Why play BDO when you can play WOW or GW2 ?

146 posts in this topic

BDO : You need a lot of time + $$$$$.  Gear > Level > ALL > ............................ > Skill

WoW :  Level max in few hours   Gear Equalized in Battlegrounds. No endless grind.   Skill based PVP ( 3v3 and 5v5 arena is PURE skill )

GW2 : No need to grind to access WvW ( Node Wars xD ) . Level AND Gear equalized. PVP = Pure skill, again.

Both games have dungeons , raids and lifeskills :D

So , why play BDO ? :/

WoW - shit graphics, shit gameplay, ugly as F characters

GW2 - pretty much the same reason except characters not as ugly

also I prefer to gear my self up and beat up on less geared noobs

that bald monkey running GW2 makes terrible design decision.  He claims that all WvW players are "REALLY INTO PVE!"  LOL.  Stupid, bald and ugly is no way to go through life, son.

AP farm + RNG gearing, really? no "endless" grind....lol

"Skill based PvP" HO HO HO, mate, legion is on bloody auto-pilot, there is only FoTPatch, requirement of skill got severely reduced in WoD, and it got nearly obliterated in Legion, auto-trinket, auto-bubble, further pruning, next thing you know you'll have auto-blink, auto-cast, game will eventually start doing your entire rotation for you.

A few points as to why GW2 at least holds up quite well:

-Fun group content.

-Exploration is the bomb in that, gliders and all that make it even cooler. MUCH smoother movement then in BDO.

-Balanced PvP is nice.

-If you think GW2's graphics are bad.. remember it's from 2012. And you can load in every player on a map (all 100+) while quite easily keeping 60fps. Can't do that in BDO, nope. Sacrificing a bit of fine detail for the overall health is A-OK.

-Living story: Regardless of what you think of it, the new episodes are quite good, and at least it HAS a story... I'm 90% sure you could go to the olvia channels, ask for lore/story stuff, and newbies would be like "there's a story?"

-The community is fantastic. Ask for help with a hero point and people will come help you in mintues, no questions asked.

-VERY ALT FRIENDLY. FFS It sucks in BDO having to rebuy costumes, weight, inv, etc etc...

Just to play devil's advocate.

To clarify, there is nothing wrong with a long grind...under circumstances. Ask yourself, is the grind in BDO FUN in any way? hell no. sure thats just opinion, but its also a general consensus making that person that does somehow find it fun, the odd one out.

Ok, so can i grind it out past the grinding stage to the FUN endgame?...........what endgame? pvp? HAHAH pvp in this game is a joke due to balance. its quite literally dangling a carrot in front of a horse. You GRIND because you think you are grinding for something, but stop and think about it and you are just being a mindless sheep making a few men rich. grinding for an endgame that doesnt exist, making BDO literally just a game about grinding. which is cool for some, but why play a game just to waste the short time life gives us? why play a game that is ran by people with the audacity to blatantly try to waste your LIFE (your time is your life) in order to gain money? to me, thats beyond ludicrous. just my opinion on facts. but if you do find this game fun, good for you, really. i wish i felt the same way because this game has SOOOOOOOO much potential!

Never played WoW cuz it looks like cartoon trash, but I played GW2 for like a month or 2, hit max everything, got everything, got bored and uninstalled.  BDO's timescale or progression or whatever you wanna call it takes much much longer so I'm still having fun woth it *shrug*

balance in pvp and wvw are both terrible.  the fat, bald chimp running analnet cares only about pve, which has gotten quite stale.

Lets be real here:

I didnt play wow, but GW2.

Combat in gw2 "was" super trash (played it b4 expansion like 2-4 months after realease) in BDO pretty much too, but a bit falshier. Enemy AI and boss mechanics utter trash, made worse by servers. Pvp super trash, made worse by servers, cc gang-bang (like some1 mentioned allready) is just no fun and for this kind of pvp we need more iframes ( every class) independant of servers and some sort of unconditional escape (V is just trash, you can iterrupt cancel or straight grab at the right moment and due to servers its all made worse by x10). Pve in gw2 i'd give 6/10 just combat is a turn down for me, but monsters were a little challanging aswell and sometimes you even care about map exploraton. But in BDO pve is later in the game 2-3shot everything on this Ai feels like helping some desperate retards to end their worthless lifes, NOT FUN AT ALL. And takes too long (now ppl gonna say: "AAAAAAKMAN , HYSTREEA" who the fck goes there except for exp and has fun grinding exp??????)

Thats just my opinion, Tera had waaaaaay better pve, bdo can do better.

To put it simply:

WoW - Monhtly payment $15.00, older engine, less sandbox

GW2 - No feeling of progression, grindless (I like grind), lacking competitive gameplay or PvP

Don't confuse this with me dislike these two games, I actually really like WoW and GW2. But, this is the reason I play BDO instead.

the only thing bdo seems to have over that list is grind, is that really enough?

BDO doesn't have monthly payment, BDO isn't on an older engine, BDO is more sandbox, BDO offers a feeling of progression as it's gear and level biased and needs a large time sink. This is all my opinion of course, so BDO has everything I listed above over the other games for me. :P

The ancient "trash" runs at 5x average framerate with 50+ people on screen and loads in ALL players rather than a few at a time

because FPS means a good game right

since bdo is buy to play, there's nothing stopping you from playing bdo+ anything else. Atm I'm playing bdo/warframe/ffxiv, when I get bored of content in one I switch to the other.

Value packs are basically a monthly payment system, progression in this game is 90% rng, and I wouldn't call this game that much of a sandbox (it's open world i guess but that is about it)

But true, so long as you feel it is there (or isn't) that is all that matters I suppose

I actually play GW2 for everything that is related to PvP and BDO for everything else. Guess I tricked the system here!

The moment that one of the two games annoy me too much or a third game becomes more interesting, I'll just move on.

Played WoW for about 10 yrs, started in classic. It was a long way to reach max level and it was hard to clear raid instances. But it was fun cause it was difficult. I like to remember long evenings, clearing BRD in about 7hrs and have made some friends more on friendlist.

But today, you can reach everything so easy! Its just rushing. Group finder, raid finder, endless daily quest (got a legendary item from a daily quest..). No more talking to each other, just rushing.

For me personally, BDO offers pretty graphics and an appealing life-skill system that goes far beyond anything GW2 has.

But that aside, I stick to GW2 for both PvE and PvP. Instanced dungeons, raids and equalized/skill-based PvP is the kind of content I have been looking for. How anyone would pick BDOs gear-carry and brainless grinding over that kind of content remains indeed a mystery to me. Then again, the obvious answer is likely lack of gaming-skills.
