Vertex Hosted 2V2 PvP Tournament

5/4/2017 @9:00 PM EST

Calpheon Castle

Winners earn the GRAND PRIZE of 2250 pearls each.

Vertex is hosting an open pvp tournament that will allow anyone to join. The Tournament will take place in the Calpheon Castle courtyard.  The tournament will be a 2 versus 2. Each pair must sign up together. To sign up you will need to join a discord server that I have set up for this tournament. The instant invite link can be found here : https://discord.gg/qp94Hp8 . Join the discord and send a message to me, ATallStalker, on discord with the in game names of both the participants and a picture of each of their gear sheets. The tournament will be a best of 5 rounds. Each round will last 2 minutes. The rules are simple and are as follows : No duplicate classes on a team (for this witch/wizard count as the same class), If a match is interrupted then that round will be restarted fresh. Before each of the rounds of all the matches starts the players from both teams will be killed and have their black spirit's rage siphoned. There will be a spectator placed in each teams party to ensure that there is no foul play. The winners of the tournament win the prize of 2250 pearls to each participant.

After a certain point of gear you can outskill your opponent pretty easily, especially in 2v2's. And gear is a huge part of the game, why equalize that in a tournament that's supposed to be competitive?

Why not for competitive spirit and to equalize factors outside of skill as much as possible?  Plus, may get more interested this way.

250AP is pretty dank skill though.

Either way stream this thing it should be fun.

True that...

Even better Manup v. Vision v. Vertex siege on a single castle.

See who the top guild is with all those gears.

Ping is first and foremost imo, especially in this small scaled pvp.

It's pretty much free game in this department. Both teams will be reset after each match so people cant be chugging 30 elixirs with a pure black stone. It will be up to the team to decide which elixir each will pop, if any, before the round. That choice may certainly change adding another layer of strategy to the fight. Unfortunately we cannot enforce things like gear limitations or consumable use so the goal is to create as close to a spur of the moment real world fight as possible.

while that would be interesting, there's no way we can check/enforce people's gear. Not to mention, people would have to make an entire second set of gear just to drop their current stats down low enough. Not really viable outide of a gm hosted pvp event.

Yep.  Can't inspect in this game.  I still think a Manup v. Vision v. Vertex on one castle would be a great stream. :)

Why do people always refer to gear in group fights? Vertex average gearscore is about 505-510 atm and it hasn't moved much for months actually, I've never tried to hide our average level of gear. When a groups average gear shoots up into the 530 realm (majority tet boss armor) is when it can really be felt. We don't have anyone below 475 anymore but the majority are 500-515 range. Is this not typical now adays? Looking at most of the top guilds reqs it shows very similar entry level requirements to what we stick with. Sure when someone is 540 gs they will beat someone 510 most of the time but I see guys in the 530+ gs range all over the place in almost all relevant guilds. I remember watching a stream where geekgonemad rolled up and started massacring some guys bullying one of our alt groups at pirates and they were like "yeah that guys like 545 gs" meanwhile, at the time, he was sitting at 510 gs..... At what point is it not just the gear but also skill, class balance, and strategy? I think anyone around 510+ gs has a shot in a tournament like this or in group pvp in general, it will just require them to play together and know how to work as a team vs various other class compositions. No reason to immediately write something like this off if u arent quite at softcap gear! Find a partner and practice some, it will help anyone grow as a player immensely.

Depending on the team comp even 500+ gs can be viable if played well

obviously more gear is better but there's a lot of players with 500ish gs that I think would do quite well in a tournament like this

tbh 500~ gearscore should let people handle most fights if they know their class and the matchups, above that I believe that class balance plays a more important role though that's not for us to fix. As a ranger I have beat warriors with 534 GS with only around 495 in a 1v1 and I don't even consider myself a decent player so it's perfectly possible for people with 500+ to beat 530~ specially if you're not a ranger because most other kits offer way more mitigation and flexibility. (pls give better super armors/iframes).

Was thinking of entering with a friend of mine who's @480 ish :Y He beats the pants off of a lot of level 60 500+ gs people so blooooooop (he also plays warrior though so.... yah there's that :U... 8D)

I'm not sure a 2 vs. 2 makes much sense.  The fights will be lop sided and unbalanced with gear disparity being a big issue.  The Vertex guy is claiming his guild is "only 510" but you know damn well that it'll be some ultra-geared zerker 550+ and some retarded gear ranger with 250+ AP.  Same with the rest of the guilds that go in on this and I won't even mention that they just said all buffs and elixirs are allowed.

Do yourself a favor and just go to RBF.  At least there you don't have to wait several minutes before getting your shit pushed in between rounds.
