Why do I have to buy this game?

Not sure where this goes, so I'll stick it here.

I signed up a few hours ago, and I am just now finally able to confirm my account. Only to find out I have to BUY the game. WHY? The Korean version is free. I was really excited to finally be able to play this game. Now? Now I'm disappointed. The devs have a lot of nerve...... Years of development, gamers everywhere on pins and needles, stalking their favorite update sites, and now you have to buy the game.

And don't give me that crap about I'm just mad I don't have money to buy it. While yes, most people don't, I don't think it's fair to put a price tag on a game unless it's supposed to be pay to play, everyone knows there are plenty of subscription MMOs. Founder's Packs, are fine, I can deal with that. But to put that as a Pay Wall just to get the game, not cool.

I can only hope the game becomes available for free. But I'm not going to hold my breath.

There are some benefits on B2P titles that F2P titles lack. DAUM thinks the B2P model is more appropiate for the West, and they have given us some benefits in exchange (ie the haircuts on character creation are all free). However, I do think cash items should be reduced to better reflect the B2P model, which usualy has cheaper stuff than F2P.

wow. I'm just saying it's rather dumb to have the game only available when you buy their stupid version of a founder's pack. I mean I signed up for the Korean game, and never had to pay. Not one penny. I realize they need money, but subscription or cash shop would be better.

Wait you don't think there should be prices on games? So people who's living relies on making these games should make them and give them out for free? And wait, people don't have a measly 30$ to get the game, get real... Most of us here have iPhones, iPods, iPads, Itampons and other things that have an I. Don't try to tell me or anyone else you don't have 30$. It would be nice if I could go out to a nice place to eat and not pay. My body needs food to survive why should I pay for it? Sound stupid yet? If you don't have 30$ to buy a game to play you probably shouldn't have spent hundreds on a computer would be my honest opinion.

The  buy to play model is far superior to the subscription model as you only have to buy it once  and can pick it up or put it down any time you want feeling like you got your money worth .

How many games have failed through free to play games?..lots. If this would have become free to play, there would be a subscription model too which most free mmos have that also restrict content for free players but get all access if you sub

Different region have different mindset about game.

In Korea, BDO has P2W option beside cosmetic, which allow the players to get advantage by cash. In the West, people have concept of equality, so they don't like the P2W model. So ? The game become B2P for 2 main reasons : to keep the P2W option away, and to keep the gold selling which is common on every F2P game. There are also more feature changed to adapt with the B2P option, but they are minor compare to the 2 above.

They have already announced the game to be B2P in the West months ago, and many of us actually agree with this idea. If you think this is unfair, go play other similar F2P games, it's your privilege, and theirs, too. Years of development, and you say they are not allowed to take profit from it ? That's a bit self-entitled.

A company spends a ton of money to develop the game for the NA / EU release, a heap of money for the infrastructure and then you want it for free? A one off charge, never pay another single cent if you do not want to and you are whining? Let me guess, mummy and daddy wont give you their CC?

Or you could use a 7 day free code. I am sure one of these members on the forum will be generous enough to give you a free code

The game could be free months from now but youll be way way behind. Just buy it, its $30, get a job or so some chores for people in your neighborhood. Think of it as a quest, 6 hours of work for a possible infinite amount of gameplay. Carpe BDO!

So, people with their fancy cell phones can obviously afford the 50.00 pay wall. Big whoop. Not everyone can afford a nearly one thousand dollar phone. Food, is a necessity, yes. But there are options. Ramen, anyone? Pizza and ramen. the food of champion gamers. Just stating my dislike for the price wall. But hey, I know the devs need their paychecks too.

Go play KR version then, another topic about the same (1000th or more?). If you want subscription and p2w go play TERA and AA.

B2P keeps more 12 year olds out of the game... We got benefits in exchange of it being B2P and if anything, less people taking up names that probably wont even play for more than an hour like any other F2P.

Can't completly agree with you there, B2P would be really a lot better then Sub or F2P, if everything was unlocked and at fingers crasp, but games like GW2 atleast make it really a lot of work to get what you can simply buy with cash, causing many people to actually spend a lot more real money in the game then the few $ for a sub.

Sub-models make it far easier to achieve something, have an alternative cash shop usually that really doesn't offer that much.

While F2P rely heavily on people buying something in order to make it work. There are very few that managed to make it work without going P2W.

And let's be honest BDO says it's a B2P game, but in reality it's the same F2P (with a few very slight changes to KR).

I would have glady payed a subfee knowing i could get the full experience, then what we get with BDO

BDO pack is 30 euro (around 30$) for life access.

I don't care paying that amount knowing all other MMO games around are subscription MMO model, or pay to win model, or free to play with cash shop to progress.

You don't want to pay 30$ ? Fine, that's your choice, it was nice to meet you, but please stop posting what you think the game model should be in EU/NA region.

How much does your Mom pay you in allowance each week? I bet if you save up you can afford it.

when they prepared this for the western/eu we basicly told them we did not want a f2p game ,they made it a B2P based on what the majority of players wanted and so we got it ..thats all other wise we'd have the same thing that kr and russia have
