Its Time - Things I Wish I Had Known Sooner (Please Contribute)

So with over 80 hours played, 70 energy, 75 CP, I thought I would share some of the "Things I wish I had known sooner" that I have learned the hard way....

1) Wagons are for sale from the Stable NPC.  Same as the ones you craft and those are a huge pain to craft.  2-3 hours of fishing will let you afford a 14 slot wagon.

2) I should have prioritized the Inventory slot quests first.  Now that the cash shop is coming it wont matter as much, but if you don't have the funds, there are lists of the inventory quests that give a total I think of +31 slots.

3) I do NOT have to rescue every damn cat I see on a roof just because some little girls asks me to.  (Ok, I will, but still, you don't have to take every quest, there are just too many).

4) The Investment Bank is kinda pointless.  Ties up 5 gold bars (500k silver) for 24 hours along with a worker.  Got back +31k silver (10 common fish). Worker could have been doing a lot more.

5) I should be specializing.  I'm not.  I'm in the top 20 of all rank catagories because I cant ignore every quest I see (see Cat above).  I like being a jack of all trades, but it is limiting.

6) Something I did know, but want to reiterate - Make as many alts as you can.  You only need to get them to level 4 (for fast switching) which takes about 3 min. You are one Family, and you share everything except each alt has their own energy pool.  So you can use them to invest in nodes, or take 10 energy knowledge conversations, or do trash harvesting/production, etc.  It benefits the Family.  They gain 1 energy every 30 min offline.

7) Another in the I did know but want to make sure you do - NEVER log out.  The game rewards you for staying logged in.  AFK fish, AFK lay in bed, AFK a long trade route or run, etc.

8) When you hide the UI (CTRL-U) you can detach the camera and make some incredible screenshots.

9) Traders will keep offering you quests till your fingers fall off.  You don't have to keep doing them, sigh.

10) Make a plan for your days accomplishments before you log in.  You know, so you can throw it away as soon as some little girls asks you to rescue her cat.

11) Combat is optional, really.  Sure PvP guild wars and node conquest might be the end game, but I am level 25 and haven't done combat levelling since 13.  All life skills.

12) You can buy the end game armor sets as soon as you want, they are not level restricted.  Go on MarketPlace (AH) and get a full set of Agarian if that's your classes set, etc.

13) Channel (global chat) uses 1 energy per message.  Resist responding to every troll chat line you see.

14) You can make a life in any city you want.  You don't need to rush for the capital or other cities.  I'm living out of Velia and loving it.

15) There are not Node Managers for cities, not in the sense that you have to spend CP to active a city node.  City Nodes you get just by visiting, and they are the starting hubs (or middle or end) for your node link chains.

16) Make more beer, workers are thirsty bastards.

17) Trade missions come in two forms, trade a specific item until you have sold X silver worth of it, trade a single item one time and then see a specific trader for reward.  When doing the former, use the 14 slot wagon and go as far as you can (more silver per item).  When doing the latter use a fast horse as they can carry it and get it done faster

18) Wait to do any trade quests until after you have a wagon. Don't walk around with a pack on your back like a pleb. (Though you can walk around with one on your back to raise strength (carry capacity))

19). Guild missions "[Subjugation] Protect the villagers" scale with the highest level player(s) in the guild, meaning people who are not in the same range of level are unable to contribute towards it as they will pretty much die trying to fight them.

20) Using thick rod (+1 level) and apprentice fishing costume (+1 level) and paste bait (+2 levels) which actively fishing really cuts down the time per cast too. invest into Cooking and make Exotic Herbal Wine (30 minutes +1 fishing) or Fruit Wine (60 minutes +1 fishing)

21) If you find yourself running out of quests early on, open your quest log (press O) and click the "All" button on the top right. It'll make all quests available for combat, life, etc.

22) Visit every ! and every ? on your minimap.  And when riding around, you can spin your camera to spot those in passing you might not see if looking straight ahead. (Also a good way to spot wild horses)

23) Talk to those NPCs but not all of them: some of them offer extra quest, knowledge, shop option if your Amity is high enough. The history exchange mini game (conversation) costs 2 energy. If you win a round, keep on playing at no energy cost. If your character doesnt know the subjects that interest that NPC, you can always *salute* him while close to him (f3, costs 3 enery, rewards a bit of amity).  (you can also Wave at them for some quick amity)

24) You can fast swap between alts if they are level 4+ (takes about 5 min to get level 4).

25) Right now, you have to actually log out and back in or change to an alt to get your daily loyalty rewards

Taking enough sugar lumps and ropes to tame a horse, those little beggars can be fussy.

No joke, I haven't logged out since conq headstart began! I do EVERYTHING AFK. It's beautiful!  :D

To make that beer, invest in tatos! Find a tato field and have one dedicated worker for that field!

I wish I had known sooner the casual nature in which Daum disregards my money and time. Fool me twice, shame on me though.

Jaysus Xrist on a popsicle stick. I wanted to make a second char once I found a good enough wep drop... didn't realize these benefits that I'm sure I would have had I done so like 5 days ago.

No.  For which I am glad.  I wish you couldn't buy the wagons from the stable guy, it removes the need to make the versions you can buy from him (3 tiers worth)

Yep, I have one worker who does nothing but gather taters all day long

Really? Take this crap elsewhere, there are a ton of threads for whining about non-issues.  It is a beautiful incredible game that for once lets you do things other than rush to endgame and you are whining because the morning maintenance is taking alittle longer?

This is so -----ing true. I started out thinking I will do every quest I see. Boy was I mistaken, doing it that way will seriously overload your head.

Life lesson learned : Take it step by step, and you will eventually reach your goal.

Nice list, tend to agree on everything. It's been a number of years since I've been this engrossed in an MMORPG, probably because it's been a number of years since anyone has actually made an MMORPG instead of a combat lobby grinder. Only thing out there like BDO is EVE, and it gets old looking at a spaceship on a black screen.

Haven't killed anything in days, and yet I'm nearing 30 and have a fat bank account. More quests than I can possibly do. Every mechanic I've tried has been fun. Thanks for saving the genre for me, Pearl Abyss.

Nope, walking around with one on your back is about the only way to raise strength (if you care to do so, I'm going to buy a weight limit increase cash shop item)

8) How? :)

Camera mode allows you to take fantastic screenshots. You can activate camera mode by hitting Ctrl + U, the same command will disable camera mode.

Camera Mode Controls

<↑>, <↓>, <←>, <→>: Move the camera view.

<Ctrl> + <↑>, <↓>: Adjusts the camera focus (Highlight function).

<Shift> + <↑>, <↓>: Adjust the field of view (FOV).

<Shift> + <←>, <→>: Tilt the camera to the left or right.

<Ctrl> + <Shift> + <↑>, <↓>: Apply a color filter.

<Ctrl> + <Shift> + <←>, <→>: Apply the film noise.

It does, but it's annoying as hell to do those quests that way. I would rather wait for afk auto-routing functions to be in-game to level that stuff up.

Btw, I saw you out fishing on your little raft last night Arche  ;) So glad that we can do that and not worry about being pushed off or ran over!

Yep, that's pretty much my goto sleep overnight activity.  Will be great once I can use Steel Rod (got one waiting in warehouse) but thick rods are nice.
