I know right, hopefully player loot will be back some way or the other, they said they were looking into it.

I'm not trying to bait anyone stop assuming. I stumbled upon the article and thought it had some interesting mechanics (like the guild paths for example) and wanted to share. I'm not saying this is how the game should have been or anything.

Thanks, this is a nice read. Depressing but nice to know how it originally was planned. I like the pitch black nights video

Open world houses! At the initial stage of Black Desert all the houses were open world, they predicted to have 2000+ houses in the whole world, and all those houses were open world. That meant, the first person to buy the house, would be the only one who could own it.

I remember hearing that now, and my reaction is the same as it was back then.

The amount of abuse you would have gotten for owning a house would limit it to large guildmembers only. So glad they went with a system closer to EQ2's.

Yes, after having played AA and seeing how that turned out it worried me that BDO would ever have this system but you can deny the satisfaction you would get from having your own plots of lands in AA. Maybe one day devs will figure out how to make it work.

The property market was one of the most interesting constructs ive seen that came about in a sandbox from player interactions. The only issue was the completely useless anti-hack system.

Daum happened.

try again.... The open world housing and all the major changes are Pearl changes not DAUM.

The player trading is DAUM ideal most likely to combat botting and gold sellers. DAUM did say they will look into changed of this with the feedback they get

issue with AA is XL Studio made everything client side then server side. BDO did have open word housing but saw how AA had a lot of issues and changed it. I find BDO housing set up better then FF

I read an interview where all the casualized features were suggested by Daum to appeal to the mobile audience (as Kakao makes most of their profits there). I think the housing was a good change myself, but the others, not so much.

Pearl is the one who makes the decisions, yes, but it was Daum that started asking for changes after the Korean betas. While it started off incredibly hardcore by normal standards, the game was made more casual to increase the player base and things such as player looting on death was removed as well as smaller things like OW player housing and every item that could be sold in a cash shop (dyes, skins, ect) were rammed in there for obvious reasons.

It's a bit sad knowing these things are lost, but do you think the game would've ever survived long enough or even gotten big enough to be released outside of Korea if these changes weren't made?

The housing thing doesn't really bother me that much. The removal of the raid/open world bosses thing really saddens me though, would be awesome to tackle those things with a guild and craft "epic armors".

Brian Oh: Even though we haven’t finalized the leveling curve in our Game, I can tell you that the estimate from level 1 to 50 is around 200 real hours. Afterwards the curve becomes steep and reaching the final level will require a similar amount of time as in the old Lineage days. But as I said, we haven’t finalized it yet and I can’t give you a concrete answer of what the level cap might be.

Imagine the QQ if 1-50 was 200 hrs, people already saying 20 is too much lol.

Actually, I was thinking how AWESOME that sounded.

Interesting read... now I understand where some of the... "this isnt what I signed up for" came from.

As someone who played EQ1 I would laugh my butt off at anyone who cried over 200 hours.

When it came out I was in my teens. My parents took a trip to Hawaii, leaving me without supervision. Think I threw a party? Nope.

I played Everquest 24/7 for (literally) 3 days straight to grind guards at a guardtower in West Karanas. All that fetched me fewer than half a dozen levels.
