[Notice] Account Security

Greetings Adventurers,

We recently received a report that account security may have been compromised on a third party website. In response, we have reset the password for any related accounts. We strongly urge any user whose password was reset to contact customer support in order to change your e-mail address. Additionally if you used the same or a similar password on any other services, it should be replaced.

Please note that a password reset can take up to 90 minutes. Spamming the reset request will result in your account being blocked.  We do apologize for any inconvenience this process has caused, but we place paramount concern on matters of security, and will take any steps necessary to protect our players.

As always, your support is appreciated.

If you need to change your password, you also have to change your whole email address too?! What about those of us who do not have multiple email addresses at our disposal, we have to create a whole new one we'll never check because of this? What the hell.

Well it's for your own security. :D  I personally have only one email adress, but I definitely wouldn't mind creating a new one if it helps.

This is why we need the second authentication.... please.

This.
I mean no security is perfect but even an extra layer (like the PIN you have to put in upon pressing start in korea) would be good.

Googled an image (old image) but you get the idea.

#why Kakao/PA doesn't need to know my personal info.
We deserve at least a better discription of what is going on.
You guys are in the EU, ever heard of data-leaks and how you guys are obliged to report those? @@CM_Aethon

They cannot just clearly state which "3rd party site" it is. Its probably a legal issue.
This happened on GW2 before (and probably on other games, recently Revelations Online had the same issue.).

This is related to the currently missing SSL on these forums isn't it?

The third party was the SSL issuer wasn't it?

On the contrary, this means that "players" logged on the 3rd parties using almost the same credentials as BDO.
And probably that 3rd party got hacked OR sold the Info into bot sellers.

In case you're wondering if you're one of the victims, this site helps.

13. PRIVACY

Kakao Games Europe undertakes, in the Privacy Policy, to ensure in the protection of the User’s personal data in compliance with Directive 95/46/EC of the European Parliament and its transposition in Dutch law.

About that.... sigh.

Hmm - wait - when I did authorize you to use 3rd party services to render my gamin....grrrrr. This is one of those Damn Daum moments and I can't even say it cause I've been Kakao'd.

PSA if this is about the cloudflare issue. Change your reddit/Discord passwords too since they also use cloudflare.

Maybe you could tell us which site got hacked? That way we'd know if our email and other accounts are vulnerable too! Is it so much to ask?

Hidden Content

I have quit games over this. It's not my job to keep my information that I share with Kakao secure, it's theirs. If they don't want the responsibility then they shouldn't require it.

You do Not have to change your password or account info if you did Not go on the 3rd party website!.

1. Right to clear this mess up.

1. The 3rd party website is panda binki  a known site.

2. The only effected account is the player who went to the 3rd party website !.

3 things

  • 1. They have either been breached (Which means they cant identify who yet)
  • 2. Because there is no SSL encryption there are no secure logins atm meaning this "3rd party could be responsible" (This means they may be able to identify but due to ethics they will try to resolve the issue before revealing)
  • 3. A 3rd party site has been breached and there has been reports of unauthorized logins here due to simlar passwords and emails, however for legal reasons they can't mention what site.

Best bet is 1 or 2, because if 3 they would clarify the issue.

If you people cared about account safety you'd have allowed us to have actual methods of protecting our accounts. You really clearly don't care and are only telling us because it's legally required.

It's not panda bikini because I got my password reset (and they say they reseted only involved accounts) and I didn't ever registrate on panda.

I mean it could be but warning us taking action NOW when Cloudbleed occured weeks  over a month ago...would look way worse than what this does now.
