By default, everybody is put in the International channel, which is a really bad thing.

The community on the EU servers is constantly arguing about whether its language should be English only.

That is why the International channel is full of racist, hateful comments which ruins the experience even for those who are not bothered by foreign messages.

There may be other channels, but most people don’t know about them, so these are totally deserted and unusable.

In my opinion the solution for this would be to NOT have the International channel as default.

Instead, the default channel should be decided by our client’s language settings (with the possibility to hop between channels).

This way nobody would feel bad about speaking their own language since it wouldn’t be considered rude, like it currently is.

TL;DR - The default language channel should be decided by the client's language settings instead of putting everybody in the International channel.

I’m open to any suggestions.

Let’s stop the hate in our community!

Please tell me if you agree or disagree below!

Is it even technically possible to do this?  I mean, read the client (browser's) language setting THEN direct them to a specific page (language section)?  It would be both cool and scary if a website could do that.  The way I usually see it done is the drop-down selecting the language will send one to the appropriate section.

I also agree with that. Still, there is more people on the world that understand English, than any other language. Maybe as "native language" most spoken is Mandarin or Spanish - but not as an International Language and that much universal like English is.

I think you misunderstood, this discussion is about in-game chat channels. :)
You can set your client's language both in your launcher and via the in-game options.

Ah-ha!  I was thrown, as I just clicked "International" on the forums to get to here, so it was fresh in my brain.  Thanks for setting me straight.;)

Mainly because English is SOOOOOoooo easy to understand by natives and non-natives (often) when spoken (butchered) by non-native speakers.  Many languages are not as forgiving, thus are not as easy to communicate in.  Guess ol' ingrish is the world's dumbed-down language... with the most words, of course.  That's the hardest part about learning English (apart from the odd grammar/spelling rules here and there) is the sheer VOLUME of vocabulary.

I am not sure it's working since I haven't bothered to check but I am sure I read in one of their pre-launch notes that the default channel would be the same as your chosen clients language.

Edit: Found my source. It was mentioned in the last PM Diary. Under the category "Chat filter system & Channel clusters" they state: "In case you didn’t notice in CBT-2, you can chose a language channel of your liking. By default it will be now set to the choice of language of your client."

I hope the devs realise this feature didn't actually work on launch and they patch it in soon. European servers are packed full of people arguing about language and nationality, it crowds up the channel chat with useless nonsense.

10/10 post. I changed it to "english" as soon as the servers opened last sunday, so luckily I haven't seen the madness that is the "international" channel.
