7D Fence removal timer has encouraged me to stop playing

The 7 day timer on removal of fences and all of the farm items growing in it has bit me more than a couple of times.

I often have to travel for work for periods over a week, therefore there's no way I can keep visiting my plots to prevent all the stuff from being deleted. I even had everything up and disappear while I was harvesting/planting new crops! literally zapped from existence right in front of me.  This makes growing crops a near impossible thing to do, and discourages me from beginning again and again, which is a shame as I kinda liked the mindless nature of it.

Most of all it's totally arbitrary as a time limit, and serves no purpose other than forcing people to login. 

I understand the timer is also useful in ensuring players don't nab the best plots of land indefinitely, but increasing the timer to 14D would be a significant help for people such as myself that struggle to get time to access the game on a weekly basis.

I imagine it has to do with having resources taken up for long periods of time by people not playing the game or quitting.  I wish they did this more with stuff like boats etc that get left sitting in Velia for months

Boats are now checked in automatically after a certain amount of inactive time at a wharf. Just compare the wharf in Velia now to  the way it looked 6 months ago and you will see the difference. Especially now we have all the big boats around.

I don't think the timer is about being able to get the best plots of land, as farms can overlap. When abandoned farms aren't removed regularly, farms will be all over the place and disturb the look and feel of the game. I think it's a good solution. Leaving plants out for two weeks isn't efficient farming anyways. Many crops take around 4 hours to grow, so why not stick to the crops you can harvest in time and replant when you are back online?
