No Trading is a cheap and poorly-thought-out solution to RMT

On the surface, the prohibition of trade seems like a good option to prevent RMT. It's cheap, because it's hands-off for Daum but it hurts the social, interactive nature of this MMO.

People play these kind of games with friends and like to help each other and work together, this is why Clans and Guilds exist. I (and many others) believe that the 'cure' here is worse than the disease in some ways.

It's a complicated issue. We all know that. The reality is though, that if you apply a simple, sweeping solution to a complicated problem, you end up missing the mark to some extent.

My suggested adjustments to trading are as follows:

1) Allow Clan/Guildmates to trade with each other w/o restriction once they've been a member for over 24 hours.(Some have suggested much longer, such as 2 weeks to a month)

2) Apply a 24 hour cooldown on clan/guild joining/leaving for each player. (Minor Code Change [Probate debuff?])

3) Log all clan/guild membership changes. (New DB probably, not a crazy amount of work)

4) Log all trades (Another DB, again, not too hard with this level of operation and one would hope is already happening.)

5) Flag all accounts for investigation who: Join a clan/guild AND immediately trade for goods/coin in excess of 100,000s AND leave that guild immediately.

6) Have a few actual human beings investigate all flagged accounts, at least initially until the bugs are worked out.

7) Ban anyone verified as knowingly participating in RMT. Daum already has their $30+ if they wanna come back they can ante up again.

This is just an example, I'm a SysAdmin, not a DBA but I know this is not only possible, but relatively easy and cheap. Note that the steps through 5 are automated and once the flags are refined a bit would result in a very robust detection system.

Increase that 24 hour probationary period to 2 weeks to a month and it is good.

This alone would kill the Market. Imagine a guild of 100 members, trading in-house. Every guild would start traiding in-house since just a solo player could get a ton of materials just by themselves. Gear would just be kept by the huge grind-guilds and the world would just get this power-shift where a few very dedicated power-houses have an advantage.

As it is now we are all part of the same economy, and its becomes a better PvP enviroment and competition. Thats how I believe and feel anyway.
I really love the trading in this game as it is now.

Interesting points. I'm not sure I agree with your conclusions but I need to think about it some more.

My initial reaction is basically that Isn't that the point of a guild? To work together to help each other progress over other guilds/randoms?

My reaction to the current trading system (and many others as well) is that we don't WANT to charge our friends for stuff. Why is the game MAKING us do it?

what market? what economy? This game has no market and no economy. Its economy is of single player game. Everyones economy is restricted to them and them only. Are you really against trading because it would allow people to trade? Because thats how it looks like. Trading is meant to give advantage to people who trade.

you cant kill market that doesnt exist, but you can create a free market by removing restrictions, not only it would be good long term for economy, pvp and emergent gameplay, but it would also increase socialisation aspects of the game, because players could actualy interact with eachother.

Yes free market can be exploited, some players can gain advantage over another BUT THATS WHAT IS SO GOOD ABOUT IT. Its supposed to be competition between players, its emergent content. When someone gains control over market and resources its because he earned it.

Its really sad that this game has so many socialist/communistic restrictions. I thought we learned that lesson in real world.

Then work together. Help your guildees level and earn it themselves. Instead of just giving it to them.

To your subject, it's certainly the cheapest solution in the short term.

There's more to this game than killing mobs.

For example; We can collaborate to do a guild harvesting mission but then we can't collaborate by combining those harvested resources?

It's completely illogical. It's even contrary to the explicit text/theme of the gathering missions themselves.

It's just one example. I could go on and on.

competition should stay on the battlefield , NOT in the game economy. If you want to have competition in economy trading , then GO BE a DAY TRADER IRL on Forex or WallStreet  or someplace and let the rest of us ENJOY actual gameplay that makes sense for competition. Not irritatin Pay2Win Play2Pay Pay2Play or welfare boost my buddies and guildmates

As far as im concerned, there should be no restrictions at all. All i see is Daum putting in stuff that ends up hurting the entire game to fight these "gold sellers".

There will always be third party sellers and no matter what, they will find a way to gift items to others. All of these restrictions ends up hurting everyone but them.
