146 posts in this topic

I am playing guild wars 2. But sometimes I log into black desert to afk and collect the free handouts.

P.S. I wish GW2 had something like the black spirit adventure board game. Get on that asap Anet! xD

Why pay 20+ bucks or a subscription for an mmo for PvP when I could just load up dota or for honour? If PvP is aall one cares about why buy an mmo where obviously the development cost and effort goes into non pve features instead of buying a PvP game in which 100% dev time and continued support goes into the activity that I actually want to play...

BDO doesn't have monthly payment, BDO isn't on an older engine, BDO is more sandbox, BDO offers a feeling of progression as it's gear and level biased and needs a large time sink. This is all my opinion of course, so BDO has everything I listed above over the other games for me. :P

They make you pay in other ways.

this is the best words a noob like you could say :D

bdo players, dont like challanges....

we MMO players are not esports athletes

we play the game purely for fun, for the fun of beating up hapless undergeared noobs

if I actually wanted challenge I'd play starcraft or lol instead

Nothing against either GW2 or WoW, it's awesome games both of them, but I get bored to quickly with most commercial MMO's.

Like they release some expansion and I play through the quest-lines in a few days. I complete rest of the content in a few weeks. Than after a few month or so I have farmed all the new PvP/PvE gear and maxed out whatever new crafting thing came out. All I have left to do than is playing alts or do fluff while waiting for yet another new expansion. It's such a tedious cycle.

You also get flamed by whiteknight in those types of games, when you run out of content and get bored lol. Apparently you didn't enjoy "the journey" if you complete couple of hours worth of new quest-lines in a few weeks. I guess those people play 5 minutes a day?

In a game like BDO it's impossible to get bored, because so much stuff to do and no seasonal content&characters caps. That's why I prefer it, even if there's loads of stuff I feel GW2/WoW does better than BDO.

Because I played both for a long time.  I'm tired of them.  I'm not tired of BDO yet - but I'm working on it.

1) Because I feel like it.

2) Never played either of these games, and I didn't see anything that interested me in them, my "WoW" was "aion".

3) Not moving into another MMO anytime soon, unless it happens to be "lost ark".

4) Kind of Interested in the future of this game.

5) Because I feel like it.

6) This is thread is in bad taste.

BDO : You need a lot of time + $$$$$.  Gear > Level > ALL > ............................ > Skill

WoW :  Level max in few hours   Gear Equalized in Battlegrounds. No endless grind.   Skill based PVP ( 3v3 and 5v5 arena is PURE skill )

GW2 : No need to grind to access WvW ( Node Wars xD ) . Level AND Gear equalized. PVP = Pure skill, again.

Both games have dungeons , raids and lifeskills :D

So , why play BDO ? :/

'cause I can ----- !

the '' PURE SKILL '' argument when talking about MMO's is bullshit.
if you want pure skill go play a competitive FPS/MOBA or a fighting game.

BDO: Best of both games.

GW2's Best PVP game, horrible at everything else.

FFXIV Best RPG, PVE mmo: horrible PVP.

Heh, some of us still need their Epeen.

I guess skill lies in GvG/Nodes/Sieges with tactical decisions, but hey, we all know the good'ol "We did it cause of ME, with MY gear etcetcetc...."

FFXIV's Producer wants to put in Jump boost potions that even let you skip parts of the storyline...

I'm an old school mmo player (FFXI ftw) and I love the feeling of progression, I only spend $$$ on costumes.

Geez.....Who wants to skip that storyline though?! It's way to interesting.

It's too slow. FFXIV has a much MUCH better story and has better group content. That is about it. That global CD is horrid, I have more fun on some modern phone app games...lol

haha, so true! That's why i play bard or any melee in that game, playing as a caster is just omg PAINFULLY BORING... I'm trying it out again after the new patch, since they stated some gameplay/skill mechanics were changing.....but we'll see lol...I really miss the story quests( and still have to finish them ) also miss the primal raids...best MMO music & gameplay ever during those fights

@LightningFFXIII-4 Well said!

ofc.
at this point we should call those players tacticians, they make the best calls/plans during war.
doesn't mean they're strong as single player tho, but BDO isn't about single players. it's guild vs guild.

so skilled players in BDO would be those tacticians.

@Ironjaw

Xen's got the best tacticians !

Because, to me it's infinitely more enjoyable than either of those two games? I think my World of Warcraft character, created pretty close to the launch of the game is in the upper 30's. Shows how compelling the game was to me.

