Melee Vs. Ranged

Greetings all!

I was only able to play a for a short period of time in the beta, because of this I was unable to experience any of the games pvp.

My question is: How do melee fair in pvp against ranged classes?  I have watched a handful of gameplay videos and it appears that some of the melee classes do have closers, but for every closer I saw it appeared the ranged classes have many ways to escape your touch.  

Any response from players that have had real pvp experience in the game would be most appreciated!:D

Depends on the class. Warriors, berserkers, and valkyries can stun, knockdown, and grab. Because of the light defense of ranged classes, if you can lock down the ranged class and close, you can kill them quickly by CC and crit combos. It's the same as other fighting games that way. How do you beat sub zero when he has ranged and you guy only has close in attacks?

Okay, so lets dig into that a bit.  What CC's do ranged players have that are big problems for melee?  I know that Wizards can freeze enemies, but im not sure how that works in pvp.  Rangers have a slow, again im not sure how effective it is against players.

my Sorc was able to tear apart my brothers ranger 90% of the fights. the dashing is pretty good for gap closing. granted we were only lvl 16's at the end of the beta when we dueled. but still, i dont see it as to bad in this game since all the classes are fairly mobile

Since my post I have continued with extensive research into the matter and it would appear that many of the melee can hold their own.  The melee that don't hold up usually excel in group combat rather than 1v1.  Which for a game that seems to be mostly centered around group combat , I don't foresee this being an issue.

I keep reading ppl talking about the CC chains + kockdown for mele classes to explain how mele can keep up with ranger/wiz.

So if we do not get an answer that our release will not be with the CC immun buff, i feel like anyone rolling warrior/valkyrie/zerker/sorc and hopping to do very well in pvp will be very disappointed.

Until awakening weapons come out, Range >>>> Melee.  On NA, we will have the CC nerfs without awakening weapons to balance it out.  Ask anybody who played on KR, rangers are miles ahead of every class in pvp and will stay like that until awakening weapons are released.

 Rangers are miles ahead in large scale PVP (Node or region war.) On my sorc i rip rangers into lil shreds 1v1 2v2 3v3 in arena. So if you wanna spam rain of arrows or w/e that skill is called and put little to no effort into pvp play a ranger. JUST BE WARNED. In 1v1 as a ranger you will need to kite your ass off and play smart.

 

 Played in KR just before awakens were released so some things may have changed since then.
