM, and buy 2 x DDR4 @3200Mhz RAM sticks!

Get an Ryzen. You wont get higher FPS than the intel, but they will be alot smother and it plays alot better with smother fps, no spikes like on the Intel systems.

I upgraded form an i7 950 Asus p6t deluxe  v2 12gb gskill ram. to 1700 GA-ax370-Gaming K7 with 32gb memory. The difference has been pretty huge, now keep in mind their is a known problem with Ryzen and nvidia gpu's, most notably with regards to dx12 performance because of how nvidia offloads a lot of the load to the intel cpu. Ryzen paired with a AMD gpu and the small performance gap between Ryzen and the 7700k disappears, with that said I also have a 1080 founders edition paired with it and I have had no problems having 60fps on my 1440p monitor in any game I have played from the witcher 3 to battlefield and mass effect Andromeda. My main reason for going to Ryzen was I do a lot of 3d modeling and animation and photoshop as well as game. Also I was a big fan of AMD back in the Athlon days and I wanted to support their comeback.  So I would go with the 1700 if you want 8 core goodness and low power usage and low heat, if you don;t need 8 cores go with a Ryzen 1500 or 1600 the 6 core and 4 core overclock better and have some better performance in games. But with developers coding games to take advantage of more cores these days 8 is wonderful, plus the benefit with AMD is you can upgrade to a new cpu at very little cost in the future.

Edit, Intel is known for some stuttering issues, with the Ryzen that has gone away my play experience is very smooth during all types of gameplay in all my games.

yep, since you are going to do multitasking, the 1700 should have way more headroom. Also as you said, AM4 has a better upgrade path because it's here to last atleast 4 years.

Intel has been very good at keeping folks writing software to run on intel better. I am not sure AMD is able to counter this yet. I for one will not stray from intel and their better single core game performance until I see some evidence that this wont be just like the previous 10 years. Perhaps if their newly released ryzen was better then intels current chips but for gaming, it is not.