I think Guild Wars 2 is a beautiful game that, again for me, is deadly dull.

Black Desert is closer to Lineage 2, I like the leveling and the world and characters are beautiful. So there you go.

Mmorpgs don't need to be pure skill, FPS/mobas aren't necessarily pure skill either, that's decided by game design and the skill involved is different- FPS games have more heavy emphasis on mouse movement skill with aiming, fighting games, (or mmorpgs) tend to be more heavy in muscle memory of combos and abilities as well as awareness of when to use them, mouse movement still plays a role though, whether it's black desert or WoW, good mouse movement by a non-clicker definitely helped efficiency and showed skill.

It's unlikely that a lot of people that mention skill in BDO want it to be pure skill, you probably won't find any such thing anywhere, but it makes a lot of sense for the game to be less hot potato than it currently is. Leading fights in a game where the foundation is a mess doesn't seem to constitute much skill either.

GW2 and WoW have both P2W methods whether its Botting, RMT that you wont see here in BDO.  Also in GW2, they have a gemstore that you can buy extra storage/inventory that can give you some advantage.  Every single MMO I played (FFXI, FFXIV, GW1, GW2) has some form of P2W.  If your really really rich, you can buy gems, turn it to gold and buy legendary weapons which is the highest tier weapons in the game.

GW2's raids are horrendous, WvW is pretty much the same since launch, every single patch they put out just makes the game worse. Living story is a joke.  Class balance/nerfs every quarter.  Not to mention releasing a new class (Revenant) with the expansion then nerfing it to the ground a year later.  GW2's graphics are also terrible, which is extremely noticeable if you have been playing BDO on max settings for months then try to come back to GW2.  BDO's combat is also better and faster than GW2.

The worst is probably the terrible gemstore.  Even if I wanted to sink 200 bucks on their gemstore, there is nothing Good in there for me to buy.  GW2 is pretty much a Free to Play game and without any revenue, its going to die very soon.

GW2, FFXIV and prob WOW as well were great.. Till BDO came out.  BDO's graphics destroyed all other mmo's for me.  I tried watching FFXIV stormblood benchmark video and it felt like I was watching a ps3 game. BDO's graphics is so good (on a great PC) that it makes PS4 graphics look like the ps3's.

stfu with that p2w garbage. Seriously. Pathetic. Getting so damn old. It's not and you should feel bad.

GW2 was a huge -----ing joke though. I was so excited for that game while playing GW as a kid. Disgusting. It was ruined by that man.

I knew I was not the only person to say graphics are important. I did not build a high-end gaming PC to play any game with graphics that look dated........... SWTOR is a great example of a game with graphics that belong on a console in 2010. SWTOR will be the last MMO I play with dated graphics, only because I have so much invested in that game, like many WOW players have invested in that game and the only real reason "we" go back to those old games.

I actually think BDO is lots of fun, my only real complaint with BDO is its way overpriced pearl shop.

Lmao someone seriously got triggered by the fact that GW2 and BDO are both P2W.  If you haven't won yet then you just haven't paid enough yet.  GW2 lets players buy 8000 gems for 100 dollars which you can convert to around 2000 gold.  A legendary weapon can be bought on the Black Lion Trading Company for 4000 gold.  To me, GW2 is more P2W than BDO.  Get out of the house and breathe some air for once.  That's like buying silver from the pearlshop and using said silver to buy a TET muskan.

I'm an ex-WoW hardcore player so listen to me.

The latest content on WoW is repetitive grinding. You will do the same thing for months and months until the new content which comes out yearly.

Another thing that brings me down is WoW is $15 per month + $60 for new content yearly.

BDO is just 10 dollars for perm if you start now. Used to be higher but the past doesn't matter anymore.

Op doesn't even know what hes posting.

1. (wow) Skillesss pvp? LOL You mean class based,it's no different than bdo  class > skill
2. GW: No need to grind to acess wvw? Really? Because if you go into wvw at any lvl with shit gear you will get shit on. the wvw only increases your hp,Doesn't give you stats that gear would give you... Like i dono.. Actual stats.. Toughness... torment to attack.. attack power.. etc.. ,Were you planning on saying any facts here? Cause i've yet to see one. The only place gear is equalized is in battleground que in gw2,NOT WVW,Atleast know what your talking about before shitposting.

3. I would not consider GW2 having raids only dungeons.

Op why even be on the bdo forums? Their forums are the same right?

YES.

Also good netcode which this lacks as well.

Not really. It takes alot more than fps and netcode for a game to be considered "good".
