QQ not qq.

Ok, throughout the forum threads I see this mis-use of the acronym being incorrectly used so here goes....

Contrary to popular belief, QQ is not a set of crying eyes. It actually originated with the advent of Warcraft II. On battlenet, you could press ALT+Q+Q to immediately exit the match and program. Thus the term "QQ" was to tell people to just quit because they are unskilled. The term later developed and lost it's origin and is usually mistaken as crying eyes.

In contemporary gamer culture, QQ has become the mainstream emoticon for crying eyes, though it is still often used in it's traditional sense.
"Shut up or QQ!"
"Why don't you QQ, noob?"

So if we are going to use it to indicate "crying" can we please use the correct QQ and NOT qq.

Thankyou.

nb, I now pre-empt your replies by saying anyone who now uses qq in reply to this post is indeed a noob. :P

Speaking of people incorrectly using things...

An acronym is an abbreviation used as a word and formed from the initial components in a phrase or a word, usually individual letters (as in NATO or laser) and sometimes syllables (as in Benelux).

I learned something new today, I never actually use "QQ" since I think whoever uses it has the brain capacity of a walnut but still.

Well today they do, but back in the days (if you played WC2 on battle.net) it was quite common. But then again, it had a different meaning back then ;)
