Trading vs Pure AH.

I've been trying things, to see which makes money the fastest for me. And so far, it seems that purely selling things on the AH for max cost, that my workers get, makes 5 to 10 million every day, with me on top of that, able to fish afk for another 1 million, and get about 2 scrolls worth of relics each day, that in turn, gets me mem frags and black stones. And doing this will take like 3 minutes TOPS, each day, of personnel interaction with the game. And when I say personnel interaction, I mean, actually having to click on things, and not just afk processing.

In contrast, if I try to do any trade route, it costs me black stone powder, to about 50 a day, if I push the workers, and maybe I'll make 3 million a day, but granted still have plenty of other raw materials I'll still go to the AH with, to make maybe 2 to 3 million with. But, in this path, I won't be fishing as much, and will be chopping wood or smelting like crazy, and do less fishing. As for the trade goods I try to make are Calpheon Timber Crates, and Steel Ingot Crates, if not Box of Titanium Ingots. Doing this route takes a good hour of personnel interaction with the game, mostly because I have to load up on wood or ore, to slightly less than my max weight, do processing, while watching, and waiting, and the click more to further refine the first processing, like from wood to planks to plywood, etc.

So all of the above said, am I missing something on the trading aspect, as it does not seem worth the effort. I think it would be better to have my workers just get raw material and then either AH them, or outright vendor sell them.

I think the thing you're missing is master 2 trading

One tip I can give is to not transport your materials to often if you do it manually. Let them build up for a while and then use the horse overload trick since it takes the same time to move 10k and 100k timbers as long as they are in 1 stack.

I've always felt that its more interesting to do life skills in cycles instead of doing everything at the same time every day.

Before you get the M2 buff, your best move by far is selling plywood(the ones used for Calpheon&Mediah crate) at the marketplace. Only downside is missing out on trade EXP.

Making crates takes more time, requires transportation(if guild lacks summon skills),consumes black stone powder and less profit. The recent nerf to 100% max prices when selling crates, made M2 buff more or less mandatory for crate production. In the past you could channel hop and only sell for 130-120% and still make profit at lower trade levels.

As a comparison I'd make roughly 130k each Calpheon Crate as Artisan trader + bargain if selling in Valencia, so was smarter to sell the mats with value pack bonus. Now with M2 buff +bargain I make around 200k each crate selling in Valencia.

When it comes to selling timber v.s plywood, it's a matter of your processing success rate and processing level. You want alchemy life stone buff, upgraded craftsman's clothes and preferable artisan 1 processing for making plywood. If you never want to bother with any of that stuff, than go ahead and keep selling timber.

indeed, I'm leveling trading right now, started around a week ago  I'm not at artisan 3, with current exp gains of 2 - 3 % every 3 minutes it should only take me a few days to hit master and then another day probably and do quests for it, I was already making money just processing bought wood and then making crates out of it but marketplace with value pack was better.. Now I'm saving them all up and  I can push out 60 crates per hour if it needs to be,   I'm missing the alchemy stone for my processing succes rate and its the one thing holding me back from not making more money..
