severe irritation Why am I unsheathing my weapons and sprinting every time I dismount?

So every time I get off my horse when it's moving, my character decides to unsheathe their weapons.. and then start sprinting if I continue to move.  This causes me to have to waste my time sheathing my weapons to run faster and get back on my horse, and causing me to run smack into walls when attempting to strafe.

It's been irritating me more and more and more the longer I play the game and I can't find a solution to resolving it.

I am finally creating a thread about it to ask why the hell it's happening, and how to stop it.

Does anyone suffer this or know how to stop it?  Tried to search but came up empty.

Ikr its nice if youre going to attacks mobs, but as a mage, sheathing takes to long to do, when youre just going to talk to an npc xD

You also unsheathe ur weapons when talking to npc's. Even on idle the witch goes combat mode.

Slipping by nearly unnoticed, I see..

Leads me to believe most people don't have this issue, or don't see it as a problem.

I've definitely noticed this on my warrior as well. Nothing game breaking but is definitely annoying.

I've not noticed it on my Tamer, but then I don't think I've ever jumped off while moving. It definitely happens every time I get thrown when training mount skills.

Pretty sure it's a combat feature. If you are getting off in a hurry it means you need to kill something, so your character draws their weapon. It's not a way you would normally dismount a horse unless there was something wrong. The solution of course is to slow down first, then get off. But imagine if this was reversed, and you were attacked, and needed to hop off and defend yourself, only for the animation to end with you standing in non-combat stance getting a battle axe to the face? Not so good.

Slow and steady dismount = relaxed non-combat stance.

Quick and dirty rapid dismount = poised combat ready stance.

Thiss.  I don't think its a bug.  Its part of the game design.

As for the sprinting, that's just the immersion factor. Just like your character or horse doesn't stop immediately, but their momentum carries them forward, if you jumped of a moving horse you would have to match the inertia when you land.

Normally I land on my head and roll around for a bit :$

Well, that's because you were fighting with your horse, and that's the kind of power they wield over us. lol

snip

Some pretty big defense for the game there.

1) Your character stops when you dismount; only one step is taken regardless of speed.  Nothing changes if moving backwards; same animations. Dismounting while turning is impossible.

2) You don't immediately go into sprint; it starts sprinting after a second or two.  This serves absolutely no purpose.  If I wanted to sprint, I'd sprint.

3) You don't immediately unsheathe your weapons if you're moving. They get unsheathed at the same time you start to sprint.

4) Your weapons immediately come out if you do not start moving.  You don't sprint either if you decide to move afterward.

5) It doesn't matter if the horse is in mid gallop or just started to walk .1 second prior; you unsheathe your weapons and start sprinting.

And #5 points out why this is a huge issue. You grab some items from your warehouse, mount, start to move and think "oops, forgot this one item" and dismount, only to take out your weapons next to the warehouse keeper and sprint into the wall.

If this is a game mechanic, it's an incredibly stupid one that is designed poorly.  Just like the design that you stab if you unsheathe your weapons while moving (which the weapons magically appear in your hands).  The time it takes to have a horse come to a dead stop is exceptionally long (god forbid you turn), and as such I never come to a full stop before dismounting unless I afk traveled.

Your weapons are automatically unsheathed if you use a skill (with the same magic from above). If you manually sheathe/unsheathe your weapons (or choose to mount) then you stand there for 1-2 seconds wasting time.  Another 1-2 seconds of time wasted mounting and dismounting.

It's all designed very poorly.

So, now, we need an option to disable this, along with the unsheathe stab.  That, or change it so it doesn't happen while in safe zones, which I can't believe isn't the case already.

I find that if I really slam on the brakes first I'll still hop off the back but not go into combat mode.

isn't that apart of the quick dismount horse skill? or have I've been gone too long to notice a new bug.
