SOLUTION FOR BLACK SCREEN LAUNCHER

You have to click on properties of BDO and you execute compatibility with 256 colors, the image will look bad but you can connect your account and accept the terms.
Once accepted you can start the game, and you can also disable the colors to be perfectly see.
It has worked for me.

I found that if you just wait, it comes on b itself - it seems to be just waiting for a connection. The first time it took almost 5 minutes to appear.

Unfortunately, this has not solved the problem for me :'(

I appreciate you making a post to help those of us with this issue though. I haven't really seen any info on the black screen launcher anywhere.

It's okay, I had issues with the ArcheAge launcher when I first started playing that too. Hopefully my issue gets sorted out at some point as well. I CAN get the graphics to appear when I launch BDO Windows XP (service pack 2 and 3 both work) as well as Windows 95 in compatibility mode; however, the launcher immediately crashes.

Hey guys, a friend of mine is having this same issue, he cannot login or click play because the area to enter login info on the launcher is all black. Hes tried a bunch of things, all to which have failed, he also for some reason couldnt find the black desert installation folder, wierdly enough. Anyone know any possible fixes?

If you are on a laptop with multiple graphics cards, (like me) none of the suspected "solutions" worked for me. Except 1. I had the blacked out launcher, and weeded through these forums until 3 am yesterday. I found one that had my answer. so without further ado here is how you fix this problem.

Go to control panel on your pc.

go to device manager.

open the section called "display adapters" it will have the list of all your gpu's,

now disable either of them. (just 1 not both)

bing bang boom you (Should) now  be able to see the launcher, and log in/accept the eula. after you can press play to start the game just re-enable the gpu you disabled.then you're done. Have fun.

Pictures below as proof.

This worked for me after I had to shut my computer off and turn it back on. After disabling the weaker graphics card my whole screen went black. But now it's all good and I can see the launcher. Thank you!

While the suggestion above did work in my case, it was only a partial win. My laptop has an added amd vid card, and disabling the intel HD graphics killed the port that allows me to have a second screen. Digging into my AMD settings, I noticed that my BDO launcher, as well as the game, was flagged to be launched in "High Performance". The original post to lower the colors to 256 indicated that perhaps the launcher is not as "high def", so I lowered the proc to "power save" for the launcher. This change has fixed my issue and I can see the login area as intended.

Hope this helps someone in the future.

Thanks for this. It worked for me as well. Support for this game sucks!
