It still seems so bright to me. Can I get an official response for when this will approximately be implemented? (✿◡‿◡)

Gama slider say's "hi". Although some areas i find it quite easy to spot enemies at night and others (such as the Hex) it can be a real pain but still better than lighting yourself up like a christmas tree using the lantern.

Darker nights weren't implemented because of feedback DAUM EU received after our CBTs.

.... People claimed it made the game too hard. *facedesk*

ive set the colors right on my monitor and the nights are almost pitch black.

Fix it your end, or, use the in game color overlay setting features to set some atmospheric colors you're happy with.

Problem with suggesting that is... you won't achieve the same balance.

Have you tried playing with the sliders? It's impossible to achieve a realistic atmosphere.

photofilter - cool

Adjust Gama - -20%

Adjust contrast - 20%

Adjust vision range - 58

Looks great on my 2k asus panels and on my mrs' 1080p asus panel.

Given it a try your end.

Nope, still has that annoying blue tint.

BTW, blue spectrum light is harder on the eyes. Not ideal for long gaming sessions. The warmer the colors, the better.

I'll have to find the post (unless someone else can manage to find it), but shortly after launch, the CM here confirmed that our current brighter nights (since launch) is in fact a bug and is not intended. The nights are supposed to be near pitch black regardless of graphics settings, because people are supposed to be forced to use their lanterns and have a hard time seeing and fighting at night. Fighting at night is supposed to be dangerous.

The sun rotation is off axis, so full night time is never actually reached in our version (not sure about RU or KR). If you track the sun through the day, it doesn't move across the whole sky. It curves back around. This is why it's essentially sunrise at 3am. However, all DAUM could do is tell Pearl Abyss of the issue and hope for the best; They couldn't provide a timeframe for a fix in the post where they acknowledged that it is a bug. It's probably not a huge priority for PA since it doesn't really break anything beyond night time immersion (and the need to actually use a lantern to fight mobs at night, that was really great), and I would imagine it's going to take a backseat to all the other issues they're likely working on.

So either Pearl Abyss has to fix it for us, or we're just going to have very short and very bright nights and throw away lanterns and oil we get from quests.

Seeing how it hasn't been fixed yet, I'm betting it's not an easy fix.

Update
"After a quick review this issue seems to be channel specific where the sun does not go down.  The issue has been reported, and is awaiting a fix, once the fix is in place we can all return to blindly running into trees at night and wishing we had brought a lantern."

And just so people know, the feedback they received was actually to make the nights darker, not brighter, which they did implement but was then bugged for release for whatever reason.

Hm, I don't recall seeing that post. :/

I do, however, recall seeing and still currently see lots of complaints about nights being too dark xD

Ahh cool, I did wonder what the point of the lantern was since it wasn't a big deal fighting at night. Sounds pretty cool now i think about it since it's a bug :P

In SWG the nights were so dark you couldn't see anything other than what your personal light lit up 2m around you and it was still dark AF. Most times you might catch a silhouette of something up on a hill like a Night Sister on the back of a Rancor, then notice on your radar you were in a field of red dots and it made s*** real. You might all of sudden start getting force chocked and just die or get knocked off you vehicle by some unseen mob since you couldn't see what you were running into or what was killing you. SOE had to lighten the nights due to complaints about it being too dark. I hope that never happens here lol.

it sounds amazing too.

not just nights but overall how the light from the sunpoint needs a bit of adjustment, the dusk and dawn last for ages and are generally more annoying, the nights are incredibly ahort and light, mid days are fairly ok

Definately agree with this the last beta night time was AWESOME. You actually need a lantern then now I dont even bother carrying one and usually just delete the daily oil.

IMO seeing as other players can just turn up the gamma on their system and give themselves "Night vision" making the nights darker would end up giving these "Players" an unfair advantage.
I played a game called RUST and they had very dark nights, however everyone who played the game learned that you had to turn your gamma up in order to be "competitive" and those who did not know where at a unfair disadvantage at night. (after all the players who had "nightvision" did not need to use flashlights to see or torches to avoid rocks or animals, so they did not give themselves away in the dark of the night) RUST has fixed the issue by forcing the game to play at a set Gamma rate that overrides system gamma and potentially the same fix would need to be applied to BDO before making the nights darker.

Please no more super dark nights, I still have nightmares of being lost in the woods. My RL eyes are sensitive enough to be able to navigate with moonlight, but my elf girl's eyes are not? Tch tch...

Like the others said, play with your settings if you want your own personal immersion.

The sun apparently starts coming up at 2 A.M., I never knew this actually happened. Hell...any EQ vets remember vanilla? If you weren't a race with good night vision, night time was a nightmare. Legitimately couldn't see anything without a light source
